Um, Rear Fest? How about FearFest. I know it was probably just a typo. And, yes, lines can be quite long for rides during FearFest. The crowds normally pick up as it gets closer to dark. I still find Maze of Madness disorienting and scary. Even without the scaractors in there, it is confusing and somewhat frightening (at least to me). No, they may not be scary, but they are still fun. I would prefer PKI with FearFest in October than PKI without FearFest in October, even if there are more crowds in the park.

No it was not the same one that Disney used. Essentially, you would get your hand stamped with a color and a time (the color corresponded to which ride I believe). You were only allowed like two Free Way passes a day. I`m not exactly sure how it worked as I did not use it when I went to Cedar Point back in 2004. But I don`t think that they promoted that well. It was a free system and open to anyone in the park, not just season pass holders like at PKI.

Yes, the Backlot Tour is interesting. I got to be a part of the preshow and get a ton of water dumped on me! BackLot Tour The Fantasmic show is a wonderful show with awesome special effects. Man, did that stadium in which the show was held fill up LONG before the show even started!

I have heard that Avatar is supposed to have one of those lines. Not sure if it will. Two rides I find surprising that have not had a Speed Lane line built is Face Off and Flight of Fear. These are two very popular rides, which tend to have slow moving and long lines. If Cedar Fair were to buy the parks, one would have to wonder about the fate of the Speed Lane. Cedar Fair discontinued their Free Way System last year, and they do not intend to bring it back.

Yeah. I went to Disney World back in 2004. Those parks are definantely in a class of their own. The attention to detail on the rides, shows, parades and midways is amazing! You never see any of the maintenance buildings! For that matter, you never even see any of the storage areas for any of the coaster trains or ride vehicles, those are all out of site, and thus out of mind!

I haven`t heard anything. I know at WinterSoar some people expressed some concern over the system. Particularly the fact that the times on the tickets were all spaced like two to three hours apart. So in order to use them for Drop Zone, Delirium, and The Beast, and IJST, you have to spend almost 8 hours at the park, which is the opposite of what most people with season passes want to do. They want to spend a few hours in the park and then leave. But, that is the park`s way to try and get them to stay in the park, and play that game, buy that hamburger and a drink or that souvenir in that shop.

The system is further flawed. At SDatHC, at the point where the lines merge, I have seen numerous occasions where they have no employee there monitoring the line. That is a disaster waiting to happen. Whereas on The Beast, they have an employee in the station controlling the amount of people on the boarding platform, and checking for the speedlane tickets. Remember back in the day when they used to do that at The Beast regularly?

JASPER081691, for starters, Cedar Fair has more parks than Paramount Parks. There is Knott`s Berry Farm, Worlds of Fun, ValleyFair, Dorney Park, Michigan`s Adventure, Cedar Point, and Geauga Lake. Secondly, I doubt that the price increases are a result of a new owner yet. (I also doubt that the price increases mean that Cedar Fair is not the buyer). Most likely, the price increases are a push to raise the current numbers for the parks so that the potential buyers see that the parks have increased their revenues more in the last year to bolster the sale price (when combined with the cuts in the budget). I for one am not a big fan of an increase in some of the prices! PKD is charging $1.99 for refills of the season pass cup!! What happened to the $.99 refills. Even at $.99 the park was still making good money off of each refill.

It was last year that they made some improvements to the parking lot. They added trees, and removed the tram circle up by the front gate. In a few years, when those young saplings are mature trees, the parking lot will be a much nicer place! Yes, they could use a repaving of the parking lot, especially in some areas where it is practically crumbling apart (up by the south exit sticks out in my mind).
-
That is only a $1 increase for the normal parking. I know that the normal parking fee was $9 at the end of last season. Wasn`t preferred parking at WinterFest already $15? I seem to think it was.

Well, not all of them. In the latest eNewsletter they did mention that Gold Pass Holders will get early access this weekend (Saturday and Sunday only) to Nick Universe. Gold Pass holders will be admitted at 9:30 am (via the old season pass entrance) to get some early rides in before the park opens to the public. Other than that, the park has not announced any of the perks yet.

Yes, it most likely does. I`ve worked at Coney the day that one of the state inspectors visited the park. They check everything from the entrance and exit gates to the warning signs for each attraction. They also check all the start up and closing paper work for the rides, in addition to the physical ride. When they do spot checks throughout the season, they also make sure that the ride operators are enforcing all the height restrictions and normal regulations in accordance with Ohio Law. -
Wild Thornberrys and Congo Falls are normally open in October. White Water Canyon is not usually open in the late post season, or even for that matter early preseason.

Well, its not surprising that they were testing it. The State of Ohio has to certify the ride before any one from the public can set foot on it for a ride. -
Yes. He menioned that there would be more "scare zones" similar to CornSTALKERs and that they would try and spread the FearFest fun throughout the entire park. Hopefully, is still recieves a major revamp, but only time will tell if that is still the case.
-
Actually, two rides are closed for most of October. The Scrambler has its cars taken off in preparation for off season maintenance. The park then uses the Scrambler ride area and queue as the line for R.L. Stine`s Fear Street attraction. And the other attraction to not run is White Water Canyon, for obvious reasons.

Well, you know that someone at PKI probably read it.

See, another example of not judging the book by its cover. From the outset NU might not have seemed that great. But until you see it come to fruition, like reading a book, you won`t understand it for what it is. Personally, I think Avatar looks like it could be a fun little ride and can`t wait to try it out. The whole NU area is looking nice with all the new buildings, and paint! And it is nice to see a ride on the approximate location of the old Trabant/ Wheel of Fortune ride that can be seen in the Brady Bunch episode! -
I would imagine that Easter will be the least crowded day of the four that they are open next weekend, based on past history of attendance on Easter day.

What is it with the rumors and every ride sinking?? Magnum, Vortex and now King Cobra? There are structural engineers that design the foundations of all buildings and structures. Before the rides are built, surveying teams visit the site and take boring samples of the groound. They use this information to determine how much bearing capacity the soil has. In some cases the foundation will not simply be footings poured using just concrete. For example, Drop Zone contains 16 H piles that are driven down 90 feet into the ground and rest on the bedrock. These piles are tied together with a 700 cubic yard pile cap. The foundations for Drop Zone, and many other rides and buildings were designed by Stephen Schaefer Associates, Inc. I didn`t think it was that low. I thought it was $12.50. Oh well, I stand corrected.

Yes, but that is the thing. Those people that said that had no relation with the park. (Or if they did, they are simply seasonal associates). Those who knew about the plans all along, including the PR department, were not directly comparing it to Suess Landing. They were saying that it would be an improvement over the current HB and NC. -
And not a bad deal at $9.99 a piece! The lowest they offered them last year was $18. Although they did offer them for $12.50 when I was up there at a private company sellout in September.

But the radio station I heard was only giving away tickets for Friday, not Saturday. I will be up there Saturday morning for the pass holder time in NU, and then will definantely be up there on Sunday!
