Kingda Ka!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the update. I know that I won't be going that way to ride Ka, but I wouldn't mind. I think the bunny hill is what will make that ride. I've already experienced the rest. I also think the new area going with it looks pretty cool too.

I was reading over at coasterbuzz that Kingda Ka will be opening in March. Seems early to be able to get everything finished. I wonder if they mean that the whole area will be finished or just the coaster itself?

I just read something very interesting. The top will have a brake that will slow down riders to about 15mph so they can get a view from the top. That was my main complaint about Dragster, other than ride duration. Once you get to the top, it's so fast going over, you don't really notice how high you are.

On another note. KK has OTSR's, which will block your view. So those brakes are pointless.

On another note intamin's otsr's rock. They arent even a inch thick. Youll be able to see fine. Honestly your body will move around more with the otsr than the t bar not to mention the questionable t bar's behavior with some parks...

So this is basically TTD with a bunny hill? Am I the only one not impressed with these one trick ponies. I mean sure they're fun to ride once or twice but I'd rather have a slower and shorter coaster with more ride elements. Maybe it's just me.

I like TTD pretty well, but I consider it more of a thrill ride than a coaster due to the duration.

Ha.... they've got a 400+ ft tall coaster and it's almost done, while we're getting one that's probably not even 100ft and we're still walking around knee-deep in mud. Gotta love the Cincinnati weather.

I don't think no one mentioned about the brakes that start on the top of the second hill. Or the brake thats on top. I would like the brake up top but, I don't know about the brakes that start on the top of the second hill. I know the reason, but o well.

I haven't heard anything. If I remember correctly, after Draster was topped off, there was a ton of electrical work still to be done as well as the station. I imagine that is what they are doing now on Ka.

Here's some new ariel pics of KK if you want to see them.

KK pics

The second hill looks huge and the brake run looks like it dosen't start till after the bunny hill which would give some amazing air.

9 1/2 hours....way way way too far to travel for a Six Flags park. Kingda Ka has all the makings of a make or break ride for Six Flags. If it runs properly and they can move lines, than it makes them. That's if, because if the opposite happens (which it very well could) than Six Flags could be in some trouble. There is pretty much no difference between KK and TTD, except for a bunny hill that has a brake run on it. The extra 20 or so feet of height and few miles an hour that KK has really makes no difference when it comes to the ride experience.

But its worth it for Great Adventure. :-) Medusa is a sweeeet ride. They have a lot of other good ones too. Skull Mountain is fun, Chiller, Batman, Superman: Ultimate Flight, etc. It would be worth it to make the long trip. Coasterdime and myself almost did last October, but ended up driving another 4 hours longer to SFNE. But I agree, Kingda Ka is an iffy installation. Not sure why they spent the money on it, when its needed in so many other places. Six Flags is much closer to bankruptcy than most realize, in fact I'd say expect some serious changes to the organization before the year is up.

Yeah it isnt:

Ka has two tricks, TTD only has one.

Comeone designers, will you PLEASE start coming up with some rides that will do more than go up and come down? I really dont want to wait in line for a 20 second ride
