I got in at 9:20 and am still in the middle of the line for Orion
They opened the parking toll booths at EXACTLY 10:30. Line moved VERY nicely. Temperature check tent had a back up. Waited there maybe 10min.
Got in front gate at 10:47.
Was in line for Orion (directly under lift hill) at 10:55.
Have only moved about 15-20ft in 26min....
Currently running at about 2min 15sec loading cycles?!!?

There is literally no social distancing going on everyone is just standing where they want none of these people are in my group
That's NOT true. I'm about 100 people behind you and almost everyone is trying to keep at least 4ft spacing.

There were both 10:30 and 11:00 reservation times. If you got 11:00, you’ll have to wait until 11:00.
Yep, didn't realize that. I looked ahead to the week of the 13th and there ARE 10:30 and 11:00 time slots... like you said, this must have been gone when I reserved mine and I thought 11am was the first slot. Dang...
BUT how can there be 10:30 reservations when it says right on the website that the parking toll booths won't open till 10:30?

The parking tolls and first reservation time on all days will be 10:30 AM. The park will begin operation at 11:00 AM.
Awesome find!
Now, wonder how far they'll let cars line up out on the road? LOL! All the way back to I-71? I remember the mad house of opening day for Banshee... But should only be 1700 people tomorrow!!
Funny that it says the first reservation time is 10:30 when my reservation specifically says 11am...

I thought the parking lot did not open till 1030?
Let me know if you can find that info somewhere!

It said in their questions section on the website "ONE HEALTH SCREENING PER PARTY".

Please let me know if there's a better topic/forum for this!
It would be awesome if someone working at KI (that knew what was going to happen) could chime in!
I have first time slot tomorrow morning at KI (11am).
1. Show up at 8-9am. Park and walk up to front gate and be at the front of the line (that supposedly will be 6ft apart from each other stretched all the way out into the parking lot). Is there a specific time they open the parking lot?? Also don't know if they'll "make" people stay in their cars (that's what the reservation says you are supposed to do) or let them line up at the front gate??
2. Show up at 10am (cause they won't let you line up anyway), wait in car till I see a line start forming at front gate and then head up??
Here's all I can find about the procedure on their website:
Can I come to the park before my reservation time?
We encourage you to arrive at the time of your reservation and not prior to it. If you arrive prior to your reservation time, you may be asked to wait in your car to help maintain social distancing in the park entry plaza area.

Is your app updated? On my phone I show that an update was installed on June 23, if you have an older version maybe the Health Screening won't show up.
Good call on the UPDATE! That was it! Shows up for me now.

If I open the app and go to the "Me" tab, and scroll down just a little bit, it shows the Health Screening.
I do NOT see that in my app at all...??

Anyone find WHERE in the app to do your "health screening report"??
This page just says "Within 24 hours of your visit, open the Kings Island mobile app and complete the Health Assessment Questionnaire. "...

I was having fun tonight "walking around" K.I. virtually with the Google street view that was "recorded" on Aug 12, 2011.
There are already LOTS of things different in the past 9 years (Son of Beast gone, Banshee, antique cars, orion, Vortex and on and on). It would be a shame to just lose this cool immersive view into the past if/when they ever do it again! It's so much easier than looking up old photos etc.
I know in Google Earth for desktop you can go back in time through older satellite images, but I don't think they archive old street view images.
Is there any effort to archive all the street view images of Kings Island??
I don't even know how to attempt it...

Well, I figure the 10:30 timeslot at least gets you in the first batch - of that first group, maybe 1/4 of them will run to it - but actual entry into the park is going to be staggered due to the temp checks, etc. So....get there early?
OMG, I can only imagine the temperature checks, the reservation checks, the mask checks, and whatever ELSE, will be very SLOW the first day.... ugh....

Or at the very least hand out timed tickets so everyone isn't flocking the entrance as bad LOL.
Yea!! I don't understand how in the world they think that ISN'T going to happen when they first open every morning!? (everyone flocking to Orion)
However, there could only be a max of ~1700 people in line when they first open....
I got a reservation for first day, first time slot. Don't know if it's a good idea or not though?? Lots of "kinks" to work out I'm sure! Maybe Tues the 7th or Wed the 8th would be better...?
-
I'm guessing that disposable paper cups will be the ONLY drink plan options this year??
If so, what do you think they will do with the 8 million blue(?) souvenir bottles that have a 2020 sticker with Orion on them that they most likely already have? Change the stickers and use them next year?

What the hell? Spacing the people in lines 6ft apart doesn't do any good if there are people going the other way in the line RIGHT NEXT TO YOU!? What a ridiculous thing to even show in the video! I would have bet my life they'd only be using EVERY OTHER lane and skipping the ones right next to each other...
Such a "false sense" of doing the right thing. Just like the temperature checks are. They don't do any good unless you've been infected for 2-3 weeks and showing symptoms.

Why is there even a hearing now? Isn't it a moot point?
I think the lawsuit was just a publicity stunt and they already knew the date they'd be allowed to open. Hence the white tents already up at the entrance.

Information (opinion) on need for masks outside when in a CROWD...
"He cautioned against developing a false sense of security in outdoor areas and said protesters should seek “high-quality masks” while practicing social distancing as much as possible — even in crowds. "

Also, sorry if this was already posted but "mask protocol and report" from Universal Studios...

Once Dewine gives a DATE that "mass gatherings" can happen, THEN C.F. would have to submit their plan, get it approved, execute it and train people.
Apparently The Ohio State Fair didn't think this was possible for August, BUT they may have also decided it wouldn't be worth the effort for a one week event. Maybe C.F. WILL think it is worth it?? I feel that July 1 is VERY wishful thinking... I organize an Oktoberfest in Springboro, OH (5 to 7 thousand people) that's always the weekend after Labor Day weekend, and we are very confused/torn on what to do for this year. Our "drop dead cancellation date" is July 1.

Some, or ALL, Cedar Fair parks may remain closed throughout 2020...

First off, ABSOLUTELY AWESOME of them to have done this. Very gracious.
HOWEVER, I feel like that pretty much sums up that they are NOT very optimistic of opening AT ALL (or very much) in 2020.
Stores, bars, restaurants, breweries, etc should start opening back up in the next 4 weeks I think (hope!), but I think it will be a VERY long time till they allow 100s or 1000s of people to gather at amusement parks, beaches, sporting events, concerts, and airports again... Like maybe late late summer or fall.
If they don't, there will be "flare ups" and certain regions will have to shut down and start over again on a smaller scale.
Hope that's all wrong!!!
Glad C.F. did what was "right".

It's funny (silly?) to me they can still call that "area" Oktoberfest.... Is it really even an area anymore? How is Viking Furry "Oktoberfest"? And the slingshot thing?
What about the Festhaus you say? Oh, you mean the "panda express building"?

YEA...there isn't going to be ANY talk of REFUNDS for season passes...
"In the past MONTH Cedar Fair, which drew 25.9 million visitors in 2018, dropped from $53.97 a share to $17.34 — a 68 percent loss." - Theme Park Insider

Was just going to ask what the going odds are that the media day and opening day gets postponed!?
I'd say 50/50 right now...

Kings Island 2020 Finally Open Thread
in Kings Island

FYI, they put the "6ft spacing tape marks" in the turnstiles about 10-12ft apart to try to stagger the people in the line right next to you. They are not leaving a lane open, but that is what we thought after seeing the video a few weeks ago.
