Uh, I think Paramount has been in touch with what to install in the park, as far as rides go. I think they have failed to execute the themes that they have selected to make the ride installs remarkable.

The thing I find funny about the 1982 brochure is the logo for Kings Island at the top. Seems like a precursor to the original Paramount logo, only in red instead of blue.

PKIPoodle, one of the trains on the Fairly Odd Coaster is pink, while the second train is green, just like in the Fairly Odd Parent show.
-
It all depends on who is buying the parks, and whether they want to pay for the licensing. I would imagine that they are trying to sell the Paramount Parks division as a whole and not the individual parks.

Phantom Theater, for those who miss it.
CoastersRZ replied to Enchanted Voyager's topic in Kings Island
The reason they are strict with filming on SDatHC as well as the former PT, is due to propriety materials. Scooby Doo is a licensed trademark, which you have to pay the licensing fees to use in film. Also, PT had similar arrangements, with the design firms. I remember back when there was a farewell tour of the PT, that the participants were shown the inner workings of the ride vehicles. But they were forbidden from taking pictures because of the propriety rights that Morgan Manufacturing has over the ride system. -
Well, that website doesn`t have ALL the facts on PKI. Hopefully, with any luck, this site will have an expanded history section soon, with even more facts and tidbits than what that site has.

They tore down that building before the 2003 season, I believe. It was located right next to the age and weight guess game right next to Starbucks.

I don`t believe there is going to be a Skyline in the GWL. I believe that there will be a Pizza Hut Express though.
-
Well, they could not have set it back much farther because the old Columbia Road that is now a maintenance road sits back there. This is the road that you can see when on Top Gun`s lift. And yes, the lodge is quite large and can even be clearly seen (at least in the winter) from the parking lot.

My guess, and it is purely that, is that the parks have either a potential buyer lined up, or a couple of buyers, as cewldre stated. And I agree, that very few people outside the negotiations will know what is going on. That being said, it is unlikely that anyone at PKI from the top to the bottom know any inside information on the sale of the parks. That being said, I would imagine that the CEO of Paramount Parks, as well as the CEO of any potential buying company know about the negotiations. That being said, if the parks are to be bought by a public company, such as Cedar Fair, there would have to be a vote of the shareholders to approve the deal. If that happens, then we will know something before the sale is completed. Otherwise, we likely won`t hear anything until the deal is done, signed sealed and delivered.

Paramount's Carowinds Pricing
CoastersRZ replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wonder if that means the Subway at PKI will be gone? As far as games go, I worked the basketball game in Coney Mall next to the Antique treats and across from the Zephyr last year during Fear Fest as part of the group volunteer program. It was 1 ball for $3, 2 balls for $5 and 5 balls for $10. Thats at least what I think it was, I`m not postive those were the exact numbers, that was back in October. -
New FX Theatre?

Well, I wouldn`t say that NU is a minor investment. Look at the amount of renovation they are doing to the area. Minor investment would be more along the lines of what PGA is getting. They are only getting the Disco ride. We are getting that, plus two other rides and a complete facelift to the children`s area. What is this doing in the other parks section? -
Those are not new. Those were taken by Jennifer when we were being given our tour last Wednesday.

Paramount's Carowinds Pricing
CoastersRZ replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Really, cutting spending and increasing the already high admission and food prices won`t really increase their revenue. There will simply be less demand for the product at the higher prices. Look at Cedar Point, they lowered their gate price, to try and get more people through the gate. On top of that they lowered some food prices to try and get a higher per capita spending of guests in the park. -
Yes, it does take a while. But, look how long they have had the parks on the market with interested buyers. As far as we know, they may have already been sold and are finalizing the terms of the deal. I just have a gut feeling that before the end of the regular season in August, we will have at least a little more information on the ownership of the parks. But it could end up taking longer, who knows!

I was browsing PKI`s website, and came across this page. I don`t think this has been mentioned yet, and I found it under the "Archived Releases" section of PKI`s site. On all four days of opening weekend (April 14th - April 15th) kids can have breakfast from 10am-11am in the Festhaus with their favorite Nickelodeon characters. Breakfast ticket and park admission can be bought for $34.99. Or season pass holders can buy a Breakfast only ticket for $9.99. But, seating is limited! From the pictures on the website, they have obviously done this before, although I don`t recall when they did it. I seem to think it was some sort of Gold pass perk, perhaps?

Paramount's Carowinds Pricing
CoastersRZ replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yikes! Undiscounted admission is $49.99!?? That`s pretty steep. If PKI increases that much, it would be a $5 increase over last year`s gate. Not to mention that Cedar Point DROPPED their admission price to $35.99 for this season in the hopes of lurring more visitors into the park. I have a feeling that this might not be the best year for PKI or Paramount Parks in general, given the apparant price increases, and apparant cuts. -
I would imagine that Paramount Parks settles a lot of cases about injuries on rides, so that they don`t have to have a trial over compensation. I would imagine that they try and keep it as hush hush as possible, so that negative publicity about the park or any of its rides is kept to a minimum to protect its bottom line. And the best way to prevent injuried on rides from occurring in the first place is to enforce the safety rules and regulations.
-
Yes, but I think that might be part of the reason why KI still has its train. Not to mention that its recent uses for both the frightful side and family friendly side of FearFest. And the return of the train ride with liver entertainment and new theming elements for WinterFest.
-
Yes, I think the "interim" thing is just until Paramount Parks, or the new owners finds a person to fill the GM role at PKI. Essentially Tim Fischer is temporary acting GM, not unlike what Andy Kennedy was at UC. But that is a whole other story about UC and its oh so wonderful president...
-
Tim was the GM of PKI from 1998 until Cragi Ross took over in 2002. It will be interesting to see what, if any changes Tim will bring to PKI before the sale is completed.
-
And the reason behind that is a result of the car design on FoF. The existing trains could be modified from the OTSR to the lap bars without major work to the trains, or gettin all new rolling stock altogether. Arrow trains, such as on The Vortex, would require major work, or even new trains altogether, equalling a costly proposition.
-
I didn`t mind Rock `N` Roller Coaster. The theming was nice, expecially with the car design and the launch track area. However, I like FoF`s main ride area better. THe black lit sets that fly by on RnRC just seem a little cheasy. As far as the actual coaster experience, I like FoF slightly more, but as stated above, that is because I can ride it any time at PKI wheras RnRC is all the way down at Disney World.

Yeah. $50 for a two day ticket, whereas two single day tickets will set you back about $88. Definantely a great deal!

Well, first you have to make sure that Pass Processing is open. From what I have heard, they are not going to be opening Pass Processing when the park is not open this year.
