The reason i hate them is because you can't sit by the fountain on I Street at night without randomly being startled by them. They take away of the best places in the park to sit and chill, just for a random decoration that people walk by and notice for a few seconds.

Move One Ride from Anywhere in the Country to KI
super7 replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Coming Attractions
Dominator/Knight Flight has one of the best layouts for a looping coaster. It is well paced. There are no back-to-back inversions except the 2 in the cobra roll (which is required for a cobra roll). There is a element between every inversion other than that. The ride however has gotten super vibrate-y over the last couple of years. KD needs to do a refurbishment on it. -
This is the right direction to go. While the gore and death images all over is a turn on for a certain market, the more moderate Halloween decorations throughout the park (with contained scare attractions in the future) will attract everyone to the park. I think Cedar Fair is realizing that the trill market is limited (they are regurgitating the same customers) and they are drawing in new customers with family events (Carnivale, Winterfest). Hopefully it is the end of the flame throwers in the fountains forever.

DDN: 334-site outdoor resort, RV camping planned near Kings Island
super7 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Is this why they have cut down all the trees behind McDonalds? I would think a resort would be full of trees, not barren. -
I agree. If people want to be scared, there are plenty of scare attractions. They are chasing off customers if people cannot walk around the park without being attacked.

Knott's Calico Mine Ride. The mountain would look fantastic where back lot coaster sits. -
A ferris wheel is a great family ride that everyone can enjoy except those afraid of heights. KI needs more total family rides. Right now they only have the antique cars, the helicopters, the cheaply made Boo Blasters, the train and the carrousel. However, that large ferris wheel at Cedar Point is virtually worthless. It has a HUGE capacity, but normally they only use about 1/4 of the gondolas due to balancing. No single riders either. The whole ride is stop/start over and over again. Other that the view, it's a piece of crap. King's Island had one of the best ferris wheels of all time, the Zodiac. 1/2 the gondolas loaded at one time while the other half took their loong ride. It was super efficient, very high capacity and didn't have the balancing issues as the hunk of junk at Cedar Point. It had great views, and you could see it from I Street as you entered the park. It's such a shame those 2 and 3 arm ferris wheels like the Zodiac are now extinct. They were amazing and were machines of the future. It's a shame ferris wheels have reverted back to their old, slow loading, stop and go models. The area where Saltwater Circus sat would be a great location for something.

There’s a show called The Shrieks coming. Not sure what it is exactly but maybe a replacement for Monster Rock?
-
I always thought a mouse would have been a good replacement for the Barvarian Beetle. That spot would have worked great since the space in Oktoberfest is limited, behind the current trees of course.

Both Kings Dominion and Carowinds Completely replaced their arbor tunnels at one point. New structures and vines. Carowinds actually modified theirs again last year to raise it to allow for parade floats to go through The ones that go to Whitewater Canyon are subpar compared to the original one. The original one was wide enough that It has seating. If for some reason the vines have not covered them very well despite how long they have been there The ones that go to Whitewater Canyon or pitiful compared to the original one. If for some reason the vines have not covered them very well despite how long they have been there The removal of this is another example of Paramount/KECO damage to the original park But Kings Island got to keep the train, and the others didn’t So that’s the better choice if one had to pick between the two

Long tunnels underground or built on low parts add to a ride. Short tunnels don’t do much. Tunnels built on high parts don’t do much either. The Beast is a great example. The first tunnel really doesn’t add to the ride other than increasing the drop height. The long second tunnel is one of the best parts on any roller coaster. The tunnels on the helix definitely add to the ride. Mystic Timbers tunnel is worthless. Was it built as some kind of sound barrier? I don’t think the tunnel on Orion would’ve added much to the ride other than increase drop height because the train would travel through it so fast.

The money they have for next year is a line of credit. Cash runs out in December 2020 with current cash flow and expenditures. It’s in their conference call notes. they have also given away a full year of season pass and add on revenue. Their cash situation is not going to be good for a while even after they start operating normally. It would be an absolutely unwise business decision to add another major ride before they can fully market Orion to the public under normal circumstances. The park is currently operating in less than half crowds. Measuring by the cars in the lot. It’s questionable if current crowds are even turning a profit given the season pass extension.

