  1. Let's throw this into the mix (as I sit and contemplate the fuzz in my bellybutton).... How about moving that dipper thing, near Cleveland, to KI? It would be a nice, even addition for everybody.

  2. Lately there have been lots of topics and discussions about theme - of individual rides, of areas of a park, of theme v amusement for a total park. My question is - for you, what would be good theming? My answer: I like an area of a park to be themed: buildings, food, music - with rides lightly themed to fit in (for example King Cobra in the then animal/safari area) I have very little need/interest in highly themed individual rides.

  3. Who all thinks Surf Dog would be cooler if they had a big surfing Snoopy on top? They had the big Aang, so I think they should replace it with a big Snoopy!

  4. I do not need over the top individual ride theming either. I prefer an area themed and the rides to appear to fit into that area, even if it only means that the paint scheme & the name "fits". I also like it VERY much when the music in each area is distinctive...it sets the mood.

  6. All I can say is wow. That is truly outstanding, the Koch's are a class act. I cannot wait to get back to Holiday World this summer. On a slightly less happy note, if anyone still had doubts about whether some people will complain no matter what: All you can do is shake your head.

  7. Ok, so I went To Kings Island today. I went with my mom, sister, and friend Nathan. So yeah, here I go. I got there around 8:50AM. I stood by the front gate for a couple minutes, then saw Jonathan/jcgoble3 walking towards the entrance. I said hi, and then it was time for the national anthem. We then all headed to Diamondback. This would be a first time riding Diamondback for my mom and my sister. It was a walk on and me and my friend got the back row. As always, a fun ride. We then switched seats so we could stay on, because there was somebody waitng for the back. After that ride, we stayed in our seats becuase nobody was in the row. After THAT ride, we switched seats again to an empty row. After another ride, it looked like all the rows would be full, so we just got out and went back in line. We got out and went back in line 2 times after that, then headed to rope drop. We made it just in time to the Eiffel Tower rope drop, and I found out thats where Jonathan/jcgoble3 was. Jonathan took off, and me and my friend followed. When we got to the X-Base, I was worn out. We all got in line for Firehawk for it's first ride of the day. We got row 4, and strapped in, as I sat with Nathan and Jonathan. A fun ride, as usual. We all headed to Flight of Fear, only to see a long line out of the entrance and it was closed. So, I had to meet with my mom at 10:15 at The Racer, so I headed there. Blue was closed, so we went in red. There was a walk on for the front row. It seemed a bit less shaky then my rides in the front row on the blue Racer during Coasting For Kids. We then headed to Action Zone. Delirium was closed, (And it was closed the whole time I was there) so we headed to Invertigo. The line was only about 5 minutes. It was a fun ride, as usual. (I sure am repeating myself!) Next was Drop Tower. There was a small line, and me and Nathan got seats 39 and 40 next cycle, so we barely made it. When we were going up, I saw Jonathan and my mom and my sister. Thats the last I really remember of seeing Jonathan that day. A fun ride, and its nice going taller than Son of Beast. We then took the walk to Flight Deck. Me and Nathan love the front row on FD, and refused to not go in the front this ride. The wait,, including the walk, was about 10 min if you rode the front row. Again, a fun ride, as usual. We both were hot, so we went to Congo Falls. It, as always, was a walk on. We got pretty wet, and also waited at the bridge to get soaked. I then met up with my mom in the Festhaus. They got some overpriced stuff to eat, and I got what I thought was then 2nd best value in the park food wise, (behind Rivertown Junction) Skyline. I got 3 coneys. After that, we headed to WindSeeker. It was just a short 5 minute wait. We then all headed to Backlot, which was also a short 5 minute wait. Then we had time for 1 more ride before we had to go at 1 (something Nathan has to go to) and we went to The Beast. Surprisingly, it was a walk on. Fun ride. We walked towards the exit, kind of the long way becuase I wanted some watermellon at the Coca-Cola marketplace. It was pretty good, just there was a few white pieces, and I don't think watermelon is totally in season. Some notes on the day: *It was not very crowded. The worst thing I waited in was the front row of flight deck for 10 minutes. Likely because it was hot, driving everyone to Soak City. *Flight of Fear did open, though I'm not exactly sure when. *Delirium also said it was closed on the rides closed on the outside of the front gate. *I now have unlocked all the Level 1 FUN Perks rewards, but have not leveled up. Also, I still haven't been to Soak City. Thanks for reading!

