I'd kinda be interested in the lighting and sound technician, but I have no resume to prove anything that I have done.

The other thing is.. I really want to work at KI, but I have regular job that pays more than KI does and I have to work it 8 hours a day and I dont think that KI has a shift that would allow me to get from work, to work... You know what I am saying...

I think it would be so fun to work at KI. And it would make that much of a difference, I am there enough to be able to work there...

I go a lot... because I have nothing better to do... but I would have it any other way.

I would urge you to go take a trip to the job fair or make a call to ki in the next coming days, I would imagine those positions are quite limited but I would think that with all then new shows and things they are adding they would be looking for sound technicians. While Kings Island may not pay the best I have found that I don't work for the pay but more for the enjoyment of the job and the people I have met there. :)

Still go.....you could even just type up a quick list of things you have done, if youve done anything before. It wont be a big deal that you dont have a resume, you will still be able to do the interview and everything.

Not to mention that if you have any sound experience at all, you can put that on your resume'. It doesn't necessarily have to be official jobs. It can be hobbies and volunteer work as well.

I'd say go in there and tell them exactly what you know and exactly what you've done. The worst thing they can do is not hire you, right?

Go in and try out and make sure you let us know how everything went!

I tell ya CF just gets better and better

This job fair isn't a new CF thing.......the park has had a job fair in March for awhile now, and the entertainment department always has it's second round of auditions around this time as well.

I didnt get to go down today....

I am still a bit hesitant about it to begin with. The first, is like I say, I have a job that I cannot quit, because it is (and I mean no offense to any KI employee) my real job and has to come first. I just dont know that I would be worth hiring if I can only be there in the late afternoon or weekends.

The second is, like you said above, basically not professional, but hobby and/or volunteer for theatrical events. And since I am the only one who has any idea of how to do it, I do it. But I do it my way. I do not have a major in theater, nor have a worked in a real theatrical environment (that I would consider.) I would just think I am going in asking for a job when I am fooling myself, and looking like an idiot to them.

I do want to work there just because of what other people have said, the experience, environment, and friendships... not the money.

I may wait and see what comes of late spring. I may consider going down tomorrow (Sunday) though...

I mean... Can I just go down and talk to them and ask questions without applying?

Kings Island does have weekends only positions, in certain departments. My first season I was weekends only in Rides. My second season I was weekends only plus Friday's, but I ended up coming a lot more then those 3 days a week, I would pick up shifts, or work when needed. My third season I was open availability. KI is very flexible when coming to schedules.

i went in for an interview for a stage technician position on sunday. the only paid position i've had that is somewhat related to the position is playback and recording of video sources on air for the PBS station at my college. all other work was volunteer work: that includes the production crew (lighting, sound, video) at the same college station for four years, and involvement in my high school's drama club, and two years at my middle school's drama club, together for six years.

the people i interviewed with were really nice, and i heard some interesting things about the coming up season during the interview too.
