Which Ride Will Leave Next

Michigan's Adventure def got the short end of the stick. They always have. When I say KI got the short end of the stick I mean KI got the worse deal outta of KD & KI. KI did get the more unique coaster, but KD got the people eating B&M floor less. I know other parks in the chain could have used these attractions. It probably would have benefited more from receiving them over KI and KD. I really only meant for the question to be why KD got the better attractions??

I've heard Firehawk (XFlight) was originally designed FOR KI in Action Zone. Paramount changed their mind after the design was finished, and Geauga Lake took it instead.
Firehawk (xflight) being up for grabs years later probably made Cedar Fair easily pick KI for it, if they knew this (assumingly true) information.. Almost with a thought of "they were gonna get it anyways" sort of thought.

I don't think KI really got the short stick compared to KD. I hear Dominator has a terrible rattle in its last half and is one of the weaker Floorless Coasters from B&M. On the flip side, Firehawk is a Flying Dutchman by Vekoma which is considered one of Vekoma's better models, and both have rather mixed reviews from Coaster Enthuists, but then again the GP may like Dominator better than Firehawk.

My personal thought is maybe they put Dominator at KD so this park can have a B&M. I've heard Busch has an agreement with B&M to limit the radius for new builds a certain distance from BGW. I also just had a thought:. Was the name Dominator chosen at GL because the move was predeterminded? Dominator at Dominion? ;)

People only think that about Dominator because of Coaster Studios. Dominator is definitely one of the more forceful and better floorless coasters. Yes it does have a rattle at the end, but in all honesty it's not bad at all if you keep your head out during the corkscrews. I would definitely say that Dominator is a LOT better than Firehawk.

Source: I've ridden Dominator over 30 times and Firehawk a lot as well.

Although, I know I said I don't think any coasters are going to be leaving... but I WISH Firehawk wasn't there. I've never had any interest to ride it, the people I know that have ridden have told me they didn't just love it, and for me-- I think it's missing a wow factor the other coasters do have. In my opinion, I just never felt like it fit in well with KI.

The first time I rode it, I liked it. But I didn't ride for a long time and tried it again a couple years ago...

..And it was just PAINFUL.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't miss X-Base at all, including Flight of Fear. Not to say I want those rides gone, it's just I don't like Firefox and usually forget it exists until I'm reminded, and then Flight of Fear's novelty has worn off on me.

XBase is cool but feels very empty. There's very little theming to make it feel like anything.

I've never ridden Dominator so I can't vouch for it but I've ridden Firehawk dozens of times and I wouldn't like to see it go. Even if it has capacity issues in relation to it's ride length, it's still a fun and unique ride.

I have rode Dominator and I fully agree with this. Before riding Dominator I felt like KD got the better ride. After riding Dominator, though, I'm glad KI has Firehawk. It is a fantastic and unique ride. Dominator felt just average to me.

Not exactly a ride and purely a random idea, but I could see the old arcade building going away, as they already have a ton of games and they aren't as in demand nowadays it seems...plus Coney Mall is due for a new, small flat ride or two.  They could use that area plus the old Flight Commander area for a couple small things to spruce up a pretty quiet area of that park.

And I have a completely irrational love of Congo Falls.  Just a quick fun ride on hot summer days so I wouldn't want that to go.

edit - Flight Commander.  Brain fart.

I hope they can use the old Flight Commander area (at least that's what I think you mean by Flight Deck) but that's where they were going to put Drop Tower originally, so there has to be some reason they didn't put it there, I think Terpy said something about site issues?

Bumping the thread. I think Kings Island doesn't want to lose any rides at this point- there are still a lot of people who want old rides to come back- King Cobra, KCKC, Phantom Theater, Son of Beast, Der Spinnen Keggers, etc. However, since this is a "get rid of" thread I'd have to say Boo Blasters or Congo Falls. Boo Blasters is just kinda there as a dark ride and could use a retheme and overhaul. Congo Falls is in a weird space of the park and should be "pushed somewhere else" like Rivertown. I get it made sense when the Action Zone was safari themed but it seems out of place. If Congo Falls can't be relocated within the park, I could see it being removed in favor of a new attraction.

^Ehh I wouldn't say that's too egregious an offense...

Or at least, it wouldn't be like breaking the 11th Commandment, which to everyone here that doesn't already know....

THOU SHALL NOT REMOVE Adventure Express!

There's also, on the 8th day, God made Adventure Express, and He said, "This sacred ride shall be honored and revered for ages to come!"

To echo what @upstop said, I think if/when Vortex finally has to go (hopefully that's still a while from now), some type of 90 degree drop coaster, whether it be a B&M Dive Machine or a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter, would fit it's footprint perfectly!

And if they would find a way to "re-re-use" Vortex's station (which as we know used to be the original Bat's) that would be awesome!

I wonder if a station has ever been used for 3 different coasters throughout its lifespan...

I would love to see the station reused. It’s one of the most themed stations in the park. I could see the first drop of this coaster following Votex’s current path, falling deeper into the ravine into a tunnel, circling under the midway, coming out of the ground and arching over the midway, back into the main ride area and continually using the ravine base. Heck make it with 7 inversions.... that would be a world record for dive coasters right?

I actually like Congo Falls where it is. I know it doesn't seem like it fits the theme*, but it's nice to have a water ride to cool off with on that side of the park.

*The area is called Action Zone, as in the action/adventure genre. I'd argue a jungle-themed ride fits that theme with ease.

I think Firehawk will be the next to go because of all of the problems it had this past season. They don't really make parts for it anymore and there was probably a good 2-3 weeks this summer where it would close at least once per day for something. If they took it out they could use the space to maybe expand xbase and put a future coaster there like a B&M Dive coaster. It would be sad to see one of the last flying dutchmans go though

I can’t comment on the parts issue as I have no idea If Vekoma supplies parts or not.  However Firehawk is still a popular ride and rarely a walk on unlike several other coasters in the park.

I've heard things about the parts through the rumor mill so it may not actually be true. The people who told me said its because of how few flying dutchmans are even left. I agree that it is still popular though. I enjoy riding it when I decide to wait for it. They would have to draw the line eventually though if the upkeep gets to be too much even if it is still somewhat popular. Part of how its rarely a walk on though is because it doesn't really pump out capacity like the other coasters in the park