Cedar Fair is in a cash situation. Most of their parks are closed and they need their current cash just to make the company survive through the end of the year. After the end of the year they are going to pull on the line of credit. I highly doubt if they do any major investment for several years. This is most likely necessary infrastructure if anything Most of their parks are closed and they need their current cash just to make the company survive through the end of the year. Oktoberfest definitely needs polka style music instead of being on the Coney soundtrack

The lights in the helix have been on all day long on my visits. The lights in the helix have been on all day long on my visits They are up lighting all of Orion, which looks great......for Orion. However (for any one that wrote The Beast at night last weekend) Does this now light up the area at the covered brake run on The Beast? Orion was built too close to The Beast there. There’s many things that have been done right in the park over the last several years, It’s a little disappointing how the isolation of The Beast keeps disappearing little by little. It’s a disappointing how the isolation of The Beast keeps disappearing little by little with almost annual tree removal and now lighting.

It’s not the songs themselves that i necessary like. Several of the songs one really has to listen closely to identify exactly what it is. What I like about this soundtrack is It is 100% instrumental and definitely upbeat The symphony style of music, plus it is layered music that builds up as it plays It is extended versions of the songs, no just short snippets There are a lot of songs on the loop It’s a while until it repeats

As long as people still buy season passes to the ride park, having a separate water park gate still generates more revenue. It doesn’t matter if people don’t go to the waterpark and still buy season passes for the regular park. That actually just means less use of the water park and less cost.
-
I’m very sad about Winterfesr. I was hoping that maybe it would be a lights only event with a few rides. But the fact that they gave away a years worth of revenue with season passes doesn’t make this event worthwhile Also the fact that they could not do any of their up charge attractions like the ice-skating or cookie decorating, further reducing the revenue from the event. For those that complained about the up charges, they helped make the event financially viable. Cedar Fair absolutely cannot lose money on an operating basis at this time. They have enough cash to last until the end of the year and then the line of credit to last until the end of 2021. So overall I would rather see Cedar Fair survive That have the parks operate and lose money. It will be very nice to go to the park in the fall when it’s cooler. It will make wearing a mask much more bearable. It will be nice to enjoy the park in the fall without all the gory decorations

Rebranding it to generic Soak City was idiotic. It was reasonably themed (at least the names) as Boomerang Bay. This was previous Cedar Fair mgmt that didn’t care about theming and wanted uniformity across parks. The water park should have been a separate gate. . They missed a lot of revenue including it all admissions. A small upcharge would have not turned anyone away that likes the waterpArk (Something like $5 on a daily ticket Amy and $25 on a season pass). The precedent was set by previous ownership and its hard to charge for something once it’s included.

It’s short but great. The vocals are great and all of it is choreographed. It’s well put together for a short show.

With closer inspection, I don’t think the bell is coming back soon. They planted A small tree under the arch.
-
It’s a great ride but short. Wait times today were 20 mins around noon then 5 mins at 2:30ish. The ride is about sideways hills. Which are great. Amazing view of nothing but trees ahead at the top of the lift hill. The helix is a little tight and causes some graying. I prefer the long swooping helix on Fury. Crew is top notch. Little or no stacking with 3 trains running. The first train I rode never stopped and was out of the station just after the previous train crested the lift hill.

Sometimes it disappears during the season. Probably hanging in the air requires special care At times. It’s been very dry this year.
-
The soundtrack is spectacular this year. While I’m not a fan of the pop music in country style, the pop music in instrumental symphony style on I-Street is fantastic. It’s powerful and goes well with the fountain.

It looks amazing. The park is well landscaped this year. Full flowers in the normal areas. Plus the addition of this. The calendar looks great. The clock also looks great despite its inability to keep time lol. The liberty bell is missing today. Has it been there this year? The mini Eiffel Tower is there.
