  1. On opening weekend, while waiting in line for the Banshee queue to open, I heard someone say that they thought the Delirium tower was part of Banshee. And then later while in line for Racer I saw some guests in line looking over towards Adventure Express, they said that was the old Vortex station. Since that was passholder weekend, I would think that they would know those things.

  2. Pics or it didn’t happen! Oh, wait, this didn’t take long to get out. I’m normally very sympathetic to the company. You can’t blame them for being a victim of their own success. However, when you know exactly how many people will be in the park due to the reservation system you have both a unique advantage and a and lack of excuse for preparation. They knew exactly how this day was going to go well in advance. This is entirely on them. I get that they were short staffed. Okay, wouldn’t they have a pretty good idea that it might be a problem months ago? They sure as hell would have known when they launched the reservation system. Why did they allow that many people in the park when they only accommodate a fraction of it? Why are you closing lines because the crowd that you sold tickets to overwhelmed the system? Why did you open if you weren’t ready? What if an emergency had happened? Would the “staffing issues” be the excuse that is presented if someone where to get hurt? These are the things I think about.

  3. Wow, lots of negativity towards CP! IMHO, even on the worst day, CP is better than the best Six Flags park. I've had bad days there but never a "I'm never coming back" day. As mentioned earlier--international workforce is gone this year. They do not have a labor pool to draw from like other CF parks. Their pay is good. Even parks like KI in larger employment markets have a hard time filling positions and have relied on international workers. Then there are the Intamin downtime issues added into the weather issues with other rides. Add in the pent up demand that is going to be at all parks this summer, and you are going to have a bad time if you don't set your expectation appropriately.

  5. I believe we have our next decoding topic folks Genuinely I have my wish lists but at the end of the day here are the facts: We literally just got a new coaster last year that some outlets are still saying is "new" for good reason. If the time tables are still on some form of track, I believe within 2 years we will see a food/Planet Snoopy addition, 3-4 for a waterpark addition, then 5-6 for a main park attraction. IMO we do not need a new coaster, at least for awhile. I think the park just is lopsided now with Orion (which I suspected before hand). We have a good top 3-4 lineup, but we don't really have a good support with our flat rides. Same can be said about our coasters but the last time we actually got a thrilling/active flat ride was in '03 with Delirium. I could very easily see this become the next tin box item in the park, just due to the time tables. With that being said, I'm not ruling out a coaster out right, as I believe there will be a coaster, it just might be awhile. I would absolutely love to see a RMC come to KI or a B&M floorless as honestly those are two items the park could really do a lot with. But what can I say, I'm just friends with the Dippin' Dots guy.

  6. I just hope the food lines get sorted out as the season goes on [emoji14] I'm sure they will and it was just because everyone wanted to be at the park these last two weekends which is great, but I don't like standing in line for over 20 min just to get a drink lol. 7. Tone it down? How could you possibly say that when we are obviously on track to get a 550 ft RMC T rex that’s 7000 ft long while setting the world inversion record?

  8. I think there are a few things at play. 1. Isn't CP the park that depends on international visas the most? All of the other major CP parks are within 20 to 30 minutes of metro areas so they have a bigger domestic workforce population to pull from). 2. Operationally they struggle for whatever reason. It isn't just the Intamins either. Valravn and Raptor seem to have a lot of issues. KI, Wonderland, and Carowinds don't seem to have this issue. 3. I have joked that CP is the park you date and KI is the one you marry.

  10. I don’t think it was about the souvenir cup. I think her point is she paid for a locker and got in line, and now she’s being told that she isn’t allowed to wait in line - which would be fair grounds to be upset.

