I can see how Hong Kong could be a part of China, but in some ways, it's not.

History lesson time LOL:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-16517764

Hong Kong is a territory of China, similar to how the United States has territories that are not officially states (or cities) to the USA.  Washington, D.C. would be one of them.  In addition, the United States has five major U.S. territories: American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each such territory is partially self-governing that exists under the authority of the U.S. government.  The United States also has many uninhabited territories as well...

Residents of D.C. can vote for US presidents, but the remaining territories cannot.

The country will start getting back to work next week. Just a matter of time until bigger events start again. I'm still a firm believer we'll be in parks in May.

Some areas will be more restrictive than others, but we'll start trying to return to normal life and wash our hands a bit more soon.

It doesn't look good because people aren't listening. Stay at home and the problem will go away quickly. However the chance for that has long come and gone.

More testing has also become available and at a faster rate.

Ah yes, the Monty Python strategy.

I wouldn't count on that. If that happened, then according to models, up to 75% of our population could be infected by it and possibly millions could be dead.

What some keep forgetting when seeing projections is the 2.5ish mortality rate is dependent on those needing intensive care receiving it.   If the health system is overwhelmed and Death Panels are instituted to determine which lucky few receive treatment the rate will be much, much higher.  Even for the young.

There are no good options here.  Just bad ones and worse ones.

Let's compare and contrast how Asia is dealing with it versus USA...

My friend lives in China and has been keeping me up to date and sending photos and links along the way.  So let's compare how China and USA are dealing with it.

They took the stay home seriously.  This is one of their downtown areas during the shutdown.  That road normally looks like LA traffic...  Compare this picture to any of our cities...or even the roads to your local Kroger...or the local Milford kid on spring break with his famous "If I get Corona" quote...

image.png

During their lockdown in Wuhan 9millon people were not allowed out of their home and all transportation stopped and all shops were closed even the supermarket.

Government installed cameras in front of their houses and have security people roaming 24hours/day every day.

Many of China's houses are not like the US, most of them are like an apartment- people that have been to HONGKONG or Singapore will know this very well.

You are required to have an app and submit all your data to this app that is tied to your ID card, where you live, where are you have been, etc.  When you go into any store have to scan this to show them the details.

In China there is no private data. Hundreds of people have been put into prison because of not accepting the isolation.  The US would never do this.  People claim big brother and what not, but the reality is, if you have a mobile device, you are already being tracked….

image.png

They all wear face masks in public.  To go anywhere you need to go thru multiple checkpoints.  Those people with arrows pointed to them are not police, they are temperature takers.

image.png

Once you get past those checkpoints, you will come across thermal cameras at individual stores that will alarm if someone has a high body temperature:

image.png

They are constantly bleaching everything, either people dressed in full hazmat gear, or with machines like this...has anyone seen that done in the USA....

image.png

Satellite imaging over China has shown a drastic decrease in air pollution during the shutdown...where are LA comparable images....they don't exist...

 image.png

When it is all said and done, our numbers are going to far exceed any other country...we are days from just Ohio exceeding the total number infected in all of Japan...and our country death's are halfway to the total number infected in Japan...wonder why....

The last numbers I saw was that based on other needs in the hospitals due to flu and cancer, etc., that unchecked, the death rate could exceed 15 million due to not being able to be treated due to lack of hospital beds and equipment...

Someone I know posted on Instagram about the idea of places/events in the future start adopting a temperature gun thing at security. Like for example, at KI after going through the metal detectors, you'll get your temperature screened and if you show signs of being sick, security will be called and you'll be asked to leave. It would be a little hard to do at first, but if like after 9/11, something big gets introduced to the world, this might be it.

I think part of the problem with the stay at home policy is how many businesses have no deemed themselves essential... If we wanted an effective stay at home policy way more should be closed.

Before closing down, The Wynn in Vegas had thermal scanners on everyone as they entered the casino.  Have a fever?  You were escorted out.

Disney really needs to use this downtime to make this happen.

My wife's cousin works for Sideshow Collectibles, I wonder if he had a hand in that?  Doesn't seem like his typical work that I've seen, but I only talk to him about once every 3-5 years.

All of the home made "masks" that are being made--worthless.  An N-95 mask will filter out 95% of particles as small as a virus, and to be effective, you have to be fit tested.  Wearing these home made masks is akin to trying to stop water from going thru a window screen.  And how many people do you wearing a mask who have it pulled below their nose?

And the folks wearing gloves--You go to the store with your gloves on.  Every time you touch a package to examine, any part of the cart that isn't wiped down, the keypad on the debit machine, the plastic thing you put down to separate your items (not to mention the germs on the conveyor belt)….and then you touch your phone, your debit card, your face, your keys and your steering wheel.  The gloves are simply a feel good measure like the home made masks are.

Just like Thanos.   Jr. has invited them back.  Fitness center is open, should work out well.

@BeeastFarmer Been waiting on your comment on the “t-shirt” masks.   Perhaps you can explain the different purposes of surgical masks and N95 masks to our viewers.

It has already started.  Liberty University is letting students back on campus next week.

Liberty University = Jerry Falwell.  He only wants them back for the revenue.  He's a money gobbler, not concerned about actual welfare of people, like every other Televangelist.

He's nothing more than a snake oil salesmen in a tailored suit - a faith healer that tricks people into thinking they are safe by praying alone.

N95 masks, as I said, filter out up to 95% of particulates.  An easy way to picture that is to think of a very dense window screen.  Pour 100 gallons of water on it.  95 gallons would not be able to penetrate.

Papper masks are actual ventilators that filter out particulates.  They are mechanical and cover the entire head and upper body (in my experience).  They can be used when fit testing is not possible or if there is a physical reason why an N-95 cannot be used (beard).

Surgical masks/standard masks are porous and prevent sputum and saliva from exiting the mask and onto a patient/incision.

It's amazing to me that the Joint Commission has been silent.  We can't have food at workstations or tape on the wall, but we can wear bandanas or paper towels as PPE.  woo-hoo ride em cowboy

That's Kaiser Permanente for ya. Although they may be technically correct, what would they do if every single nurse, tech, resident, dietician, therapist, chaplain, doctor, housekeeper, chaplain, etc all came in with a mask in protest?
