Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
Another thing I am thinking. Isn't the LT Governor the one who is addressing this as well as the other reopenings? Maybe it is currently in the works and hasn't gotten to the point where they can start talking about it with the governor yet. Just my thoughts. I very likely might be wrong. -

I'm starting to doubt an announcement will come the following week either just because he made it clear that they have absolutely no plans to open the park right now or even announce a date. -

Yes I did. I can definitely see how it can be considered a mass gathering of people. Especially after the fiasco that happened in October where they reached capacity. But even after that, I have a feeling Cedar Point will reopen before concerts are held. I think CF is going to try and present to him a plan at some point. -

I'm starting to think we are looking at July now with what was said. -

It was actually the LT Governor who announced them. He did say that they only have a handful of stuff left to reopen. That's a pretty good sign if you ask me. I think we will get an announcement on amusement parks in the next couple weeks. I think they would just cancel the season if they were knew they would likely stay closed that long. CF said they want to reopen when there is a manageable number of days left in the season. That likely means imo if they can't open mid July, they won't open at all. -

Yes, he has called sporting events, fairs, and concerts mass gatherings before which they are, but I don't remember him saying amusement parks directly were mass gatherings. Can you provide a source and/or quote of him saying that amusement parks are mass gatherings? -

Where has DeWine said they are mass gatherings? Mass gatherings are their own thing while amusement parks are in the travel and tourism advisory groups. -

Not surprised. That's a "mass gathering" or "large event" which we all know won't happen in Ohio for a while. Amusement parks aren't included in those since they can take precautions. -

Ohio just lifted the stay at home order and made it a strong recommendation. However, there are still restrictions in place. Like still the mass gathering limit is 10. However, travel isn't banned anymore. The LT governor also said he is hoping to address some things on Thursday. Not trying to get my hopes up, but Thursday could be the announcement we are waiting for. -

Found this article. Sounds like Disney is aware of the difficulty of having a mask policy here in America. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.deseret.com/platform/amp/entertainment/2020/5/18/21260144/disneyland-news-disney-ceo-bob-chapek-masks -

I created this thread back in like January/February when we weren't thinking much about how COVID-19 could affect the season and theme park industry. It started with amusement Insiders posting a video on the topic and I thought it was interesting so I decided to make a thread to discuss the topic. Now we are far into the pandemic and basically this thread turned into a COVID-19 thread which I think is an ok thing. If I could change the thread name, I would change it to "COVID-19 Discussion thread" or something along those lines. -

I would rather wait 5+ years for a new original layout than get a clone of another coaster tbh. -
Wait they are still building that outdoor resort they talked about there? I haven't heard anything on it and I didn't even know they actually started construction. And I live just 5 minutes from there.

OVC just did an Instagram live video of them walking on the bike trail watching Orion test with Coaster studios and others. It seems to be going through multiple cycles quickly. That's a good sign imo.

Here's a video from Amusement Insiders on the survey he got from Canada's Wonderland. Looks very similar to what the other CF parks did. -

I saw a post on Facebook that Cedar Fair is sending out surveys to passholders. Has anyone here gotten one? If so, what was asked and what stuck out to you the most? -
I don't think those will get filled up until they get the green light to start getting ready.

He said they aren't forgotten and they are currently working on that. They are a part of Travel and Tourism. That probably means in the next couple weeks we'll see something announced about that. -

Amusement Parks and Waterparks were not included in today's press conference. However, the LT Governor did say they are working on that and they are apart of the travel and tourism group. No date set on when that will be addressed.