  11. They gave us an extra year. That is not extirely true. They made all our passes and addons good for 2021. If you live in Canada or California did you get an "extra year? All parks canceled Winterfest Haunt and all other events for 2020. Some parks have canceled Winterfest for this year and Haunt is likely canceled again. For those with Platinum did Carowinds or King's Dominion open in March 2021 like normal? Was Knotts open in Jan? Today is May 17 2021 and can I cross the border and go to Canada's Wonderland with my platinum? Are park hours the same as we expected them to be when we bought our 2020 passes in 2019? IE wheres the midnight closing in the summer and 1am Haunt closes. Look at parks like Dorney who are not opening a full 7 day week at all during the summer. How about the fact that the parks that did open for 2020 opened in July or later. I do not see 2021 as an "extra year". If anything I still do not think as a platinum holder with meal, drink and Fast Lane plans that I have even got a normal 1 years worth. I could not use my drink plan as needed last Sat due to long lines. food was the same way and if you were at Cedar Point you were not getting your moneysworth from FLP. Will I renew for 2022? As it stands probably only my platinum pass and maybe not even that. I likely will go ahead and buy the pass even though I tell myself I should not because I'm in Columbus. I like being able to just hop in the car on a nice day and go to the park unplanned. Also most of my complaints and frustrations are aimed at Cedar Point and Cedar Fair as a whole not King's Island. For the most park I love King's Island and they do not do much wrong.

  13. 1. True, hopefully next year will bring back the international visas. Also, CP only has 50% of the workforce population of KI since no one lives in the water. 2. I concur. 3. I laugh (and concur) I couldn't agree more. Seems like people are forgetting that CP gave us an extra year for the passes and any add-ons. I believe that a TON of people went ahead last year and added on a meal plan at least (some even Fast Lane) to their passes since they would get 2 years out of it. This is just going to be a different year. Busy with lines as opposed to last year that was busy with social distancing and ride capacity restrictions. As I stated last year my wife and I will be renewing our platinum with meal plans. The move to be one of the first to act last year and to make such a generous move with adding all of 2021 sealed me for a customer for years to come.

  14. The thing that gets me about walking by the site is not only the loss of the massive structure and the ride in action, but that area of the park feels eerily quiet now.

  18. Its reminiscent of when SOB was SBNO for three years which made Banshee's payoff a lot better all those years later. Vortex's land will sit vacant for a while and people will talk and speculate what'll go there. The good thing is we finally have our giga so people will *hopefully tone it down some and not fly off the handle with guesses considering we're missing a traditional sitdown multi looper. *I know I was asking a lot there when I said that hopefully people will tone it down.

  19. While the May opening doesn’t seem to work, Kings Island usually opens at the end of April, so they could have Passholder Preview Weekend at the very end of April, and have the ride officially open in May on Opening Day. I am still not sure that Kings Island will be getting the new Gerstlauer coaster though. At this point, I have no clue which park will get it.

  20. The only part that really leans me away from KI is the fact we just got Orion and the coaster is planned to open in May of next year. Unless, CF wants us opening in May to be permanent moving forward, I just don't see it being us since we usually plan on opening our new coasters in April with the park.

  24. It might be to just make a repair on an existing ride and have nothing to do with 2022. Let's let this play out a bit more before we jump to it being a 2022 project.

  25. I agree that nothing will probably happen to the site within the next two years however grass isn’t particularly expensive to plant.

  26. Based on what I read in the Kings Island book which if you haven't read i recommend reading it. You can purchase a kindle version pretty cheaply, I think we are going to see something in Planet Snoopy and a waterpark expansion before any new coaster addition.

  27. Don't forget, that included hotel properties. So now you have cut that 100 mil down a bit for coasters.

  28. So CF is investing 100 million into their parks for this year's improvements and rides for next year. The GG shuttle and free spin will be cheap allowing them to invest in CP's Gerstlauer.

  29. It didn't break the record for steepest drop, that goes to the classic Gerstlauer Eurofighters like Speed: No Limits at Oakwood and Vild-Svinet at BonBon-Land. However, it was supposed to break the record for fastest inversion but that heartline roll got removed for too many G's that caused stress on the trains and the riders.

  30. I enjoyed reading your review and I'm happy you were able to get in a ride! But the weather likely had some to do with that loss of momentum. That final day, the ride was moving a little slower, so it might not have done it justice.

  31. Yeah, the few times I did interact with young kids, I tended to use my nice farmer voice (as opposed to yelling at them in my scarecrow voice). As a point of reference, this was when I was placed midway through the maze and I was scaring and giving directions. EDIT: As a last note, that was my favorite spot, as there were so many options.
