Everyone's talking about new rides, but what I really wish the park would do is get more trees in Rivertown and a total retheme to Action Zone. Both have gained awesome attractions over the years, but the former has lost the forest-y feel that made it so cool and the latter has lost a majority of the movie set theme. Action Zone especially doesn't match theming wise with the rest of the park. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a muti-launch or a B&M to replace Vortex. Actually, I would like to see something like Hangtime in that spot. It would be as aesthetically pleasing as Vortex and would go well with the rest of the lights of Coney Mall.2 points

Hello KI Central! My name is Alex Cutler, and I'm the main journalist covering Kings Island for the Dayton Daily News and the Journal-News. Now that the main season is over for Kings Island, and now that we know we're getting RiverRacers for 2025, I want to know what fans of the park either want or expect the park to add over the next few years. Are you hoping for an Intamin blitz coaster like Pantheon? Maybe something new from Vekoma or B&M? Do you want something in The Vortex plot, or out in the Action Zone area of the park? These suggestions can be as realistic or as wild as you'd like. Maybe you think Kingda Ka will get relocated to Kings Island after its (rumored) closing. Be as creative or detailed as you like! Feel free to respond to this post with your suggestions Thank you for your time!1 point

It is starting to look like 2026 will probably be the year for The Vortex replacement, but we've talked about it ad nauseam for the past five years. So, I wish to bring up some stuff the park could do in the years afterwards: Address the dead area of the park between the Eiffel Tower and Rivertown. I was thinking of a restaurant similar to The Farmhouse Kitchen and Grill at Cedar Point with outdoor seating and a band stage for live entertainment while eating. Bonus if they locate the restaurant across from the Rivertown bathrooms, that way you get a really good view of Diamondback's splashdown while eating. Unpopular take, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Planet Snoopy part of our kids section rethemed to DC or Looney Tunes. It would help add some variety to that section of the park, while also keeping Camp Snoopy intact so the Peanuts IP still has a place at the park. A multi-year expansion project for Action Zone, similar to what Kings Dominion is currently doing with Jungle Xpedition. The first phase involving a new flat ride like an S&S Screamin' Swing, then the second phase introducing a new coaster that also includes a renovation to the front gate of the park. Either put in a new dark ride or a hybrid between an indoor/outdoor ride using the Crypt building.1 point

Huss top spin in the Crypt building. Nothing else should go there but a top spin. And a Gerstlauer Infinity that breaks the inversion record in Vortex's plot with a batwing where Vortex's batwing was to pay tribute to the ride. And the same color scheme as Vortex. Essentially a modern day version of it.1 point

Personally I think a multi-launch roller coaster would be a great fit in The Vortex plot of land, something similar to Pantheon, but a lot of enthusiasts seem to want something similar to a ride called Voltron at another park called Europa Park in Germany. But I also think more indoor attractions would serve the park well in order to allow the park to better serve guests on days with inclement weather, as well as Winterfest as the temperature drops. Another indoor roller coaster like the Mummy from Universal, or a new dark ride would be incredible.1 point

It's a new model Mack Rides has put out. There's only one currently at Europa Park called Voltron Nevera. Think of it kind of like Mack Ride's take on a Gerstlauer Infinity.1 point

Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M) is almost always considered a viable option since their coasters are fabricated in the neighboring county and their reliability has served the part well. I don’t think it would be wise to rule out a Dive or Surf. Vekoma also shouldn’t be ruled out since the park has recently worked with them to build Snoopy’s Soapbox Racers. Premier Rides could even be an option since they’re building an impressive 9-inversion launched coaster for Canada’s Wonderland. I don’t see us getting anything from Mack for our next coaster as they manufacture their track overseas which adds $$ to the bill but it’s not impossible. I don’t see Intamin coming either since both Cedar Fair and Six Flags had basically blacklisted them for years with the later just recently getting a family styled coaster from them for their New England park pre merger. Finally, I don’t see us getting anything from Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) as the former Cedar Fair not ordering anything new from them since 2018. With Kings Island being a high attendance park, whatever they get has to be a reliable people-eater.1 point

He looks like he abducting all the humans and got a Karen. He had no idea why she kept asking for his manager and is bringing her back.1 point

I compared those two specifically because they're arguably the most popular/famous rides in their respective parks.1 point

Nah, I can guarantee I am not renewing for 2025. I have a lot of things coming up next year and my time would be limited anyways. I just had the decision fortified by the year 2024 was at the park for me.1 point

I'm glad I decided to take that side trip to Great Adventure back in July (I had already planned to revisit Hershey, Dorney and Knoebels, and decided I might as well do Great Adventure while I was in the area since it's 9½ hours from Cincy). I got two rides on Kingda Ka and at least two on Green Lantern as well.1 point

If you're interesting in finding more historical aerial photos of the park or anywhere in Ohio, go to the link below. I've been using their Google Maps KML file to view images for years, but it appears they now have a web portal that presumably is much easier to navigate and work with. Beware, this is an easy way to lose a few hours (or an entire weekend) if you start exploring that content. https://www.transportation.ohio.gov/working/engineering/cadd-mapping/survey/aerial-imagery1 point