  8. JR, I'm going to be quite frank with you. You're an all around moron who keeps looking for our enlightenment with ever post you make. This forum at its core is one of the better ones you see with a great community in comparison to many MANY other forums. People like you that bring their all mighty and all knowing presence just damper every topic they post their filth in honestly make me want to read less and less from this site, which is a shame because I have been part of it since 2005. Do me and my friends here on this site a huge favor; stop lying, being a snob, being all around disrespectful, and give us our right to make up our own minds and call you out as a liar if we see fit. Even in the VERY unlikely chance you are telling us the truth, if I were you I would read over what you post because a lot of it puts a bad taste in our mouths. Now I do not post things like this often (if ever, this is probably my first), but I want to continue enjoying my time on this site, so please, allow me to continue doing that! Thank you. I'd love to see a custom Rocky Mountain Coaster in the park. I for one love wooden coasters and feel there are not enough of them being built anymore. I'd love to see this new generation of smooth wooden coasters get its big break in the industry!

  9. Ding ding ding, we have a winner*. Bryan Edwards (a marketing manager from Cedar Point) said just this at the ACE Northern Ohio Holiday Party back in December. He also added on that we'd likely see a competition of sorts between the brands to get a contract renewal for 2013 and onward. Guess that's where the Freestyle machines and Luminosity sponsorships are coming from. *Well, mostly. You're pretty much wrong about Pepsi being better.

  10. Since you could care less, you do care some. Unless you are just being careless and mean you couldn't care less. My guess is you do care some, or you wouldn't be responding. It's always interesting, by the way, just who has no specific on topic comment about threads like this one. Terp. just sayin'

  11. Why would Cedar Fair execs give away some of the company's most private information to a complete and utter stranger? It's like if I came to you and asked for your credit card number. Would you give it to me?

  12. Wasn't aware you had a crystal ball? I'd say we're more likely to get a new coaster some time soon than we would be to see anything done with Son of Beast besides have a wrecking ball hit it. No suits have spoken to you.

  13. And there are many, many reasons for that: Universal is a small part of a huge media conglomerate. The resort makes up only a small portion of the company's total profits. You pay a lot more to visit Universal than you do to visit KI. As a result, guests expect more (just as you would expect more from a Maserati than you would from a Chevy). Universal sees much bigger crowds than KI does. As such, they need to find ways to get large groups of guests on and off their rides as quickly as possible. Having lockers which are free for a certain period of time encourages guests to leave their stuff in lockers instead of carrying it onto rides.

  14. Never been on the aerial chase (but should soon now that my son is 44") but woodstock express has plenty of room for anybody's upperbody I would think, lots of room there, however on the leg side, the cars are fairly short. I'm not the tallest person in the world 5'9"-5'10" but I usually slide my knees over to my son's side of the seat so they're not banging on the seat ahead. I've never tried the pumpkin coaster (the smallest coaster in the park) as my son rode with his mom the first couple times last year, then his cousin that usually tagged along with us before growing tall enough for The Beastie last summer, at which point that ride was pretty much history. Based upon watching him load, I'll assume size wouldn't be an issue, but leg room could be? At 48" and 6 years old she should be able to handle that ride by herself anyways. Finally, you may be surprised what she'll want to ride. My previously mentioned niece is a little older than your niece but just hit 48" this season. As I said, she usually tags along with my wife, myself, mother in law and our kids. She was pretty excited about being tall enough to ride the big coasters, and said she wanted to ride The Beast right away. I was wondering if she's back off once I got her near the station and she could see the lift hill, but she rode it no fear, and as we were walking off, she asked me what the ride next to it was. I told her it was The Vortex, and she asked if we could ride that next. I asked her is she understood that it went in loops and she'd be going upside down, and she gave me that look that said "duh" while expressing no fear. So after dinner, we rode The Vortex. I was planning to break her in on th Racer, stunt job, flight deck, and Adventure Express, but she had different plans to attack the biggest and scariest off The Bat. The other day, we were all back at the park and she wanted to ride drop zone with my wife. I'm not even sure if you can ride that at 48" or if you have to be taller, but she was all set to ride it after dinner until my mother in law was telling her how her and father would never ride that thing, they're too scared of heights. At that point, she decided she was too scared to ride drop zone that. anyhoo, the point is, let her dictate what coasters she wants to ride if she doesn't know to be scared to ride The Beast or flip upside down on The Vortex, or free fall on drop zone, she may have no qualms about riding anything.

