Well, if you are planning on visiting Kings Island for three days, it almost makes sense to buy a season pass.
-
Yes, it would be. But sadly, I think that a ride like that is out of Coney`s budget.

What if you were hired to rename KI rides & shops?

Well, it just seemed rather slow paced in parts. IMO, Top Gun is more fun that Iron Dragon, although I wish Top Gun was as long as Iron Dragon. -

Well, I certainly hope that they don`t rename Top Gun to Iron Dragon. Iron Dragon was a rather boring ride. Although, it would be nice to get a bright color scheme on Top Gun similar to Iron Dragon. -
You can hear those LIMS firing. But as stated, they don`t really propel the train through the sign any faster. Furthermore, there is a set of magnetic trims right past the bridge that slow the train down before making the 180 degree turn into the station.

Why does everyone want to rename Flight of Fear? It no longer has any movie license associated with it (and hasn`t since Paramount did not renew the Outer Limits licensing back in 2001). It will be able to stay Flight of Fear for years to come. And hopefully, Cedar Fair keeps it at KI for years to come. -
Smoothest ride I ever had on The Beast
CoastersRZ replied to coasterking123456's topic in Trip Reports
The "crash" occurred when they were in the process of shutting down the ride due to heavy rain. It resulted due to the heavy rains had slickened the skid brakes and the train couldn`t stop in time. The trains slowly bumped into the other train causing only minor injuries. The next season The Beast opened late as the skid brakes were replaced by fin brakes and magnetic trim brakes. Uh, no. If a part of The Vortex wheel "chipped" off, they would still be able to move it and replace it on the transfer track. Don`t make up stories about which you know nothing about. -

Cedar Point Aerial Shot

But the old way also posed tripping hazards by actually having a "street" with sidewalks. Additionally, there was no shade provided by large trees on I-Street like there is now. -
Well, lets keep in mind that the last two installs at Coney were brand new rides and not used rides (Frog Hopper from S&S and Scream Machine from MoseRides). Most of Coney`s other rides are used rides. In fact, the Tilt-A-Whirl came from the auction at Fantasy Farm (which was next to Americana). I can`t discuss what Coney has in store for next season. In part because they aren`t entirely sure what they are doing themselves (although they have it narrowed down to a few options).

Cedar Point Aerial Shot

The thing that kills me with PKI is that the removed so many tree from the Antique car site. That ride is just not as aesthetically pleasing as what the Antique Cars were. In recent years, Kings Island has been installing concrete midways instead of asphalt. The asphalt tend to absorb the heat from the sun and create a much hotter walking area. While the concrete reflects the sun and create a much brighter midway. Another reason why the park has been going to conrete is related to product life. Concrete, although more exspensive upfront, will last longer and not crack as much as asphalt will. So it will not need to be replaced as often as asphalt. And yes, Cedar Point did remove a lot of trees on the former White Water Landing site, which is not clearly illustrated in that old image. -
Also, back when CSF was known as SOFCO, they were the ones responsible for all the support structure for The Vortex (Arrow made the track), as well as the steel for Eiffel Tower.

Railrider, Cedar Fair hasn`t made any comments on exactly how they are going to run the season pass program next year. There has been no comment as to whether or not they will have a pass that will allow you access to all three of the Cedar Fair parks in Ohio, let alone all the Cedar Fair parks.
-
No, rest assured that Kings Island has some sort of capital expansion coming in 2007. Cedar Fair is going to honor all the capital expenditure plans at all of the Paramount Parks for 2007. The names and themes might be changed from what they were originally intended to be but the actual hardware will be the same. Sometime between now and opening day 2007, the park will tell us what they are doing. Most likely, at least a hint will be given before the end of the 2006 season.
-
I don`t believe they are having an auction. At least not yet. The way I understand it was that some of the rides are for sale (excluding the log flume and Screechin` Eagle among some possible others). I know that at least one other Cincinnati area park made a visit to Americana to look at the rides, but nothing was decided upon.

I highly doubt that any ride will go over 500 feet for a while. Just based on all the technical issues that must be resolved. Furthermore, what is the point of building taller and taller rides? At a certain point the higher you go is trivial because it all seems very high. A difference of ten feet on a hundred foot coaster is a rather noticable difference. But 10 feet on a 300 or even 400 foot coaster is hard to distinguish the difference. Furthermore, a ride 500' would surely cost a lot of money. If the park thinks a ride that tall will bring them money, then they will build it. I have to question though whether a ride like that would bring in the necessary guests and money to justify such a large capital expenditure.
-
With all the problems that Cedar Point has had with Top Thrill Dragster, I have to question whether or not it will break the 500 foot barrier. Seems unlikely. Also, if it is a launch, it certainly won`t be such an extreme launch as found on TTD. As for it being inverted, I think it might be a variation of an invert. Ie. no track below you or above you, but instead off to one side. Only time will tell exactly what it is. A few things are certain though. The site of the ride, and it appears that Intamin is the manufacturer.

I`m certainly glad the site is back. Its ashame that people feel the need to stoop to such a level as hacking into a site to make it look bad and experience downtime. I mean I would imagine that there time would be better spent improving their own site, instead of trying to hack into this one.

Incorrect King Maple, the fishtailing effect was installed on the trains. It can be felt on the trains in the turns right before the banked turn over by Dodgems. It can be felt better the closer you are to the rear of the train. The subway stair effect was never installed. The exit signs, as was mentioned above are in accordance with the Ohio Building Code (OBC). All exit signs from a space must be illuminated with exit signs. And since the tunnel is considered a building, it must have means of egress in the even there is a fire in it.
-
Well, give it a try. You shouldn`t be dissapointed, it is a good fun show.
-
I don`t think anyone other than people at the park know exactly why. They still have the concrete base where it used to reside.

When everyone else is not eating at 5pm? Last time I checked, that is right around the start of the main dinner time. A time when there would be less people would be around 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

Smoothest ride I ever had on The Beast
CoastersRZ replied to coasterking123456's topic in Trip Reports
All the magnetic brakes are in the same exact spots as the original skid trim brakes. Originally, after they redid the braking system, there were no trims on the first drop. but that was short lived. Personally, I think the trim breaks offer a better, more consistent ride. The first car of the train still makes it up to the first "booth" on the second lift hill before the chain catches the train. That is about where it stopped in the days prior to the new brakes. -
Fixed the date in the title of this topic to the 14th.

Yep, its been gone since the start of the season. On a similarly related sign matter, the Coney Mall arch that goes over the midway by Bubba Gump`s has been temporarily removed to allow the safe passage of the parade floats. It will return shortly after the conclusion of the parade on July 9th.
