Having ridden Invertigo with the user I quoted above [mention]VortexBFForever [/mention] , it is also one of my favorite rides at Kings Island, and I enjoy it as it is intense but not terribly intense. I think about it like this: every time I have ridden Invertigo, I usually end up riding Xtreme Skyflyer or Drop Tower after riding Invertigo, and this is a good stepping stone for getting to those rides. If I didn’t do Invertigo, I would have never ridden Skyflyer or Drop Tower, and I highly recommend riding Invertigo going forward first. When I first rode Invertigo going backwards first, it felt a lot more intense than going forward first, but I still would recommend trying both if you have the time to. Here are my tips for Invertigo: 1. Keep your head back for the whole ride. 2. Breathe through the loops to help go through the intensity of it. 3. Despite what the General Public (GP comments are always interesting for Invertigo) says, the restraint keeps you in place, and I say this as someone who always enjoys a tighter than usual restraint. You are safe on Invertigo and the other rides, but if you are nervous, try making the restraint a little bit tighter if possible. 4. Have fun! With the removal of Vortex and Firehawk, I quite enjoy the intensity of Invertigo, but Banshee is also one of my favorite rides with loops at Kings Island. I would recommend starting off with Invertigo later on, maybe start with Bat, or Banshee to get a feel for the loops. Hopefully this helps, I was also quite nervous for my first ride on Invertigo, but thankfully I had [mention]VortexBFForever [/mention] with me to help me through it! I highly recommend going to Beech Bend Park, hopefully you can ride rumbler and some of the other cool rides, and if you want we can try to meet up depending on when we go! My first post on KIC was a topic I created, it asked out if the rides given, which would you ride? This was way before I visited Kings Island, so I was extremely nervous about the rides here at this awesome amusement park, and sweet [mention]VortexBFForever [/mention] only had less than 600 rides at that point if I remember correctly. Correct if I am wrong sweet VortexBFForever with that number, I can’t remember how many you had while writing this post here, but it was certainly more than me total. I have only gotten one (1) ride on Orion in 2020 with sweet @VortexBFForever, I am unsure how many rides I will get in 2021 due to living in Nashville Tennessee or going to college at Murray State University (Go racers), but I hope to get more than just one ride in 2021. I don’t want to start a debate about COVID-19 here, but I have parents in the dangerous age range for the virus, and I want to keep them safe. I hope that everyone is having a good day today. As we know, the coronavirus has impacted all of our plans for amusement parks, and I am among the ones who was impacted. When the news came during my spring break that I would have to move out of my dorm for the semester, I knew things were serious, and I also understood at that point that it would be horrible if my parents got it (they are near the age range where it could be dangerous). I felt like at that moment I could never go to an amusement park again for the year, but thankfully things have worked out for me, and it started late June early July. My parents let me go to Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green Kentucky during that time, I went twice in a week, and it was good to get used to amusement park rides again. Following my two visits to beech bend, I was hoping to go to Holiday World and Kings Island the following week, but my parents were extremely nervous about me going so I had to stay home. I felt hopeless, I had to cancel my reservation for July 9 at Kings Island with the reservation system, and the money for Holiday World was gone. I thought I could never go back at that point to amusement parks, but I did manage to get a picture of a smaller Drop Tower control panel at Beech Bend Park in late August early September, and on that day as well I went to the corvette museum in bowling green Kentucky which was amazing for car nerds! I was so upset I couldn’t go to amusement parks me and my parents got into arguments with me if I could go, they didn’t realize all Kings Island was doing to keep us safe, and I was going through a phase of depression (don’t blame my parents at all they want to be safe). I finally mentioned that I wanted to be with my best friend in Ohio, sweet VortexBFForever or my best friend of all time, and my parents finally opened up to listening to me and my reason. We agreed I could go October third as long as I was caught up on school work, which I was, and I was super excited! I realized that October third was a Saturday, so me and VortexBFForever both got Fast Lane, but she was working that morning to around three at Kings Island. That only gave me and her about two and a half hours to hang out, I had to leave by five thirty to make it home to Nashville