Apparently, Line Jumping IS an Accepted Sporting Event at KI Now :)

Employees are only as empowered as their employer allows. Management then allows\requires the associates to carry out their authority.

I'm not willing to attribute the line jumping to line employees not doing their jobs. Rather, I suspect the employees are trying hard to enforce the employer's policies. Policies that may actually lessen up on those who do do it yourself Fast Lane, in a conscious or not effort to get other guests to upgrade to life in the Fast Lane.

Management gets the results it specifies, allows, tolerates or wants.

If there is a line jumping problem at Kings Island, it's management's to own. If management considered it a priority, the problem would be aggressively addressed. See also in park profanity on guest attire, lack of sufficiently covering guest attire, smoking in non-designated areas, etc.

And this, my Friend, is what caused a 5 year grudge I held against this park, which took the construction of (IMHO) the best invert in the Country to quell. Does the park/Management care? Of course not, for I am just one, but it is still a point to be brought up with the question, am I the only one? How many per-cap dollars have been lost to others like me?

Oh I agree there with ya and see your point. However, it is a park policy but it's poorly enforced, but yes it is a top down issue, and needs addressed amongst other issues I have.

But I'll continue to call out those who cut the line. A military voice does carry weight, and if they'd like to start something I do have KI's security post number memorized quite well :)

I saw some kids caught once. We were in line for Delirium and some kids sneaked through the bushes near Slingshot and jumped into line. Then over the loudspeakers a voice said. "To those who just jumped into line, remove yourself now or you will be removed when you get to the boarding platform. Thank you." The kids self ejected from the line. There must be video cameras somewhere, and this should be the policy everywhere. The more the jumpers feel they are being watched, the less likely it will happen.

The ride associates at KI have always been and continue to be dedicated professionals. I have always been treated with the utmost kindness and courtesy by the ride associates in my years of patronizing KI. As to the line jumping issue I have always felt that this is a safety and security issue as there is the risk that confronting the line jumper or jumpers can result in a violent confrontation. For this reason I have always felt that it is not right to place young kids ( no offense but to me the ride associates are young kids who are doing an outstanding job. ) in such a potentially volotile situation-that is why we should be having more police/security patrolling the queue areas. PS I must say that the Banshee crew is doing an outstanding job-keep up the good work.

Never had line jumpers get violent with me as an employee..

As a ride op for the ride they line jump, I hold their admission to the ride in my hands, and their admission in the park for that matter. They get lippy, I look up to controls or platform, one call security comes. They either have left right then or will continue to fight, then be kindly escorted out by one or more members of security. Plain and simple. I've had irate guests, but that's a whatever I can easily push that to the side. Rules are rules, they're the same everywhere in the park and do not change. Quick and fair enforcement of the policies makes sure events like this stay at a minimum, so when they do happen and we intervene, it ends easily.

1. Cedar Point policy may or may not be the policy at Kings Island.

2. Kings Island guests are a different demo than Cedar Point's, which are largely resort and overnight guests.

3. You have advocated guests interacting with line jumpers. Never, ever do that in the Northeast. It could turn out badly. Very, very badly. There's a reason Six Flags polices this so well. Verb carefully chosen.

Oh I thought you meant ride ops interacting w/ the guests. No most guests, you can raise it up if you wish (like me) or be quiet..I choose the first option. Oh and up there hell no, unless I know it's a fight I can take, however yeah some people at that park are a little..lets stop there haha.

The policy is the same as stated on the ride entrances/etc. It's enforcement or policy as stated to ride ops may be a different story.

It took an incident at Sesame Place, of all places, for me to lighten up on confronting line jumpers. I used to be much more vocal in calling them out, but after a guy line-jumped in front of us for a water slide at Sesame Place and it almost became a physical confrontation with him repeatedly threatening to hit me, I've backed off somewhat. Philadelphia is not Cincinnati, and the people in each are completely different! I now handle each situation on a case-by-case basis, and I let a lot more slide than I used to.

Fines are enough as it is already, getting one that's doubled is even worse. This is done for worker safety of course.

Kind of surprised I've never seen the signs like they have in Tennessee for their work areas. "Slow down! My daddy works here!"

Wasn't there one of those signs in the haunt "The Worksite"? I swear i remember seeing something about daddy's on one of the signs in there.

Hey everyone :) I don't comment on much on KI Central but this is a topic that angers me as well. But the issue is simple manners. As a Platinum Pass holder, I try not to get too angry when someone cuts in front of me because I feel that maybe they are only here for one day and I can ride anytime. But there was a time on Diamondback when it happened and it's the only time I've ever said anything. They ended up removing them from the park and the group threatened to stab me in the parking lot. I thought to myself, "really? threaten someone's life because they caught you being a selfish idiot?" But there was that part of me that also didn't want to get stabbed in the parking lot, ha.

The most common form of line jumping I witness I like to call the "restaurant reservation". A group of 10 will send two people to "hold their place" and the rest of the group thinks it's okay to meet up with them well into the line. They really think this is ok.

I have a friend that is one of the higher ups at the park. Sometimes, I want to text them when these things happen so they can send security to the ride, haha. Maybe undercover isn't such a bad idea ;)

Anyway, I'm done venting. I've always loved reading the posts. Carry on, haha.

Oh wow! Thanks for pointing that out. I could've sworn I've commented before, haha. Well, I've been a member for quite a while anyway. Figures, I'm kind of a stand in the back of the room and blend in sort of guy, haha.

Well, thanks for the welcome and here's to my second post! haha

I don't get agitated by it because I'm a platinum pass holder and I can ride any time. I figure my day will be much less enjoyable if I get in a confrontation with somebody. I can't imagine boycotting the park over line jumping.

Unsanctioned line jumping at Kings Island isn't affecting your wait time much, if at all. It may be annoying, but there's no need for guests to overreact.

If a line jumper is close to me in line, I'll discretely inform a ride host when I get to the platform or the Fast Lane merge point.

Now that is something Kings Island can do, hire a bunch of former Drill Sergeants, like the Airborne Ranger that I had, dress them all in their crisp, starched uniforms with Smokey Bear hats, and when they catch a line jumper, shout at them to knock off 20 pushups! :)

Terpy as usual makes an excellant point about CP and KI not necessarily having the same policies even if they are owned by the same company. And, to be fair, I have observed CP slipping over the past few years with respect to strict enforecement of line jumping rules ( although not horribly) while I have observed improvement over the past few years in KI's enforcement of such rules. ( Still work to be done but the situation certainly is not a deal breaker with respect to my continued love affair with the park.)

Also, Malem, your post certainly describes me right on point with respect how my reaction to line jumping has changed-I simply smile and continue to enjoy my day at the park. ( Otherwise the line jumper has won.) If it gets out of hand I quietly use my observation skills and report it to an attendant-if they can take action, fine, if not, then it is not the end of the world.
