2023 General Kings Island Discussion
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
So I went to Friends and Family preview night and here's some things I'll mention: 1) Adventure Port is looking great so far. It is colored concrete while not pavers it looks better than the regular white concrete the area had before. There are pavers in a circle though where a giant fountain looking planter is in the center of it. 2) The VIP area was moved to the area next to the entrance to Viking Fury where the bar was. My friend and I think that is a temporary spot for now as over by the restrooms across from Enriques where the grass area was, there is currently a building going up where a wooden roof was being installed. My friend and I think that is where the VIP lounge could move to as it would have a nice viewing area of the parade and could be controlled climate which would help for like Winterfest and very hot days. It could just be a new stand though we'll just have to wait and see. 3) Grain and Grill is looking pretty good. Not sure if it is ready to open this weekend though. 4) They got the soundtrack playing in the Orion station again! 5) The most disappointing thing was that they are still playing the jazz from last year on I-street. Not gonna lie, I liked the jazz for the 50th last year, but I was really hoping they were going to go back to the old style classical music that they played pre 2020 as it really works well with the grand first impression of seeing the tower after entering the gate. Also it was great to run into @DonHelbig and chat for a bit. Really looking forward to Coasterstock this year!- 668 replies

Ik Mike did hint at potentially redoing Boo Blasters at Coasterstock last year with better technology. He mainly referenced Toy Story as an idea for what type of dark ride he is looking at. However I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Phantom Theater is what they would want to do theme wise as it would be aknowledging their past and would be very nostalgic to those who today have families and kids of their own to relive those memories. Knott's did something similar back in 2020/21 with Berry Tales.

NEW KI I-STREET WEBCAM NO MORE MYSTIC
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to RedSummit20's topic in Kings Island
That is if they don't turn off the webcam for that lol -
I see they're using the picture from Kings Dominion's and it has the steak on it. Maybe ours is getting the steak after all and they're just not telling us?

In the past, most shows would go on a 2 year run so I'm not surprised to see shows like Off the rails, Phantom Theater Encore, and 70s on Demand.

Yep Adventure Port will have their own crew (Adventure Express, Cargo Loco, and Sol Spin). Tower is getting Viking Ship as it is the closest ride to ship. -

If you're at Backlot Stunt Coaster I believe you also have Shake, Rattle, and Roll (or what we call Troika) unless something changed. -

I'll be working all 3 days at the Eiffel Tower, Grand Carousel, and Viking Fury. You'll really like working here! This is season 4 for me and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. -
Kings Island 2023 Food News and Reviews
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island
So this is like the 3rd thing this has been ever since Diamondback was built. First snake pit, then Tom and Chee, and now Outpost Frozen Cocktails! Speaking of Outpost, maybe Rivertown could someday get an Outpost Cafe like KD? Maybe relocate Linus Launcher somewhere else within Planet Snoopy and use that area for it? -
Or give it a KCL Engineering light package like the one at Fun Spot in Orlando
-
Current wait time for Orion: 5 days, 19 hours, and 30 minutes.
-
That's honestly my thought and why I kept Invertigo. I have the Invertigo/parking lot woods/front gate plot as "part 2" of that expansion.
-
Came up with an idea for an Action Zone retheme based around the Haunted themes of Banshee and Bat. New rides include: S&S scream n swing, Zamperla NebulaZ, WindstarZ, and Air Race. Chicken Shack becomes a new restaurant like KD's Outpost Cafe that serves similar food like prime rib, shrimp, along with hand breaded chicken tenders to make up for the loss of chicken shack. Coaster Connection becomes a bar and the gift shop moves under Banshee's station where the old gift shop was. Ice Scream Zone gets demolished and becomes a Coke freestyle stand. Not listed, but Drop Tower and Invertigo get rethemed to match the area. Ride removals for this are obviously Congo Falls and Xtreme Skyflyer. The area would also feature some interactive stuff and more seating with some sort of sculpture somewhere like Aeronautica Landing got. I didn't include where it would go though.

Adventure Port Construction Updates

Feels like a huge missed opportunity by not doing pavers tbh. I think the area would've looked a lot better with pavers. -
New video recently put out about the new lighting:

Honestly I think both Aunte Anne's and Cinnabon could be on their way out. The park's culinary team could easily create their own copycats of them. Like Aunte Anne's could become a German pretzel stand that serves like pretzel sandwiches and pretzel hot dogs like BGW has. I'm sure also the park could create their own cinnamon roll recipe as a replacement for cinnabon. I also think down the road we see LaRosas in the Festhaus get taken out and replaced with a more German place with flatbread pizza like BGW has in their Festhaus. I also think a Hugo's would be nice in the park especially with a pasta bar where you can build your own pasta.
-
That's opposite of what I grew up with lol. My family hardly ever ate Skyline or LaRosas in the park. It would usually be a special occasion for us to eat in the park period. This was well before the dining plans were a thing. Like we would sometimes pack a lunch and go out to the car and eat or eat before we come or after we leave. LaRosas and Skyline usually we would get outside the park especially skyline on Wednesday nights where my closest one would do kids eat free night lol.

I'm guessing they're going to have that area blocked off for now while they finish construction. -

You know what would make spring even better... doing a food/drink event like Frontier Festival at Cedar Point! Also seems like they'll have live music on the bandstand during the spring part. If I were to guess probably a Hifi Honey/River City rotation. Not knocking them though as they do an excellent job, but there are other local bands that I would love to see get a shot during that time period as well. Maybe do a "Bands in Residence" program like Cedar Point and Carowinds do. Also seems like Fun, Fireworks, and 50 will run for a second season. Not surprising as it was so well done and usually shows tend to run for 2 seasons. -
Also seems like unlike KD, ours won't have the beef sirloin which is honestly kinda disappointing as I was looking forward to having steak at the park. However, the full menu hasn't been released yet so holding out hope that beef sirloin gets added down the line as I've heard the beef sirloin at KD's Grain and Grill is really good.

Even though he didn't provide his source and is the same guy pushing the Zamperla Dragster rumor, Eltororyan did say that from the "industry rumblings" he heard, CF executives after checking out Velocicoaster were very impressed and they want to do multiple Intamin LSM launch coasters. Here's the video he says it in. Towards the end of the video:
-
I would rather we not get a dive coaster or another B&M for that matter next. 3 of the last 4 coasters were B&M so I think it is time to get another manufacturer a shot. A Mack multi launch would be a great fit. However, my main want is an Intamin multi launch like Velocicoaster or Maverick, but that is if CF decides to go with Intamin. I also wouldn't rule out a modern Vekoma launch like Abyssus at Energylandia. In fact that coaster has the same signature batwing element Vortex had and you could place that right in the same spot as the old batwing. Would be a good nod to Vortex.
-
While it would likely be a Mack, I would prefer an Intamin with that. I really enjoyed Velocicoaster and a stall like on Velocicoaster or Pantheon would be unique for the park. Having it go over the pathway would be cool. Do it like Steel Curtain where there is an airtime hill and a stall underneath it.
-
Not saying it is going to happen, but you can fit a surf in if you just tear down the SOB station and use the wooded area along the parking lot and between Bat and Timberwolf. Just a rough drawing I came up with. It also has an MCBR to allow it to run 3 trains.

2023 Offseason Speculation/Work
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Coasterteam's topic in Kings Island
If I remember correctly Racer's repaint wasn't done opening weekend. In fact, I don't think it was completely done until like May and they kept operating Racer and used time the park was closed during the week to finish it.
