Cedar Fair removed the entire park from my park... But that's a story for another time...

    Since I missed the numbers game, here's my entry: 3250ft / 165ft

Maverick44, define "popular" because Magnum, Gemini, Raptor, and Gatekeeper are huge people movers every season. Maverick and Dragster barely fit in the top 10 in ridership.

And no, CF is not purchasing the lumber locally.

Yes, they will be adding to the area, more than just the new ride.

    What else did I miss?

Are you kidding. Maverick is top 6 in ridership. Show me your facts sir. Maverick may have the longest lines of any ride at that park.

First, let's look at the top 10 coasters:

    1 Gatekeeper 1,898,204 2 Millennium Force 1,721,918 3 Raptor 1,414,447 4 Magnum XL-200 1,355,861 5 Gemini 1,298,304 6 Maverick 1,153,896 7 Iron Dragon 1,092,242 8 Top Thrill Dragster 1,077,885 9 Mantis 925,667 10 Wicked Twister 794,264

That is from Cedar Point itself.

I am aware of the numbers, which is where my statement came from. Maverick has one of the slowest lines in the park, that doesn't equate to more popularity. Millennium Force is probably the most "reliable" ride Intamin has made, and that thing snapped the lift cable in less than 2 seasons. If it didn't run 36 people per train, that line would be barely faster than Maverick's.

The B&M rides are, undoubtedly, more popular when it comes to ridership. They just make quick work of crowds so the lines don't ever get as long.

Great to know your opinion! Thank you...so can we talk about KI and the new coaster they are getting now?

  3.  We are reading your posts. The posts are not coming so quickly that nobody can keep up. IMO pictures of coasters going over water apply to this thread.  I do appreciate your pictures big time. Thanks!

To add to that....We have been talking about this new coaster all day. Sure at times we get a little sidetracked but who is it hurting. There really isn't a lot of information to "decode". I just don't see the need to come in here and tell us to not talk about anything else but this project. After you have not posted at all today. I am not talking about MagLiz. You have posted great pictures and keep them coming for us who can't make it to Ki that often!

  4. You know what sucks....well sucks for a coaster enthusiast is paying all the money to go to say Busch Gardens and they have like 4 roller coasters haha. They are great coasters and I know they are a more family oriented park. Oh well just ranting. I was going to go to Williamsburg this summer but changed my mind to go to Carowinds. Hershey Park is my 2017 park.

Man, That is a big chunk of land cleared. This thing may be bigger then we think!

not all of that land is necessarily for the coater, CF has been making grand plazas for their new rides. You have to think that a lot of that land could be concrete for the plaza and the queue. They would also need land for a gift shop coming out of the exit, I imagine they'll capitalize on that as well.

I suspect the entrance, exit, gift shop, etc will all be located where the old funnel cake stand was located. The park will not want the expense of another train crossing.

Right, I do not expect a " grand entrance" with this coaster. Not like Gatekeeper and Valravn

I know people love The Racers. Would anyone be against an RMC conversion with those? lol

The Racer revived the roller coaster industry in the 70's. It has a very important place in coaster history and untouchable IMO.

But Cedar Fair removed the racing coaster at my park. So I certainly wouldn't put it past them....

I am sure they will never do anything with those. Just a conversation piece. As for that chunk of land. The last 2 grand plaza's were because they made a front entrance and a marina entrance. This coaster doesn't have an entrance near it. I wouldn't be so sure about the " grand plaza " treatment with this coaster. I can tell they may not need the little sun block things over the lines because they could be in shade from trees. I hope this is a ground hugger like Maverick. Flying through the woods ground level twisting and turning and driving through tunnels would be awesome! No...not saying Intamin. Anything with a big drop going fast  and down through tunnels. Man I am excited! haha

If it was a wood coaster......wouldn't there be huge shipments of wood. Where are these hiding at?? has anyone been by the steel factory? Any sites to be seen there?

Need some footers before a big pile of wood. No reason to have stacks of stuff sitting around of you don't have the space.

Judging by how the materials showed up just-in-time for the retaining wall, I expect a well-oiled construction schedule here.

The way I understand it alot of the wood coasters are prefab so it coms in sections. I imagine we will start see things by the end of August.
If you have the time check out this video shows a little how coasters are constructed.

Still where are these prefabbed at? I mean somewhere not too far has to have all this wood? haha Id like to see this!

So where does all this wood come from? I am sure wherever the wood is ordered from may have it all ready to be shipped. I wonder if it is a close facility. A drive by there could be huge if anyone knows where the wood is shipped from.

    Home Depot? haha

  9. I would like to see BLSC go. Particularly because of its piece of prime visual real estate. It's just not a pretty sight, particularly when compared to the scenic antique cars that preceded it in the same location. I have thought that the area could be a great location for a new scenic lake, perhaps with a Ferris wheel next to it. The entrance to the Ferris wheel in Coney Mall, or, possibly, International Street, near the Grand Carousel. Perhaps also a new sit-down restaurant overlooking the lake.

Bringing back the cars would certainly be welcomed by me too!

Otherwise, I could also see a nice, twisty woodie, maybe with some heavy scenery (trees, shrubs, etc.) around it, looking fantastic there as well.

We could only hope. I feel we may have to wait until BLSC is too old and no one rides it.

  10. BLSC will most likely not be moved, honestly. What is the ROI in doing so? Why not just add a thrill ride to that area? It would be a huge expense to move it. And how often does that really happen? Coasters do get moved within a chain, but I don't recall a coaster being moved within a park to a new location. Seems very unlikely.

On the new coaster, I am just awaiting an announcement from KI. This will be a great addition I am sure. No matter what manufacturer or specs it has, this is sure to be a great addition. If this is coming from GCI, I am hoping for something along the lines of Thunderhead at Dollywood. It proves that bigger is not always better.

Backlot is just poorly placed. That's what we were talking about. It would be a nice spot for a huge flat and bringing back the old time cars. Will they ever do that no. I feel if CF had owned the park back then there would not be a coaster sitting on that spot right now. Oh well....we can only dream.
