  1. Just another example of cost cutting measures that are in place at PKI. Measures that negatively impact the guest experience.
  2. Another dead give away that it wasn`t PKD was the fact that they showed footage from a HUSS Giant Frisbee. Naturally, PKI and CP both do not have a S&S Power launched coaster, so that leaves Fugi-Q-Highlands
  3. Another question, along the same lines of ST:TE is what will happen with Paramount Parks` management contract with CBS Television City as well as Bonfante Gardens in California.
  4. Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas. As JZarley mentioned, Paramount Parks has joint ownership of that with the Las Vegas Hilton, where ST:TE resides.
  5. CombatStupendous89, I`ve actually thought of the same thing. Really, Cedar Fair would not be interested in the Paramount themes. But I think they would be foolish to not want to get the rights for Nickelodeon. Nothing against the Peanuts characters, but Nickelodeon is mainstream with most kids these days. And yes, especially at PKI retheming some rides could prove quite expensive and interesting. How to retheme TR:TR to not be themed to TR? IJST, might not need quite as much work as what TR:TR needs but might still require some work. And every rides in the Paramount Action Zone with the exception of Xtreme Skyflyer, Delirium and Son of Beast would recieve a new name: Face Off, Drop Zone, Top Gun, Congo Falls, and Days of Thunder. The only sure way we will find out what happens is by waiting. Eventually, the buyers of the park will be disclosed. And even once that happens, there will still probably be many, many questions remaining. Any changes the new owners make likely will not occur until next year`s operating season, much like what happened when Paramount bought the parks back in July of 1992.
  6. Sorry CoastersNSich! But we both differed on the parks that we think CF would not be buying. And afterall, that is assuming that Cedar Fair would be buying Paramount Parks, and assuming that they are only buying four of the five parks. Both of which are pretty big assumptions at this point in time. Could this be another one of those "Those who know don`t tell and those who tell don`t know" scenarios? I`m sure whoever the buyer is as well as corporate headquarters for Paramount Parks have been mum on potential buyout deals.
  7. Hmm. Four of the five parks? Well, there are valid reasons why Cedar Fair might not want one of the other three. Canada`s Wonderland with its performance in the last couple of years I would imagine would be a shoe in for CF to want them. That leaves PKI and PGA. Cedar Fair already has a park in both states that these parks are in (they have two in Ohio). I would imagine that they would want PKI, since it is the flagship park of the chain. That and the fact that PGA is landlocked and does not own their land (they lease it from the city of Santa Clara) would lead me to believe that PGA would be the park left out. But I still am not convinced that they will be buying the parks. Even to buy four of the five Paramount Parks (especially if they bought Viacom/Paramount licensing to use the Nickelodeon and Paramount themes) would cost quite a lot. I`m not sure how many of you have listened or seen Cedar Fair`s first quarter results, but they are not exactly debt free (somewhere in the tune of $500 million I believe.) They would have to come up with a lot of money to buy some or all of Paramount Parks. Not saying it can`t happen, just that I do not believe that they will be the buyer of the parks. As an aside, during the conference call, Dick Kinzel said any look at potential takeovers of Paramount Parks was ongoing. That said, I feel that Cedar Fair could do some really great things with the park. (And, maybe PKI would finally get that B&M coaster.)
  8. Well, if this turns out to be true (and I still have my doubts) I`m sure we will likely see some changes at the parks. One would have to wonder what would become of FearFest and WinterFest if Cedar Fair bought the parks.
  9. Yeah, talk about three posts. Have you ever heard of the edit button? And I am not a "fool" for owning individual stocks. I feel that Busch could also be the best choice to buy the parks. Whether they are interested in them is another question. I don`t think Universal is looking to acquire any more parks. Wasn`t GE trying to unload Universal itself, so why would they want to acquire five more parks?
