  1. It's the work being done on The Beast for me. Can't wait to ride it!!!

  2. I would honestly like to see the whole Beast plaza redone. Rerouting the exit to it's original path would open up the other side for additional construction and paths behind the arcade/Vortex plot. But I would tear down the Crypt ride building but leave the rest of the covered queue to be themed as a mine, and add in a Screamin' Swing with it exiting out into this new plaza area instead of the other side that it used to. Next, move the petting zoo from Planet Snoopy back here with a farm/western theme like the one at CP, I think this little change would make a big impact on that area and not just be a dead end at The Beast queue. I also like Coasterteam's idea of using the queue building to extend the standby line. Maybe even close in the section next to the building too. Give it some light theming to a mining workshop or saloon. Could have little story bits/hints of The Beast legend and accounts of sightings in the area and warnings. Be kind of a mix of Orion's queue building and the sort of light theming of Mystic Timber's queue. I would add some more thematic elements (small minimal ones) to the second "queue house" of the line as well.

  3. The indoor portion of the Crypt is a wasted opportunity - its actually a well- done (or it was - not sure what is left of it) queue from its tomb raider days. The way the buildings are constructed (4 seemingly separate structures) should be easy to demo the largest and maybe even the pre-show building) and keep the tunnel and the first room as switchbacks.

  4. The property used to be a Travelodge. At this point, I can't find any evidence that it's being available to the public to rent out rooms. Something tells me "Extended Stay Sandusky" is the name Kalahari uses to refer to this employee housing facility which they own... (Okay, all evidence points to that.) Erie County Auditor records show the property registered to: Very clever name for a holding company to acquire the former Travelodge, eh? Anyway, that then leads you to Acacia Hospitality which identifies itself as: And further provides an address of: Which, as you might have imagined, is the address for none other than Kalahari - Wisconsin Dells, WI. Home of Kalahari HQ. https://www.kalahariresorts.com/wisconsin/help/contact-us/ Interestingly, there appears to be no signage from the street indicating the current use of the facility. Just a sign with directions for taxis and shuttles to pick up/drop off.

  5. I think a wheel should be separated from the Eiffel Tower a bit so it kinda has its own place in the park skyline.

  6. While I love the idea of a ferris wheel I would prefer a sky ride like what we used to have. I actually did some math through Google maps and found that if KI were to build a new entry building and place a skyride station at the top it could go over the center of the fountains, through the 50ft platform of the tower, over stunt coaster and decend right into the spot The Vortex station used to be. Now that is a view I would wait in line for everyday! Plus a great way to get to and from the front and back of the park!

  7. Crypt building is such an eye-sore nowadays. I did not once see that soccer game active at all the past two seasons. I really hope they revisit that plaza, I love all these ideas for it that I'm reading through.

  8. Didn’t mean crypt building for beast queue but for the Screamin’ Swing queue The Beast indoor queue part I meant to utilize the former snack stand building that the line goes around.

  9. https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/crime/kalahari-shooting-and-murder-three-arrested/95-9dcabf30-d5ba-4681-bcf5-e024c0ac61cf Tragic news. The article is a tad misleading about the employee housing. Extended Stay is a hotel that appears to be contracted out by Kalahari.

  10. Fun fact, Cedar Point also owns a former motel in town that is used for employee housing. It's the former Budget Host Inn on Cleveland Road, just east of the causeway, behind Castaway Bay. Acquired in 2019: https://sanduskyregister.com/news/93554/cedar-point-buys-motel-for-1m/ Used during the pandemic as a "quarantine hotel": https://sanduskyregister.com/news/245697/cp-hotel-welcomes-frontline-workers/

  11. Agreed BEAST plaza is horrible now with the soccer game, the closed Crypt, the dead end wall unless haunt is open. It’s just a non-impressive area fir such a marque attraction. Hope with all the track work there’s more to the overall project to give it a proper entrance again.

  12. Well I stand corrected. The way the article was written, from a brief reading of it made it sound like it was not directly affiliated with Kalahari. Could be Kalahari`s way of trying to distance themselves from this incident.

  13. No, not an official statement, but likely the truth. These trees can live for hundreds of years, but the area they were planted in was harsh--hardscape, very compacted soil and a small area for so many feeder roots. In addition, linden trees attract aphids and have to be sprayed with insecticide frequently. Aphid "honeydew" (poop) makes for a big mess and attracts ants, bees, wasps and all other kinds of insects. If this site exists, and if Kings Island exists in 25-30 years, there will likely be a discussion about the removal of the Autumn Blaze maple trees. And probably complaints about all the solar panels in the parking lot and buildings, and my panels will be at the end of life--as will I!

  14. Is that the official statement? That line made me laugh. I think I am most excited about the repaint of Racer with all we have learned so far about the 50th. What about the rest of you?

  15. The linden trees were likely at the end of their service life. The Autumn Blaze Maples will eventually grow in and provide shade and add beautiful fall color to IS, vs the linen trees which held on to the leaves much later in the season. But honestly, the smaller trees fit the scale of IS much better. KD does have a lovely IS, but it feels tiny and cramped in my opinion. And the concrete dividers were one of the worst KECO decisions--cold and stark. The seating on IS at KI is much, much improved over those tacky concrete pours. The ash borer has decimated trees at both parks, but I think their tower looks better without them. The ornate shrubbery and evergreen trees at KD are lovely and KI could take a hint from them.

  16. They will need much bigger restrooms if they are to expand Area 72.

  17. Love it or hate it, the Wild Thornberry’s retheme/overhaul is the reason it still stands today. That said, I’d prefer it be integrated into Rivertown again.

  18. That bathroom is almost in use. Its nice to have but when you have kids when you gotta go you gotta go so these often dont always work for us.

  19. My idea is they basically go back to how it was before. The Beast's plaza used to go beyond the fence to the right of the current entrance and the exit would be on the other side of the station by where Slaughterhouse is. I believe they had a little mining shop in the red building once.

  20. So I think they need to reconfigure The Racer Que to make it all one big que and please make the ques wider... unless you are a kid they are kinda close and uncomfortable. As for the "Old Man Beast" he needs all the que he can get. I've waited in all that stinkin que before. Not like a million years ago either. Go on a Saturday or get this opening day or the end of the season and that que is packed. Every que open. The Beast is about the only ride in the park I'll wait in all the ques to ride.

  21. Racer queue would be a simple process of arranging the rails so Fast Lane takes a loop around the right perimeter, and the rest is the primary queue with switches to bypass parts of the maze when not needed.

  22. This is needed! Me and my family always talk about how a big wheel is needed! Would be beautiful!

  23. And it would go right through the elevator shaft on the tower which would not work unfortunately.
