  1. I don`t know. However. I will throw in this. When I started at Coney in 2002, they sold both individual ride tickets as well as a POP ride bracelet. Individual tickets were 50 cents a piece and rides required between 2 and 4 tickets (with pedal boats requiring six tickets per boat). In 2004, they abolished the individual ride tickets and went strictly to a POP wristband. How has that worked? Well, over the 4th of July week last year the record was broken for most POP rides bracelets (post Kings Island- Coney).
  2. Why would they not sell passes? PKI knows that the money to be made is once you are inside the park, which is why they offer passes at such a low cost. Get people in the park to spend money on food, merchandise and games.
  3. Yes. That is likely the case. Although the effect of improving the books for this season is trivial in the grand scheme of the sale. It will be interesting to see what happens with the opening of the park at 10am instead of 9. Also, it will be interesting to see what happens with the gold pass perks such as early ride times. Are those going to be a thing of the past?
  4. Correct. But at the same time, think of all the "free" advertising that CBS and Viacom get through the parks. That might entice them to not jack up the price of the rights too high.
  5. They are fun. But at the same time, they are not a huge capacity mover. I think that one would make a nice fit at PKI, especially on the former site of the Salt Water Circus, behind the Eiffel Tower. I just don`t see PKI adding a mouse anytime soon.
  6. In general, I`d say that whoever buys the parks would most likely also be buying the licensing agreements as well. It just makes sense to be able to use popular trademarks such as Nickelodeon for the children`s areas of the parks.
  7. Yep. I have that poster. Got it when they provided the "pawprint" passholders with ERT on SoB back in July of 2000. They closed the ride to the public at ten, and then kept it open for pawprint pass holders until 11. I rode that thing a ludicrous 9 times in two hours one evening. Talk about bruises on the sides of my thighs!
  8. Well, generally, pass processing is the two weeks before the park opens to the public. Which means that this year it would be the first two weeks in April. Haven`t heard anything official from the park though.
  9. Well, I`d imagine it won`t be long before those parts dissappear from the parking lot, and are moved to their permanent homes in NU.
  10. Well, I wouldn`t be surprised if they were already sold and that they were just finalizing the details. Also, I wouldn`t be surprised if before the end of the operating season in October, if not before the end of August if there is an announcement disclosing the buyer of Paramount Parks. Keep in mind that Paramount Communications announced that they had purchased the park on July 31st, 1992. But how long had that sale been in the works before it went public?
  11. If they are theming out the Paramount theming, they will have a LOT of work at PKI. What to do with all the attractions in the Action Zone or in Nick Universe.
  12. Cheap and slightly run down feel to it? Last time I checked, both IJST and TRTR didn`t have a "run down" feel to them. Sure, some of the effects on both rides don`t work properly, but how does that make those rides seem run down. Granted, it hinders the experience slightly, especially the nonfunctional onboard speakers on IJST, but the attractions certainly do not appear run down to the average park goer. I think that the park know what they are doing with their children area. I don`t think that they want to loose their Golden Ticket award for best Children`s Area any time soon.
  13. Yes. That being said, it would be nice if 2007 was the year that they added something for the big kids. Will that happen? At this point it is anyone`s guess. But based on the recent trend, I`d say that it is not likely.
  14. Umm, what was wrong with IJST? And don`t forget that the same year that the park debuted SDatHC, they also debuted a ride geared towards the thrill seekers in Delirium. Also, as part of the Boomerange Bay expansion they added Tasmanian Typhoon, which is not so much geared toward children perse.
  15. Well, I don`t know if we will see a coaster in 2007 or not, but I think that Coney Mall is in need of a major new attraction. IJST is almost in Rivertown and not in the heart of CM.
  16. First things first. CBS owns Paramount Parks and is looking to find a buyer. Secondly, the park does not "need" a new mega coaster. While a new coaster would be nice, it is not a necessity. I think that a medium sized roller coaster, akin to Top Gun the Jet Coaster at Carowinds would be a nice addition to PKI (it wouldn`t have to be an inverted or even a B&M). The wooded area behind The Vortex and not in view of The Beast? Not sure if you know this, but there is not much room back there. The Beast`s track runs all the way back behind the Action FX Theater (you can see the rear of the theater when there are no leaves on the trees).
  17. Covered the track? Do you mean banked the track? Seriously though, the ride needed major work in order to get it to run consistently. Which is why PKI ultimately decided to remove it. That and the fact that they went for another more reliable ride from Arrow to replace The Bat.
  18. Well, it is ashame that they are not keeping the ride in the park. Coney Island has two Chance rides like Jetson`s Jet Orbiters (a helicopter version and an airplane version. Those two rides are always popular with kids (moreso than the Kiddie Circle Freeway, which is the same type of ride that Huck`s Hot Rods is that is being relocated and renamed in the new Nick universe).
  19. Well, when i went down to Floridia in 2004, I thought that the Disney parks had better theming than Islands of Adventure. Not that Islands of Adventure was bad, its just the Disney parks seemed to have more attention to detail. Granted, PKI is no Disney or Universal. But when compared to other seasonal amusement parks, I think that they perhaps have some of the best themed attractions. Although, they could use some work on theming the areas again.
  20. Well, the Nickelodeon Celebration Parade that has been to all the Paramount Parks, except Canada`s Wonderland (until this year) seems to be very well recieved by park guests. My guess is that this will continue to be improved and added upon this year and in coming years.
  21. Yeah, it seems a little high. Especially since PKI normally claims their season pass pays for itself in less than two visits. Heck, I bought my season pass back in September for $70, which included the gold upgrade and free parking for 2006. An almost $40 increase.
  22. Marlfox_21, the Raven was designed by Dennnise Dinn and the crew at Custom Coasters International, with Denise being the daughter of Charlie Dinn. While Charlie Dinn was responsible for constructing The Beast, as construction manager, he did not design The Beast. That feat goes to the late Al Collins, with assistance from Jeff Gramke.
  23. Well when the park opened Nickelodeon Splat City back in 1995, they also added the Crystal Slime Aerobic Mining Maze. This was similar to the play and crawl structures that are in McDonald`s Play Places and were popular at the time with Leaps & Bounds and Discovery Zones. Remember those? The maze was barely ever opened towards the end, and was eventually removed. For a couple seasons they had some traveling displays in that area. Then they added Nick Central and Reptar in that spot.
  24. The animate window is only for controling the views and the camera movements. Form-Z was developed by architecture students, and thus the point of the softwar was to provide flythrough animations of buildings. It would be nice if you could animate it, but that is not what it was designed for.
  25. Yeah, they tend to spread the upgrades over time, But they don`t have a set schedule that says every x years they have to redo an area. And yes, I believe that the heart of Coney Mall is due for an update. Besides IJST, there has been no major changes to CM, besides FoF in 1996, and that barely impacted the heart of CM. You have to go back to 1986 to see the last major update to CM in the form of the Zeyphr, Dodgems and now defunct Skylab.
