  1. Personally I think a multi-launch roller coaster would be a great fit in The Vortex plot of land, something similar to Pantheon, but a lot of enthusiasts seem to want something similar to a ride called Voltron at another park called Europa Park in Germany. But I also think more indoor attractions would serve the park well in order to allow the park to better serve guests on days with inclement weather, as well as Winterfest as the temperature drops. Another indoor roller coaster like the Mummy from Universal, or a new dark ride would be incredible.

  3. Hello KI Central! My name is Alex Cutler, and I'm the main journalist covering Kings Island for the Dayton Daily News and the Journal-News. Now that the main season is over for Kings Island, and now that we know we're getting RiverRacers for 2025, I want to know what fans of the park either want or expect the park to add over the next few years. Are you hoping for an Intamin blitz coaster like Pantheon? Maybe something new from Vekoma or B&M? Do you want something in The Vortex plot, or out in the Action Zone area of the park? These suggestions can be as realistic or as wild as you'd like. Maybe you think Kingda Ka will get relocated to Kings Island after its (rumored) closing. Be as creative or detailed as you like! Feel free to respond to this post with your suggestions Thank you for your time!

  4. Agreed. my wife does not do spinney rides and we rode it 5 times in 1/2 hr. Unless the car is out of balance, there is not a lot of major spinning.

  5. There are a lot of suggestions for Kings Island (Sxi Flags) would be several things: 1. Special Events in Spring months (April & May) like Peanuts Celebration and/or expanded Food & Wind Festival would be a great kickoff to the season before the Summer operation begins in May. 2. Yes---With The Bat & Banshee there.....I could absolutely foresee the possibility of renaming Action Zone into Mythical Village or Haunted Zone....It could go either way. 3. A new roller coaster. I would not be surprised if it will become Vortex The Grip of Fear by way of B&M or Vekoma or Premier 4. New restaurants 5. Renovated bathrooms 6. Expanded shows 7. I would not be surprised if a new themed zone area will be added and be called Jungle Xpedition the same way as what Kings Dominion does.

  6. Actually that ended up being the Zamperla family coaster they announced this morning. Speaking of the Intamin family coaster they announced yesterday, I think it looks fantastic. Now I know our 2026 addition is likely not a new coaster but if it was and we got this type of ride, I would be very happy.

  7. To be fair, top Thrill Dragster probably seldom if ever operated with a single train but when I went to Great Adventure in 2022, Ka was one train ops and opened late. When Kingda Ka most likely was one train ops on a regular basis and considering was down for half the season on multiple occasions, that can really hurt the annual ridership.

  8. Why do they keep sticking that (what I would argue is best show) in the kids area where it gets drowned out. I wish they’d move it to the plaza in front of back lot, there’s seating on planters, add a few benches, leave all the lanterns above the walk from HAUNT, and put the stained glass nativity along the pathway with soft carol music. That way the show would have a defined area, and an entire “world” built around it. Maybe even do a “country church” front entrance set.

  9. Intamin just announced a new family LSM coaster concept. The video looks very similar to the "family thrill coaster" survey option that was going around earlier this year. https://x.com/coasterchitchat/status/1858578612313522344

  10. I found a really interesting looking family thrill ride model that I think could fit inside the Crypt building pretty well. Here's a video of the ride experience as well. I think even if this doesn't go in the old Crypt building, it would be a good family thrill ride that doesn't seem to be at any other park in North America.

  11. Even if the cost is high, whether it be the proposed motion stage or a flying theater, its not to say the programming and show couldn't change every few years similar to action theater. You could market it as an entire new ride if ridership begins to drop, and then long term it could be a worthly investment. You could even make a more extreme version for haunt, or holiday version for winterfest

  12. It's sad when the former PR guy conveys more information than the current PR people do. Last winter I found out about the Kings Island show auditions from Theme Parks by Don and told my sister and her boyfriend who are music majors about it and my sister told me she couldn't find anything from Kings Island about having auditions. I told her to trust me that I had a source better than the Kings Island communications and about a week before the audition was scheduled was when the actual PR made an announcement. My sister said that a lot of people they go to college with said they would have auditioned but were unaware about the date and time or didn't feel they had enough time to prepare. All I'm saying is that I don't even bother reading the KI blog articles or reading their press releases anymore because I'm not going to get any information I'm interested in or want to know anyway. Tower Topics and KIC have been much better sources of information since the public relations changed at KI

  13. Kings Island is and always has been a family park. Yes, we have had major, ground breaking rides, but the family demographic is their bread and butter. (I think an original tagline for ads in the early years was something along the lines of "America's Largest Family Entertainment Center") With the pass base we currently have, they will continue to cater to families as it works for them. If they cut hours, service, extras etc and it erodes the passholder base and they loose attendance numbers and revenue, they would reevaluate things. But with cheap passes, people will renew and buy in droves. CP is a resort destination, which Kings Island originally also intended to be. This never materialized for KI as there is not a resort draw to the area. Therefore, CP put in a concerted effort to draw people into Sandusky to fill up hotels. The locals won't stay in their hotels, but destination seekers will. That puts money in CPs coiffurs. They have to keep upping their game to maintain hotel occupancy. Hence they have winter entertainment with the sports and gaming complex and purchased sawmill Creek to use year round to compliment their indoor water resort. The concept that they want to sacrifice other parks only to prop up CP is ludicrous. They want to cater to each market base and capitalize on the benefits of doing so.