Tennessee safe, as I was up for a while at that point and didn’t want to fall asleep at the wheel. I also had been messaging with Steph or Emotional Roller Coasters on instagram, we were going to ride slingshot that day, as she had never ridden it before. I will explain that part later, for now let us start the epic journey that started at three thirty October third 2020, and I didn’t plan to get up that early. I woke up at three thirty for no reason other than excitement for Kings Island, so I waited till four am to get out of bed, and then I got ready. I was ready to go by five am, so I left my house at five am from Nashville Tennessee, and I left the gas station around five thirty (a hour early). For the next four and a half hours I drove through a lot of stuff, the drive went well, but it felt long between Nashville and Louisville. When I arrived at Kings Island, I let me parents know I had made it safe, and I also let VortexBFForever know I was there. I immediately went to get my Fast Lane dealt with, then I proceeded to get tickets for slingshot for me and Steph, and I knew she was in line for Orion so I went to ride bat. I rode in the next to last row on bat by myself, it was quite fun, and it was my second ride on bat. After bat I went back to slingshot to message VortexBFForever for a bit, I was wondering where steph was, and I realized I have something called a phone I can message steph with on instagram. Steph told me it might be a little bit, so I went to ride Delirium by myself, and I thought of something while riding it. This part was hard to write but I am making it through it ok: on June 16th 2020, my brother Matthew passed, and he was 22 years old (two years older than me in case you are wondering). He passed due to an epileptic seizure in the middle of the night, I was the first to find him that way, but he was peaceful and he looked comfortable. During my first visit to Kings Island in 2018 and my only ride on Firehawk while going up the lift hill, I wondered if this is what he does daily, which is flying as an angel. Firehawk still to this day is one of my favorite rides of all time, but something I always tell myself is that Matthew would never do any of the rides I have done at Kings Island or beech bend park, and I am sure he is extremely proud of me for that. Going back to October third, I was starting to get nervous on Delirium (darn general anxiety disorder), and I yelled: “are you proud of me for this brother?” I could have swore I heard his laugh, which made anyone happy, and I started to tear up a little bit on Delirium but happy tears knowing he is a better place. Matthew I am sure is extremely proud of me for doing the rides I did on October third or in general. After Delirium, I waited about twenty minutes for Steph, and I was extremely happy when I saw her! It was the first time we have met, she got a giant hug from me instead of the normal with coronavirus, and we had an awesome time waiting for and riding slingshot! Unfortunately the video wasn’t working for slingshot, so I didn’t get a video for me second and steph’s first slingshot ride, but we had an awesome time on it! If I am able to get photos from her family I will post them here later. After waiting for nearly a hour in line for slingshot and riding it with Steph, I hung out with her and her family, and they were silly. Her sisters are crazy as Steph put it, but her family along with Steph was awesome, and it was time for me to take my next round of anxiety medicine so we got some food and a drink (I stuck with a Coke and no food for the rides later). When Steph had to ride Mystic Timbers with her family, I gave her a giant hung thanking her, and I now waited for thirty minutes for VortexBFForever near the front of Kings Island. You would think it would be hard to spot her without our favorite emotional support dragon named toothless, but when she runs past you wearing Vortex gear, it isn’t hard either. I tried to hug her but she was a women on a mission to get Vortex parts for her friends, which I understood, but she did get me out of breath from near the front to the emporium (she is a fast silly runner). I was however thankful that she ran quick though, there were only around five track pieces left from what I remember, and there was a line behind us. She wasn’t ordering the track piece for her, she was getting two for two friends, and those friends must be beyond thankful for her. After she had dealt with the track piece, we were finally able to hug after the run, and she gives wonderful hugs as always! We decided to start with Delirium, which was awesome, and I let go of her hand and the harness near the top of it which is quite fun! She did make a funny observation later, I only got really nervous and needed to hold her hand during the scans for safety, and it happened in every ride with her. We decided to hit Invertigo next, as I forgot to get the cheap tickets for skyflyer that morning and I didn’t get them due to the limited time I had