Which coaster do you want to come next.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, CF has added 3 steel coasters since 2007. FH, DB, Banshee. Adding a great lineup of steel coasters. In that time we lost a woodie. You are saying we need another steel coaster in the lineup? How is a fourth steel coaster adding to the variety?

With variety in mind we need another woodie before a steel coaster, but that is my opinion. Now do I believe we will see a giga next, yes.

I'm going to try to think about this as logically as possible. KI already has a solid to great lineup of inverted coasters, woodies, and family coasters, so I personally would rule all of those out.

I don't understand the we are good in the woodie department comments. Yes, the woodies we have are great, but we lost over a mile's worth of wood coaster several years back. It may not have been the smoothest ride ever, but I really do miss that first drop of SOB. I would love to see another woodie by a reputable company about the same length of DB, an awesome first drop, fully trim free that is non stop speed from that first drop to the station. Several 90 degree banked turns, and let's outdo Holiday World and have a quadruple down instead of a triple down using the terrain. Although the RMC track is cool, let's not jump on the Six bandwagon, I want a traditional track. I don't care if it is a hybrid as long as we have the traditional wood track. That is my wish list for KI. I am not saying this has to be our next coaster, but the installment after, yes. Let's get back to what put KI on the map!
My point was KI doesn't really need another woodie. Adding a 200 foot woodie doesn't exactly add a ton of variety to the current coaster lineup. KI already has 2 legendary woodies as it is. Now adding a 300 foot coaster when there's exactly 1 coaster with a drop over 150 feet in the whole park would certainly make a splash.

Plus people seem to keep ignoring my point about the GP's reaction to seeing another 200' woodie being built so soon after the previous one was a massive failure. I'd be absolutely shocked if the park went down that road with their next coaster. I'd put up any amount of money give 5 to 1 odds that it won't happen. Somewhere way down the road? Possibly, but not this soon.

I'm far from the expert on roller coasters, 95% of my rides have come at KI.  Sprinkle in 3 trips to the Pointe and a couple of trips to the Disney Parks in Orlando and I have a very limited base of experience actually riding different roller coasters.  With that said, my trip to Valleyfair this past summer, and my experience on Renegade completely opened me up that there is indeed a hole in KI's wood Coaster lineup.  Certainly they have 2 legends, perhaps the biggest wood coaster legend still in operation, as well as a great, kid friendly woodie, but Renegade completely blew me away. I've heard the same things (actually better) with El Toro, and certainly there is love for the woodies down in Holiday World.  A Modern woodie doesn't need to be 200+ tall to be great, Renegade more than proved that to me, as well as numerous rides on The Beast & The Racer.  All 3 offer vastly different experiences for they may all be woodies, but they are nowhere close to each other in the type of thrills they give.  The Racer gives great air time, The Beast gives little to no air time.  The Beast screams across the ground in big, forceful swirls with exciting tunnels, The Racer offers none of that, its only turn is less than thrilling.  Renegade offered a little bit of both and so much more, double turn first drop, station fly by, banked turns, etc..  all very much a different experience than what KI has on their woodies.

If and when KI gets a Giga, it will be a hit, and will generate a great ROI for the park, I have no doubt about that.  Based upon history, I fully expect that to happen w/n the 10 years (or next 2 major coaster installations), most likely the next one, whenever that should occur.  However, their wooden lineup is hardly complete, still solid, better than most, maybe even all, but not complete by any means.

Here's a more realistic outlook on what coaster to expect. <a href="http://s362.photobucket.com/user/x241/media/image_3.jpeg.html"target="_blank"><img src="http://i362.photobucket.com/albums/oo63/x241/image_3.jpeg" border="0" alt=" photo image_3.jpeg"/></a>

A floorless coaster would be awesome, that would be an excellent edition to Kings Island!

I'd love a woodie to come in and be done correctly that's more modern. Reuse the old SOB station and honestly leaving and coming back to the station might have to go overtop of Banshee's track (after the second vertical loop), but after that there's SO much empty space.. Maybe even plant some trees since woodies aren't typically as expensive as steel coasters nowadays. I was just looking at it from above and it looks like not intersecting any coaster would make for a small ride or mean getting rid of the SOB station eventually.

It would be easier to just make a walk way underneath in between The Bat and Banshee that would go around and connect to X-Base. It would be much easier and better way to expand the park. It would make less bottlenecking and more area for flat rides/rollercoasters. There are so many possibilities with that land I personally would rather see a GCI like Viper, because RMC's IMO lose the momentum toward the end.

Viper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrsYbFdfy18 POV posted by In the Loop.  I just love how GCI mixes turns, airtime hills and delivers an intense ride all the way through.

