Riders stuck on Beast for 10 minutes...

I have panic attacks every so often. Now I don't know the individual, but if I were that scared of getting stuck on a ride, I wouldn't go on it. These people were stuck at most 10 minutes before being escorted? That seriously isn't enough time to work yourself up on, especially if the ride ops were communicating through the PA system (which I'm fairly positive they would be).

I may be cynical, but that just sounds alot like somebody getting lawyered-up. No doubt you're safe when the ride stops everything. There are a few rides where you'd be way up there, The Beast isn't one of them. Sheesh.... wait for it though, somebody will be out for dough. We could be biased, but we know KI is safe too. :P

My brother and I got stuck on the break run on Beast Friday for about 10-15 minutes. One of the ride-ops walked down to the train and apprised us of the situation within 2-3 minutes of us getting stuck. As someone who has panic attacks myself I can say that it was certainly an uncomfortable situation but certainly not something I would be calling 911 about.

What did they expect a call to 911 to accomplish?

People like this need to be given their money back & escorted to an exit.

An attempt to enter the park again and you will face trespassing charges.

And shame on any media outlet reporting this non-story.

I too got stuck on the break run. Apparently, someone threw-up and the ride operators had to help the guest, and do a little clean/sanitizing.

They ran the "clean" train, a few cycles, empty to dry the ride just a bit.

Opening day two years ago my first ride of the year during ERT too we got stuck for around 40 minutes at the brakes behind the station..they brought us water and offered snacks but never released our lap bars...

I've never understood why this is done. If they are going to be there long, get them off the ride. FYI - at Dollywood, if the ride is going to be stopped for more than ten minutes, they evacuate.

Well depending on the news stations, some producers will try to find "novel" news to fill in. These are the stories that get cut. Having not seen the story, I am just going from what we did at my station. Producers would call the police stations and ask about their run logs. Or in some cases, a reporter will go to the police station and review the run log. Also the scanners are on in the station all of the time. It could be that they heard about the run/call on the scanner. a few follow up questions later, and there is a story.

Once again, it was probably thrown in as a cut possible. What time block was this story? Was it right at the beginning of the half hour (5 or 530) or was it more towards the middle (515/530) or was it near the end of the show (520/550).

It was posted online on their website at 2:40 pm and the link was then posted on their Facebook page. As far as I can tell, it did not air on the evening news, as no video has been added to the page yet (I did not actually watch the news as I was eating at Subway during that time). Not everything that WHIO posts on their website makes it to TV.

dare-to-fly or any one, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you dial 911 inside the park property, isn't it connected to the park's emergency service?

I would assume that on a cell phone, it would connect you to the 911 service that would serve the area in which the tower resides. Especially on a non-smartphone that doesn't have GPS.

In the US, even non-smartphones have had GPS capabilities for emergency calls since 2006.

Your 911 call is probably routed to the municipal/county 911 dispatch center applicable to your location. Unless it's Disney World/Reedy Creek, it's not going to be internal to an amusement park.

Most 911 calls and police dispatches are public, so all-too-eager local journalists can jump on non-stories and report them as news.
