Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

I played guess the coaster path.  I took three trips on the train on Saturday.  I saw markers to the end of the train shed.  The markers followed what appeared to be a straight line back over white water canyon and would continue back to the clearing in Rivertown.  There are other markers which also appear to follow straight lines but I did not do a good job of keeping track of them.

There are no survey markers which I could see which head towards the fort, or the front of the park at all.  I did see some brush clearing in front of the fort but I do not see anything which links this to the other work.  I am guessing a coaster but I think the early guesses at the path are totally wrong.

In my view there are too many obstructions to see this ride head towards the front of the park.  First you would not want to cross a power line, the line could be moved but then you just run into other problems.  If you head towards the fort or front of the park you have to cross the path of the train several times, which would also require clearing most of the trees around the train.  The turn around would be next to where I believe the trash is taken in the park (please correct me if I am wrong).  The entire path of the coaster would be dictated by existing construction or would require other work.  It just feels wrong to me.

So what does feel right?  That is where my guess comes in.  Everything is from google maps.  I put Fury 325 turned so it would match where I think the coaster is going on the side to give you a sense of scale.  From what I can tell there is a 50 foot drop just past the train tracks next to the train shed.  It would be possible to build a lift hill around 330 ft tall and have a 350 foot drop or even more.  Which could get the coaster going over 100 miles per an hour  and I believe that would be a first for a coaster without a launch.  I am just trying to show what I think the path of the ride is going to be.  But it makes sense to me.  Around the same length as Fury 325 although could easily extend this  to The Beast.  I looped the brake run around so that it would not be above any other attractions,

Hi, I've been following this thread for awhile, and decided to make an account to follow the conversation. I live near Kings Island, so I went today and I rode the train to look for clearing and flags. I just know that I seen a lot of clearing behind the tracks lined up the "falling trees" site. I also seen pink flags attached to trees along the way when the train is below Diamondback. I could see a bit of the old WWC path, the path looks torn up. Sorry if this was already found, I'm just kinda stating what I found on the train ride.

So, before I left today, I went up to the Tower to see what I could see (per the Twitter teasing) and it looks like the site was extended from the last time I saw saw it (granted, I was on ground level on Opening Day and I hadn't seen an aerial view yet- only from the train and the teaser signs. Also, thanks for posting those pics Magenta Lizard (the ones showing work going on by the Fort), I didn't realize the work went back that far; this just shows how big this project is. On a side note, the rest of my trip was fine, Delirium was a nice, relaxing, ferocious breeze of a break from the hot sun.  B)

So lets play connect the dots. Use this map courtesy of Google. Plot any point you see a survey marker staked in the ground. Lets use red for survey stakes, ans green for marked trees or clearing you see. I think once we start getting some plot points, we can get an idea what we are looking at.

I was playing with Google Maps and Nolimits and got one heck of a bizarre answer. Yes a B&M hyper would work but assuming the lift is 360 feet, the maximum height of the following element if heading towards SC if you are talking about a coaster entirely in the woods is about 80 feet. So after that overbanked turn, an airtime hill and a Fury like turnaround could entirely be kept in the woods, with the overbanked turnaround protruding into the picnic grounds a bit.

The power lines that are shown are for WWC's pumps and turntable, which could easily be buried i they wanted. It could also it another way.

This is what I saw over by the fort, I believe someone posted something similar. I didn't see any markers in that area, but it's a pretty open area.

would be pretty cool if a coaster in that area was tall enough that we could see into fort coney
I've always wanted to see what it looks like inside. I've always wanted to GO inside but that'll never happen.

^Look on Bing Maps or Google Earth on the interior of the fort, and you will notice an interesting surprise. :)

(Please do not trespass Kings Island property nor any property owned by any company that you are not designated to be in. I am not advocating for trespass of any kind, nor any illegal clearance into such environments.)

I'm not quite sure why I never thought of that. I'd never even considered trespassing, I don't want to get myself banned from the park!

I'm not saying that you would, just simply stating not to. I don't want to have anyone make a mess from a post, so I simply put the disclaimer in so that no one would have the idea of doing so.

Refer to this link that was on the post Goble made when he started the thread.

http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/27822-a-warning-to-the-kic-universe/

I'm not saying that you would do it either, but there was an incident a couple of years back when we were doing the same thing for Banshee. Don was furious, and I don't blame him. DO NOT under any circumstance trespass or enter a backstage area of the park without permission AND an escort from a Kings Island employee. Said incident caused tension between this site and Kings Island. It will result in criminal charges and even banishment from the park.

Just wanted to point this out since those who were around at that time remember all that took place.

Carry on...

I feel really stupid, I tried to look all over the train tracks on Google Earth, nothing. Am I missing something to look at?

Utilize Bing Maps, it is much superior to what Google Earth is giving me. The area in question is on the train tracks right next to the road, the large old fort.

Note that I haven't used Google Earth in some while now, and that imagery is nothing but blurs with old photos. Yet, the Street Side view of Boomerang Bay is amazing on Google Earth.

It looks like a roof. Isn't a house or something?

Yup, there is a very old house in there.  I have heard that when the park land was being purchased the owner who had built the house by hand did not want to see it torn down.  So he made a deal with the park that he would sell the land but they were not allowed to tear down the house.  The park built the fort around the house to hide it from view.

You're welcome bm0324. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Sorry if I sounded harsh on my post earlier. Trespassing is a behavior that the park and this site does not condone.

I just don't want to see another repeat of 2013, that's all. We have several new posters and I thought it was a good time to bring it up again.

I rode the train this afternoon and saw something else unusual. I saw green circles sprayed randomly on trees. I have no idea what they mean but they are everywhere. Is this marking the tree in some way to indicate "keep" or "fell". Idk. But one thing is for sure, there are many of them.

No I totally understand! Nothing good ever comes from trespassing in an amusement park. Is there a way to change your username? Mines just my initials and birthday but I'd like to change it to something more creative if I think of one.