I finally got to this episode recently. First let me say I love both Tower Topics and The Attractions Group podcasts. Always interesting stuff... That house has fascinated me for some reason. At one point not too long ago I went down the rabbit hole of seeing what historical information might be available about the property online and learned quite a few things. None of that is super exciting, but perhaps a few details might be worth sharing... Based on various property records, I believe the house was built sometime between 1954 and 1956. I can't speak for or against the accuracy of the supposed agreement to not tear it down, but FWIW it was actually one of three houses side by side all along what was the east side of Columbia Rd that Kings Island left standing, and apparently used in some capacity, for many years. Each property had different owners prior to Taft purchasing each of them separately in early 1970. All 3 houses were still standing at least until 1986. 2 of the three until at least 1993. By 1997 only the one in the fort remained. Hopefully I'm attaching these images correctly... The first one is snip from a survey from 1984 showing each of the original property boundaries of the three houses KI kept around. The house in the fort is the southern most of the three plots in the red circle. The other images below are all snippets cropped from aerial photos made available online by the Ohio Department of Transportation. In each one the "fort house" is circled in red. Here is 1956. Fort house is recently built. The middle of the 3 houses is being built. No sign of the northern house yet. The old farm house further north in this photo would not survive the park opening. Here is 1957. The middle house is now complete. The fort house has added a pond. Still no sign of the northern most house. Here is 1964. The northern most of the 3 houses the park would keep is now present. The middle house has added a garage or large shed. Here is 1970, the year Taft purchased each property. All 3 houses were purchased on different dates in Jan and Feb of that year. The northern most house looks to have added an addition to back since the 1964 photo. This one is at an angle that gives a reasonable idea of what the housed looked like before the park owned them. Also of note the old farm house further to the north is still standing at this point. Here is 1972. The park is open now. All 3 homes are still standing. The older farm house that was further north is gone. This photo shows what Don described in the episode that the train did not originally come particularly close to the house. Here is 1974. Cars parked at all 3 houses. This one is angled to show a bit of the front of the houses. Here is 1975. Another one showing a decent look at the houses. Here is 1986. All 3 houses still standing and appear to still be used in come capacity. Here is 1993. The middle house is now gone. It would have been in the way of the re-route of the train for the water park. The fort is now build around the southern house. The northern house is still standing though. Here is 1997. The northern most house is now gone, only the southern one inside the fort survived this long.1 point

I would like to say I was impressed with one of the chefs at French Corner today. They took our order we got the fall special the tomato soup and the open fsged grilled cheese. Well apparently they were out of soup as apparently it's made in a different location. The chef came out to apologize and offered us free cheese cake for our wait. We did get our food finally but I appreciate him going above and beyond. Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk1 point

Good luck trying to get hot chocolate tonight, several machines have went down tonight, I tried 3 times and all 3 times no hot chocolate. It’s a travesty on so many levels that all of International street has no hot chocolate period.1 point

That only works for the rides that do not re-open like Racer, WindSeeker, Shake Rattle Roll, Eiffel Tower, etc. The majority of people don't leave The Beast line once is shuts down for fireworks. It could be some nights almost an hour it sits between shutting down early, the show, waiting to get the signal to re-open, all the while the line remains open until 10pm and continues to grow. This results in that ride getting out later than had it not closed. It may not be a direct correlation to the amount of time it was shut down, but on many nights, the line could have been cleared out by the time the ride is re-opened had it not had to close.1 point

Going back on-topic to what kind of ride I could see going in The Vortex plot, I find it interesting that out of all the Six Flags parks that have put out surveys over the past several months, Kings Island was the only park that I'm aware of that put out two different surveys as opposed to just one. Interestingly, the second survey had an option for a 10-inversion Infinity coaster that I believe did not appear on any surveys from the other parks. I think a Gerstlauer Infinity on The Vortex plot would fit pretty nicely there, though if Kings Island wanted to get something more unique while also delivering a similar ride experience to that of an Infinity coaster, I feel a Mack Stryker would be an absolutely incredible fit for that plot of land. It would be the first-of-its-kind in North America and the park could still go for 10 inversions if they wanted to. However, it would likely be more expensive compared to a Gerstlauer Infinity so I could see the park continue to go in that direction if they don't want to spend $25+ million on a Mack Stryker. Whatever the case, I hope we'll get our answer soon if the park indeed is planning to put something in that plot for 2026 so we can put these kinds of discussions behind us. Though I'm aware speculation like this won't end with The Vortex replacement and there will continue to be speculation for future additions even beyond that, like Action Zone for example.1 point

So I got Coney BBQ tonight using the single meal pass. The person at the register said that drinks aren't included in the single-use dining plan even though it clearly says in the app that it does. Did they change it without updating it in the app or was it an error on their part? I did not have this problem when I used one two weeks ago. I suspect what might have happened was that they misinterpreted my plan as an all-day dining plan, because they said I needed to upgrade to the premium dining plan to get a drink. Wouldn't the system tell them that was not the plan I had?1 point

I had the same experience with French Corner closed often during the week. But the bars around the park were usually open so hopefully because they added a bar it opens daily moving forward.1 point

I am hoping since they remodeled and added the bar that they will be open more often moving forward. There were countless times we went over the summer that they weren’t open.1 point

The Shrimp Sandwich was one of my favorite dining options this summer. It's amazing how good the food really is at Kings Island, and how few people talk about it.1 point

I think I liked it as much as the Shrimp Sandwich from The French Corner, and that says something. That Shrimp Sandwich has been my #1 food item of the season. I would like to see them keep the Meatwich around at the French Corner, maybe as a French Dip.1 point

So was the chili offering just a fake or does it really exist and if so where????1 point