at the park, and it was my first ride on Invertigo going backwards. We decided to sit at the very back going backwards (or front depending on how you look at it), so we went down the first drop backwards, and thankfully she counted and let me know when it was about to drop much like our other Invertigo rides. I have a weird thing where my head needs to be forward on Invertigo so my glasses don’t accidentally break (they have never but I am nervous about that happening), but my first backwards ride on Invertigo was quite intense, and I found out it was one of her favorite things along with Vortex and the loops. I can handle Vortex fine, but backwards on Invertigo made me feel coaster drunk getting off of it, and more coaster drunk than a normal ride on Invertigo going forward first. After the adventure on Invertigo, I told sweet VortexBFForever that I was ready for Drop Tower next, and I truly was ready to be amazed! We waited only about ten to fifteen minutes at most for Drop Tower, I was watching it in awe while I waited, and I knew I had to do it. Once we were inside the seat of Drop Tower, I got incredibly nervous, but thanks to the extremely tight harness I felt better on Drop Tower. Once I had my buckle on Drop Tower, I had to hold sweet VortexBFForever hand immediately, as I was extremely nervous. She had told me plenty of times before to wait for the top of the Drop Tower, hear a click, and count to between six and eight and then it would drop. I knew that when I sat down, but I still asked her to count for me, as I wasn’t going to look for the top of the tower and she thankfully counted. When she got to six, I said “holy”, click again, F&!$ right as soon as it dropped because I was so nervous and scared. I was expecting an extremely rough drop, but what I got was an extremely smooth drop on Drop Tower at Kings Island, and it is now one of my favorite rides at Kings Island. When we got off Drop Tower I knew I had conquered a fear of heights, I received a lot of praise from VortexBFForever herself, and I was extremely happy I had finally done it during my fifth visit to Kings Island. After the adrenaline show of Drop Tower, we went to Orion for my final ride of the day, and I had a lot of memories pop up from the fateful day of October 28 2018 (closing day or the last day Firehawk was in operation where I rode Firehawk thanks to VortexBFForever and it is still my number one coaster or ride of all time). On the way to Orion though, I finally realized how much space Vortex took up, and even during my fifth visit to Kings Island it felt weird not seeing the second loop of Vortex in coney mall. When we arrived at Orion, we almost forgot to get a locker for our things, but thankfully the crew at Orion helped us with a friendly reminder. I can’t say how much I love the theme of area 72, but as a person who loved the Area 51 memes due to how stupid they were, it made me laugh and be happy seeing area 72 at Kings Island. When we got to the top of the queue of Orion, we got an odd row so I could hold sweet VortexBFForever hand again, and soon it was off. I didn’t look down until the 300 foot drop, but I was in awe for the whole ride, and I was laughing most of the ride! What really made me laugh was when VortexBFForever said: “This part is what I call the Kuh-Kaw moment!” I soon found out that moment was a massive airtime which I actually enjoyed for once, but it was also a reference to our Firehawk ride from 2018, as she did say that when we were about to exit Firehawk from the seat. Orion, you are currently among one of my favorite rides of all time, and it goes with my number one rides/coasters of all time which are Vortex Firehawk and now Orion. I understand that some may think I am a GP for saying that, but having not experienced any other Giga coaster, I was in awe of Orion being my first one. After the laughter and memories of Orion, I had to head home, so me and VortexBFForever along with her friend Drew headed to the front, and I was beyond thankful for that day. After leaving the gas station in mason, I had a four and a half hour drive ahead of me, where the drive went well, and I made it home safe to Nashville Tennessee. My parents were amazed with all I rode that day, but they wanted me to be safe, and so I explained and confirmed that this is clearly a “safe place due to the coronavirus.” I am beyond thankful for the help I have received thanks to everyone here and the season pass holder page on Facebook, thank you VortexBFForever [mention]VortexBFForever [/mention] and Steph (I don’t know if she is on KIC but we will soon find out) for dealing with me, and thank you Kings Island for the amazing day! I have also had to find this form because my other forums were not as welcoming as KIC (Kings Island Central), but the community here is extremely welcoming, and we are looking forward to hearing about your trip to Kings Island! Kings Island has made many happy memories for me, my first trip was on October 28 2018 with VortexBFForever (she is your go to for an awesome friend to hang with all with Toothless the emotional support dragon), and don’t be afraid to ask questions that haven’t been answered on the forums before. I asked a lot of questions on this amazing forum, where the community has helped me conquer fears, and I even rode Drop Tower on my last visit to conquer my slight fear of heights! If you need any advice for Kings Island, you have come to the right place, and other parks are welcomed here as well. My current (past and present) favorite coasters at Kings Island are Vortex, Firehawk, Banshee, Diamondback, Orion, Bat, and Invertigo (I love all of them but Vortex and Firehawk hold a special place in my heart). My favorite flat rides at Kings Island are Delirium, Slingshot, Drop Tower, and Skyflyer. I hope you get to experience all of the amazing rides here at Kings Island, I have been a total of five times at the time of me writing this, and I am here for y’all and new members like yourself. When you mentioned your ride on skyflyer and how you still get nervous on it, that is so true! I will never forget the first skyflyer flight we had together my amazing friend [mention]VortexBFForever [/mention] , I should not have said something on it, but what do you expect for my first time riding it? I am happy to ride skyflyer with you again, along with many other rides, thank you for your wonderful trip report as always! In case anyone is wondering, I said something that sounded like mother trucker on skyflyer, and I did say those exact words on my second ride on Vortex (not the adult version but just mother trucker on Vortex). That was a funny memory I will remember for my second ride on Vortex, I said it, and [mention]VortexBFForever [/mention] was laughing and so did I the rest of the ride. This is an awesome trip report for our sister park! I have never heard of you being met your match with I305, that’s a really cool story, and I need to ask you about it more on our next visit to Kings Island! Something I can directly relate to is your experience with enjoying volcano a lot, we have both experienced one of our favorite rides once, you only got to ride volcano once but you loved it, and I only got to ride Firehawk once and loved it! I have never been on Drop Tower, any of the wooden coasters, Flight of Fear, Adventure Express, a some other rides I can’t remember. Sugar is a wonderful thing to have at an amusement park, I remember you telling me the story about having the root beer before riding Vortex, and I can’t stop smiling hearing that story again. I wish I could have made it to WinterFest with you VortexBFForever, you are an amazing friend, and I really enjoyed reading this trip report on the cold day of WinterFest! It was also cold in Nashville Tennessee as well, but I couldn’t really enjoy the cold like you did, as I got my wisdom teeth removed on December 17th of 2019. You could say I am Toothless at the moment, which for anyone reading this and being confused, don’t be afraid to ask VortexBFForever about our favorite dragon named Toothless from how to train your dragon (also look at the emotional support dragon in my profile picture that VortexBFForever is holding). When I get back to Kings Island in 2020, I will give you (VortexBFForever) a giant hug, and I am here if you need me for support with Vortex. Keep up the great work! I hope that everyone is having a good day. While I know this is a Kings Island forum, I decided to post my report here on this forum, as I feel extremely welcome in this forum. Beech bend park is an extremely small amusement park in bowling green Kentucky, where most of the rides there you could find at fairs, but I have my reasons for enjoying the park. I rode many first rides there, including my first Drop Tower, my first ride that wasn’t a simulator that went upside down, and other rides I didn’t feel good about riding before I visited beech bend for the first time in 2016. I also enjoy the park for how close it is to Nashville Tennessee. A drive to beech bend park is normally about a hour and a half, while a drive to Kings Island from my house is about four and a half hours, so the location is convenient for me. With all that said though, I still prefer Kings Island as an amusement park, and hopefully beech bend park adds new rides soon. I decided in 2018 before a history class at Murray State University to get a 2019 season pass for beech bend park, and I did this because the season pass was only around $40, which is around the admission price of the park. I shall now break up the park into certain categories: Overview, flat rides (I will make it easy to read there are a bunch of flat rides), coasters, employees, and a conclusion. Overview: While beech bend park is a small park, it feels like you are going through the countryside to get there, especially the last five to ten minutes of the drive. Upon arriving, there are no paved parking spots, so you park in grass instead (you are on a pavement to the grass). There is