  10. Why would CP be storing Intamin track for someone else`s Intamin coaster in 2007??
  11. As Italianchef said, P&G likely has no interest in even considering buying the parks. It simply doesn`t fit their mix of products. Not to mention Wall Street would not like them to buy the parks because of their low growth potential. As a VERY VERY minor stockholder in P&G, I wouldn`t want their stock price to fall more than it already has in recent weeks. (But it would be cool to have stock in the company that owns the park).
  12. Really, they split them up? Interesting. Well it will be interesting to see what happens. When they announce who is buying the park(s) there will still probably be lots of questions. Like how do the new owners plan to change the parks, and whether or not there will be a direct impact on the day to day operations of the parks.
  13. Yeah, a Sunday?? It might vary well be June, but I doubt it is that day. Procter & Gamble is headquartered in Cincinnati and makers of consumer products such as Crest, Ivory soap, Tide detergent, and with their huge purchase of Gillette, Gillette`s brand of razors as well as Duracell batteries. I HIGHLY doubt that they would be buying Paramount Parks, especially with all the money and stocks it cost them to buy Gillette. Plus, I doubt the parks fit into their portfolio of product offerings. Let along the fact that they are still rebuilding and recovering from the Gillette deal.
  14. While the landscaping may not be as on par as it used to be, I would not say that PKI has terrible landscaping. I mean afterall look at how they landscaped around the entrance to Tomb Raider: The Ride.
  15. Reon, I went to Holiday World for my first time last May. I left here around 7:30 am and got to the park around 10:30 EDT which is 9:30 CDT. Yes, if you go in May, you should have no problem doing everything once. I left the park last year around 6:30 and they closed at eight. I had ridden every major ride at least once, and got about four rides in on Thunder Bumpers, Revolution and Liberty Launch. If you have an ACE membership, you can get into the park for $23.95.
  16. Well, for racking up all those rides on The Beast, he seems to not be spotted or at PKI very often these days.
  17. I`ve got broadband too. Don`t know why it didn`t work for me.
  18. Yeah. This was the first time that I have recieved something for another Paramount Park, in all the years I have been on PKI`s email lists. Occasionally, I will get a general Paramount Parks email talking about the upcoming changes at all the parks.
  19. Mine worked but the video quality was terrible, and the sound kept cutting out. It was interesting to see and hear what Ed Dangler had to say. And yes, his comment "And its all made out of wood" was quite funny.
  20. I recieved an email last week from a Paramount Park, and assumed it was about PKI. Until I read it and saw that it was referring to Water Works. Then I checked what Paramount Park it was from, and it was from Paramount`s Kings Dominion. I am not on any PKD mailing list (I am on almost all of the ones at PKI as well as the Paramount Parks research email lists), so I don`t know how I received the email. Apparantly others were really confused about the email and ended up buying their PKI season pass online from Kings Dominion. PKI has said they will honor the passes (obviously). Read more here.
  21. Well, what I`d like to know if in fact they are going to the five car operation, then why did they go ahead and put the sixth car on the transfer track? Or are they just testing out how much smoother the ride is with five cars as opposed to six? Regardless, I have heard that we can expect the ride to open by Memorial day, although I haven`t heard anything official from the park.
  22. Apparantely, from what I just heard from my brother, Fox 19 in Cincinnati will be doing a behind the scenes segment on The Beast at PKI set to air on the Monday morning newscast on Fox 19. Not sure what all they are going to show, or what the purpose of the story is, but just thought I`d give everyone a head up. The story might involve Don Helbig, the person famous for the amount of times he has ridden The Racer. I saw him at the park on Saturday, when a camera man and reporter were in the station for The Beast.
  23. Very interesting. I wonder if they decided the cost to repair the floor was too much to justify keeping the ride.
  24. Why would PKI need another train for Flight of Fear. Don`t they currently have three trains retrofitted with the lap bars (and only two operate at one time)?
  25. Sounds like you had a fun filled day at the park! I`ve been trying to ride the Hanna Barbera film every time I`ve been to the park (six times this year so far) and it was finally open yesterday when I was at the park. You aren`t really missing much with that one, although hearing the Enchanted Voyage music before the movie began was a nice touch.