  17. Why the heck would they put this "Coke Swelter Stopper" inside Soak City? "Inside the Swelter Stopper, frosty bursts of air and snow welcome visitors to an icy oasis in June." Yeah that's exactly what I want when I'm soaking wet, a nice frosty burst of air! I would, however, enjoy a nice frosty burst of air and a refreshing Coke if I were walking around the main, dry park. Seems a little off to me.

Boo's blaster's back to Phantom Theater and Snoopy to Nick again. future attractions will kick it up a noch by trying to rivail with uinversal and Diseny.

  25. I wore the sunglasses and carried the smokes rolled in my shirt sleeve. To your point, yes, the things we think we have to have on us has gotten kind of weird. A couple of nights ago we went to a place where we would need to mute our phones for an hour. I opted to just leave mine in the car since I wouldn't need it. My wife assumed I had forgotten it and picked it up. I put it back. She was surprised. Then hers went off twice during the meeting. I've been married long enough to keep my mouth shut about it.

  28. Which does NOT mean he was not disabled. My mother died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She could walk...about 15 feet. After which she was completely exhausted and out of breath. Assuming someone is as able as most of the rest of us based on appearances is at best ignorant (which means not knowing) and at worst a sign of arrogance. Not all disabilities can be seen. Perhaps the man in question WAS a faker, but there is a very good chance he was not.

  30. I don't remember where I heard it- but the -then- Top Gun roller coaster was being measured for removal when GWL was built for a possible north entrance. i don't remember where I heard that- look at my posts from 5-6 years ago and I might have put that, i'm not going to look. I does sit back by itself and they don't go out of their way to make it look nice. I'm not lending credibility to the original post of this thread- but I think that it does fall in line with what has to be brewing. Whether or not those conversations took place or not is irrelevant... any park-going patron knows that something is going to happen to SOB sooner or later and that its removal will likely be coupled with some broader project in the area. Back in May, while in AZ, I watched from afar as a CF entourage looked over SOB in plain view of anyone walking by making hand gestures. then as they walked by I overheard "we have several months before that announcement will be made." They could have been referring to announcing that they were going to fix pot holes in the parking lot for all I know- but if I were a betting man I would bank on an announcement regarding AZ coming- and it will probably include information on the future of a certain 200 foot wooden structure.

  32. As others said, KI is going to try to maximize profits, so they've surely taken the idea that sharing will happen (against the rules of the wristband, if there are any, or not) into account. They're obviously targeting a certain demographic with the wristband. Most likely, me. I carry around the same bottle of water all day and fill it up at fountains. I don't need soft drinks, I have water. I actually drink a lot of water and there's no chance I would pay $30+ for the equivalent volume of soft drinks during a day. I am also not interested in carrying around the oversized souvenir cup. However, I will pay $5 for a wristband that lets me get the 20oz drinks on demand. So, the park has $5 more than it used to have, at a cost of very little--fountain drinks are extremely cheap for them to provide. The only real question is how much they are losing from the people who would have spent $30+ on drinks, and are now spending only $5. I'm sure they've crunched the numbers and probably continue to do so.

  33. My wife was in line with my 2 year old to ride the little cars over in Planet Snoopy. There was a mon with a little boy and girl, both which had just bathing suits on. The ride op patiently explained that her kids had to have proper attire on (shirts, shoes, etc.) in order to ride. When the ride op told her this, the mom proceeded to go ballistic!! ( Ghetto as my wife called it.. ) talking bout " my kids already rode this @$$@ ride and they didn't have shirts on before and yadda yadda yadda. It got so bad that 3 security guards had to come over to subdue the lady, they cleared the ride and shut it down while they delt with this lady. It amazes me how some people just think they are above the rules. I was flabbergasted!!

  34. Too bad only one of you is SBNO. Really? Isn't this more than a little harsh and at least borderline cyber-bullying? I'm not saying that what Mccarthy said is true or not true but there's no need to attack in such a manner. Yes, really. If someone is willing to make outragous claims, back it up, or be prepared for criticism. If criticism is now considered "cyber bullying" I am most certainly gulity. If you consider using a enthuiast term, on an enthusiast site, "cyber bullying" I am also guilty. And finally, if you consider that to be bullying, life in the real World will certainly come as quite a shock to you. -Brown whose community status update on KIC profile page has been SBNO since March 19, 2010.
