What's interesting is that Cedar Fair primarily worked with Intamin and B&M for their parks which dominated the industry. Now you start to see a shift to companies like GCI, Gerstlauer and even RMC. I personally think this shift comes from Cedar Fair's unsteady relationship with Intamin and the strive for something unique and dependable.
silver2005 25327
Intamin has also kind of gone stale as of late. They haven't come up with anything new in quite a while and are focused in the Asian market at the moment. Most other companies can now play the 'me too' game with Intamin on top of continuing with churning out new innovations while also having better ROI and reliability.

Would still be really cool to have a ground-up RMC (though personally I'm not sure that there'd be a difference between I-box and topper when built from scratch, does anyone else know if there is one?).
MDMC01 8408
Not sure why it wouldn't let me post more outside of the quote (maybe because I was going to originally copy/paste the quote and my response after reading the rest of the thread, but that didn't work...), but what I was going to say was that if you look at the link in the quote, Energylandia will be possibly be receiving a Tilt Coaster... a tilt coaster! I love that these are still being made in 2018.
SonofBaconator 13369
I think that we'll see a T-Rex coming to the Cedar Fair chain in the upcoming years. As to where, I'd say possibly WOF since they don't have a good inverting coaster in their line up aside from Patriot.
SonofBaconator 13369
If each park in the chain would receive only one RMC, this is how I think it would break down. I included current RMCs as well. I excluded S&S freespins because literally any park could receive one. Ibox- Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds Topper Track- Kings Island Raptor/ T-rex- California's Great America, Valley Fair, Dorney Park, Knotts, Worlds of Fun Nothing- Michigan's Adventure (maybe a free-spin but even that's stretching it)

dtk1378 1492
Lol, even in enthusiast fantasies Michigan's Adventure doesn't get new rides.
McSalsa 4583
^ LOL, I will fix that! (Fantasizes Michigan's Adventure with a B&M Giga, B&M Dive Coaster, B&M Wing Coaster, RMC'd Wildcat, GCI Wooden Coaster, Intamin Blitz Coaster, B&M Family Inverted Coaster, Vekoma Mine Train, Intamin Strata Coaster, as well as a huge waterpark expansion with multiple waterslides including water coasters and also a bunch of new flat rides and theming that is as good as Disney World) MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I MADE MICHIGAN'S ADVENTURE THE BEST PARK IN DA WORLD!!! (Because I forgot to upgrade Hotels & Infastructure, Michigan's Adventure suffers the same fate as Geauga Lake and dies from over-expansion and all that stuff I listed above gets sent to other Cedar Fair Parks instead) Oh...uhh...oops... WA WA WA! 2
Rivertown Rider 1928
It is a shame Michigan's Adventure doesn't get more love. It is a nice little park and deserves a nice coaster addition. Something small like Railblazer or Hangtime would be great there.
SonofBaconator 13369
I found a cool list about which coasters should/ should not be rmc'd https://www.thecoasterkings.com/10-coasters-that-should-be-rmcd-and-10-that-shouldnt/ If any Cedar Fair park should get the next RMC treatment it should be Canada's Wonderland but with the edition of YS, we might have to wait a bit- however there are rumors going around about Mighty Canadian Minebuster getting RMC'd 2
Honorarius 759
That started at least a few years ago from CW fanboys yelling 'we want/need an RMC' into the echo chamber until more people saw it and spread it... Person A says it on site X, Person B agrees with it, Person C chimes in, Person D sees it and regurgitates it on site Y, person E sees it on site Y, goes back to site X and says 'I saw it on site Y too! CoNfIrMeD!!!1!' and after enough repetitions , it goes from 'speculation/wishful thinking' to 'rumor'...
Rivertown Rider 1928
Of the two big woodies at CW, I enjoyed Minebuster more than Wild Beast so if I were going to RMC one it would be Wild Beast instead of Minebuster.

SonofBaconator 13369
Double Post. I never realized how "cheap" RMC coasters are as they average around $10 million. Compare this to B&M whuch averages as around $20 million. At this rate I wouldn't be surpised if every park in the chain has an RMC in some form or another... ....except Michigan's Adventure.

Steel Vengeance has been having a ton of issues. It isn’t even opening until after noon every day now. I would love for Cedar Fair to work more with RMC, but since Steel Vengeance has not really pulled large numbers and has been beset with problems, I would honestly be surprised to see Cedar Fair work with them again.
malem 19847
^ Steel Vengeance been reliable this season after it's opened for the day. They've been temporarily substituting Magnum XL-200 on the Early Entry schedule. The frustrating part about opening late is that it's hard to avoid waiting in a long line, unless you happen to be close when they get it ready.
SonofBaconator 13369
@KIghostguy True, but SV is a huge scale coaster. I was talking about coasters like Twisted Timbers, and Railblaizer.
FUN&ONLY! 2481
I just don’t see us getting a ground up RMC topper track or I-Box track coaster anytime soon because Cedar Point is super close and literally has that as their signature attraction. It also just came last year!
SonofBaconator 13369
I thought this was an interesting video and he brings up some good points. Cedar Fair has been cutting off some manufacturers that have been giving their respective parks problems such as Intamin and by the looks of it RMC. There really hasn't been a hint or a leak that RMC is going to work with Cedar Fair in the near future. I'm not saying it'll never happen again, heck they could have something in the works now, but it doesn't seem super promising at this point and time. Outside of Canada's Wonderland there's not an immediate need to convert any wooden coasters. I imagine Cedar Fair is looking to see how Iron Gwazi does before wanting to work with RMC again. I'm not saying Cedar Fair has quit on RMC but it seems like they're more comfortable with other manufacturers even going so far as to work with Mack who ships their track overseas. It'll be interesting to see what the future holds in terms of Cedar Fair's relationship with RMC
Shawn Meyer 1321
^Would a ground up RMC still be possible in the Cedar Fair chain? I would still love If RMC built a ground up at Kings Island.

grsupercity 106
I am really hoping to see Cedar Branch away from just B&M and GCI. Id love to see some new age Vekoma's, Gravity Group (fingers crossed for Dorney)and intamin again. Even something like Alpina Blitz looks very fun from Mack. I am not sure how Cedar Fair feels about Hangtime so we will see if any Euro Fighters or Infiniti coasters pop up.

Shawn Meyer 1321
I know this is random, but I like to think that their relationship with RMC is mutual. I wouldn't say they have a love-hate relationship.