no theme to the park, the rides may be themed slightly, but there are no zones like Kings Island has (Action Zone X Base ETC). There is a small game area similar to the coney mall, but it is a lot smaller than coney mall, which doesn’t surprise me. The rides are scattered a little bit, but the rides are within at most five minutes of each other, and that is from one end of the park to the other. While I enjoy flat rides, most of them can be found at a fair or carnival, but they are still fun. Speaking of flat rides... Flat rides: beech bend park is known for flat rides and a certain coaster, but I was surprised by the amount of flat rides, there are a ton. I will only be reviewing flat rides I have ridden, so I won’t include the kiddy rides and certain family rides. Family rides: Laser Fury 360: in my thought, it combines a bumper car and a game of laser tag, but it is a waste of $6. I was expecting a ride that was interesting for the idea but what I got instead was a horrible ride. It felt way too arcadey, the other rides don’t try to make you flip, and it is extremely boring in my mind. Hip Hop Drop: this is the parks mini family Drop Tower, it goes at most thirty feet into the air, and drops the riders to a certain height. It is actually quite thrilling, I actually consider it more thrilling in some ways than the bigger Drop Tower at beech bend park, but that is just me. Sizzler: a spinning ride of epic proportions to crush your friends with. That’s the summary of it. It is basically a scrambler ride at the fair. Starship 4000: a graviton type ride that can make you feel extremely sick if you turn your head on it, trust me, don’t turn your head on it you will feel extremely drunk after the ride. Tilt a whirl: what can I say? It is a fun ride, but it is such a common ride at fairs that I don’t know what to write here, but I enjoy riding it. Thrill flat rides: Air Race: it is hard to explain, so look up “air race beech bend park” on YouTube. I really have fun on that ride, however it was down the whole 2019 season, but when I did ride it in 2018 I had a blast! The harness is tight, but not as tight as the harness of Banshee at Kings Island, but it is a comfortable ride. Most Dick: I was tempted to start signing a song from Futurama (Whalers on the moon we carry a harpoon), but I am holding myself back, but in all seriousness it is a ride that spins on a platform in either a clockwise or counterclockwise motion. Vortex (please don’t be confused with our late friendly coaster at Kings Island): Vortex at beech bend park is basically a fireball at a fair, where it is surprisingly intense, but not as intense as the opposite ride of Delirium at Kings Island. It is also a comfortable ride. Zero G: the 140 foot tall Drop Tower at beech bend park. It was my first ever Drop Tower, I first rode it in 2016, and I still get nervous riding it today. Unlike Drop Tower at Kings Island, when you reach the top it is an instant drop, but it is a somewhat smooth drop (probably not as smooth as Drop Tower at Kings Island I still need to ride that). It is my favorite flat ride at beech bend park due to how thrilling it is. Coasters: Wild Mouse: memes aside, the cars look like they are on certain substances, but it is a good little thrill. Wild mouse is a small coaster that goes up to 60 feet, and at certain points it feels like you will fall out! Spinning out: a surprisingly fun family coaster that spins more than wild mouse, which is a bunch of fun! Kentucky Rumbler: it is now the moment y’all have been waiting for, the most famous ride at beech bend park, well I should say the most famous coaster... Kentucky rumbler is a good thrill, but due to how rough it is, I don’t enjoy that much. I last rode it in 2019, where it was still rough, but I enjoy the thrill it provides. Employees: while most employees are somewhat nice, others clearly haven’t heard of the ADA (Americans with disabilities act), thanks to how they don’t understand how certain people need extra help with certain things. I have general anxiety disorder with ADHD and a general learning disorder, so sometimes I can’t find the right words to say, but Kings Island is very supportive with that. Beech bend is as well with the rides, but in the gift shop they clearly only want more money, and I have had horrible customer experience in the gift shop. Overall though the employees are nice. Conclusion: would I recommend beech bend park? Yes, it has good thrill rides for the area, and it is nearby to me. No, the employees can be awful, and the rides are nothing compared to Kings Island. Overall though I recommend going if you are in the area, but if you don’t want to go that it fine as well. Sorry for the long trip overview, I finally had a chance to write this, and I have been busy with school at Murray State University (go racers). I did decide to get not only a 2020 season pass for beech bend park, I also have a 2020 gold season pass for Kings Island, and I am super excited for 2020! Here’s to 2020.