  14. A special event in the spring months (April and May) like the Peanuts Celebration or an expanded Food & Wine Festival would be a nice kickoff to the season before the summertime live entertainment lineup starts.

  15. Literally right! I prefer a standup over a floorless but even if they move green lantern to another park and convert it to a floorless it's still better than scrapping it. There ride isn't that old. Heck if they moved iron wolf and it's still beating the crap out of people at six flags America, they by golly had better let green lantern live on at another park where people would be really happy to ride it. Imagine how much people would love it if it went to one of the smaller six flags or if it went to valleyfair? People at those parks would value that ride much more. It's not that green lantern is a bad ride but it faces a similar situation that Mantis at CP did which was that it's one coaster in a sea of other good coasters and it just so happens to be more uncomfortable than some of the others so the ridership is lower and the complaints are higher. (I personally never thought it was uncomfortable but I have an amazing track record with stand-ups) My point being please six flags don't scrap it but let it live on and delight some guests at a smaller park who would be thrilled to have it in their lineup.

  16. Welcome to KIC Alex! Id like to see a big log flume in the old Vortex spot. Something like Steel Vengeance in Action Zone would be a great addition as well.

  17. Hey thanks to @AlexCutlerDDN for starting this forum to get the opinions of the fans. First of all, Vortex was a very special coaster with historical significance to the park. To this day I'll never understand why they demolished that beautiful station house that was used for both the original Bat and Vortex. (Meanwhile they leave the action theater, tomb raider, and Son of Beast station house sitting around looking terrible) So back on topic, I have some ideas for The Vortex plot and on new attractions in general. I feel that there has been a strong family focus on the park since the addition of Banshee in 2014. Mystic Timbers was a good family coaster (48" height requirement) addition, the antique autos was a great family ride, they revamped Octoberfest into adventure port with some new flats, and we had two planet/camp Snoopy additions in 2016 and 2024 respectively. Orion has been the only real big bad thrill ride addition and I'd like to see something a bit more on the thrill level replace Vortex. Just about anything by Mack rides would be fantastic, I'd go for an Intamin launch coaster like pantheon, or I'd love to see a new gen Vekoma (especially a flying coaster that could use that terrain and pay homage to Firehawk as well as Vortex). As for other additions, boo Blaster needs to go sooner rather than later and I am 100% behind a phantom theater revival. However, one could make the case to build a ground up phantom theater elsewhere in the park and that would be great as well as long as it stays true to the original attraction and does use practical effects and animatronics. I would like to see an indoor coaster or dark ride return to the tomb raider building. @Cedar Fair Fanboy has a great idea of a vekoma madhouse in that space and I think it's a really solid idea. We all know that Action Zone needs a refresh/retheme however, I would much prefer to see The Vortex plot addressed, phantom theater return, and a new attraction inside the tomb raider building before removing or retheming rides in Action Zone. I think the Action Zone refresh can wait until around 2030 and let the other projects take priority. I guess that is my opinion for what it's worth and the only other thing I should mention is they should do whatever refurbishment/maintenance necessary to keep the Monster and The Bat operating for many more years to come. Keeping both of those classics is more important to me personally than getting a new ride of any kind.

  18. Have you ever been on Time Traveler or Ride to Happiness? Time Traveler is not nauseating at all to me. I rode it 25 times in 100 degree weather in the same day and enjoyed every single ride. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

  19. What I would really like to see for The Vortex plot is either a Mack Xtreme spinner or a Mack Stryker coaster. I feel that Mack Rides is something that we lack and is very unique. There’s nothing like it around. I think the Stryker coaster is more likely so I’ll go with that one. It can deliver high capacity, marketable, a relatively low rider height requirement at 50 inches, and it would fill the gap of a modern launch coaster that we need. Also in the future I would like to see an Action Zone retheme. Possibly to a haunted area or something with Banshee and The Bat already there. Whatever it is Action Zone really needs a new identity.

  20. For The Vortex plot...the GCI hybrid coaster that was introduced a few years ago. A climate controlled eatery to replace killmart, with patio views of The Racer, Antique Autos and Orion. ( We need a climate controlled eatery on that side of the park if Winterfest is going to be around long term). A Verbolten style ride in The Crypt building, but themed appropriately to Rivertown, with the building exterior themed as well While we theme outdoor buildings, redo the exterior of FOF and the back side of KI Theater. I think projection mapping would be a good idea along with go away green paint. Redo of Action Zone with a significant coaster, flats and trees. Front entrance enhancement...make the big roof look more European, replace the flags above the arches, and add pavers. Put the big Kings Island topiary back in on the landscape berm, renovate the buildings on the left side to be more international. Put in a new dark ride. Staff the park with varying demographics so that the park could have extended seasons when kids are in school.

  22. Huss top spin in the Crypt building. Nothing else should go there but a top spin. And a Gerstlauer Infinity that breaks the inversion record in Vortex's plot with a batwing where Vortex's batwing was to pay tribute to the ride. And the same color scheme as Vortex. Essentially a modern day version of it.

  23. This may be controversial, but I feel like a front gate coaster does not make sense for the park. I feel like the Eiffel Tower is our front gate coaster because it is the icon when you are pulling up the park. Other parks like Cedar Point and Carowinds do not have such a structure like the Eiffel Tower that is visible from all around so a front gate coaster makes sense for them. But I feel like pulling up and seeing the Eiffel Tower is so iconic for the park and would not want to see that change.