The more likely coaster to be next is a giga and with the death of StR it is most likely going to be a B&M. I love both of the B&M gigas so I would be happy to see either one.

First issue: Terrain

Second issue: That would be an awfully long path that would require an unrealistic amount of expense to populate with sufficient rides, facilities, games, food stands, etc.

True, maybe they don't connect but that is a much more logical then building an RMC coaster over top Banshee track and using an old SOB station. Neither of our options are likely ever going to happen. I would much rather see a long path that doesn't have much going on for a while then a coaster on top of another coaster.

I don't think either is going to happen btw, I think its more likely we see the DA area be replaced with a coaster. I also think the Crypt building will become a dark ride "coaster" before any massive expansion.

Here's my list in no particular order.  This is kind of a mix of what I think will actually come and what I want to come but in a realistic sense-

1. B&M Giga

2. GCI woodie

3. Mack Wild Mouse

4. Mack Spinning Coaster

5. Mack Water Coaster

6. the mix of coaster/dark ride that Canada's Wonderland received

7. a custom RMC hybrid coaster

I'm really hoping for a Mack product that isn't their launch/looping coaster since KI's last 3 coaster installations were all high thrill coasters.  I think they could use a bump in the family coaster department (not kids coasters, KI has plenty of those).

What I would like to see:  A modern wooden coaster that is reliable and low maintenance.  I really think that a wooden coaster is needed to balance out the line up at Kings Island, and to pay homage to the past.  I'd like to see the giant box in Rivertown removed, and this coaster to go in this spot and go back in the woods, but not too close to The Beast.

After this installation, I would like the next coaster to be the B&M giga, but in the giant space where SOB stood.  Would be a good skyline addition and if done correctly (station entrance near Timberwolf/Invertigo) this coaster would keep adding to the action in this zone.

I am easy to please however.  I'd be happy to get the Coney Mall sign back, and consistently cleaner/non smelly restrooms.

(Note:  the wooden coaster that I'd like to see is a larger version of something like Thunderhead at Dollywood, and climate controlled restrooms like at Kentucky Kingdom.)

What is your preferred wooden coaster manufacturer? They all bring there own unique experiences.

RMC brings a lot of inversions which is great, but tend to lose the momentum towards the end and aren't the longest rides in the world. RMC is what everyone is looking towards the future. But can you put a coaster that sort of comes to a close gently in the same park as the LEGENDARY Beast helix idk. RMC would be my guess is to what company CF would use to build wooden coasters, but they haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet.

GCI offers a lot of great turns mixed with airtime and offer an all around great ride. GCI is only getting better with work, coasters such as Goldstriker,Renegade,Prowler, and there biggest coaster yet Viper all look to be amazing additions to there parks. GCI usually hold up pretty well and seems to be one of the most reliable Woodie manufacturers, which CF seems to be going to, and is the most recent wooden manufacturer to work with them.

CCI has now become Gravity Group. The big 3 GG rides I have been on are Raven,Legend, and the Voyage. All of these coasters are contenders in top 10 wooden coaster lists. They are a local company that has produced massive hits such as The Voyage or Ravine Flyer 2. My only issue with GG is that I hear there BIG coasters all tend to be similar to each other and don't offer very unique rides. Now that being said MOST coaster enthusiasts have The Voyage as their #1 woodie so having a coaster like that with The Beast in the same park could be HUGE.

Whenever we get a new woodie I think these 3 companys are going to be the ones fighting for the job. These are the main manufacturers and they all are Unique it just depends what KI thinks would mix well with our current collection.

CCI did not become The Gravity Group. There is no legal connection between the two whatsoever. CCI is defunct. The Gravity Group may have a few people who worked for CCI, but it is not CCI in any sense whatsoever.

CCI had two major designers. One is with The Gravity Group. The other is not. Gravity Group had NOTHING to do with Raven. Its primary designer never had anything to do with Gravity Group. Legend? Go look. Again.

And no, their coasters are not nearly all the same. Far, far from it.

The manufacturer calls it wood. But all solid material between the main wheels and the upstop wheels is steel. As far as I'm concerned, that makes it steel. Same for Goliath.

What the manufacturers and parks claim means nothing to me. They can call it whatever they want. If Kings Island's marketing department decided to start referring to Diamondback as a wooden coaster, that wouldn't make it so.

EDIT: Wow, great minds think alike. And nearly simultaneously, too!

Good points. I remember seeing a comparison somewhere of standard wood track and RMC track that probably made it look pretty wooden for RMC's sake. Guess Parks can say whatever they want about there rides. CP considers Pipescream a roller coaster, when it clearly is just a large version of the former Avatar ride.
