I love B&M. Why would you not want anything else from them?
To be fair their rides feel very similar to each other (especially modern B&M’s). I’m hoping for a launch Wing coaster & eventually a Dive coaster in Invertigo & Congo falls location.

Probably not, I don’t see the removal of one of the parks most iconic rides to be a spur of the moment decision. Also note that several other parks use that imagine for their passes.

Sorry for the double post....
...but, upon examination of the image below, Vortex doesn't seem to take a whole lot of land. Using an area calculator, Vortex sits on approx. 4.11 acres. That's a bit compact for a coaster layout. If Kings Island was to add a new roller coaster, I doubt it would be invading Beast territory and probably sit on the same amount of land with a compact design.
Orion gets pretty close too The Beast, doubt they really care at this point about that.

I don't believe that an enthusiast message board is even slightly representative of how beloved a ride is. I believe that it's ridership numbers are and (while they were probably decent given it's capacity) they likely weren't where the park wanted them either or they would probably be willing to invest some money into it.
The blog post said the ride was still popular, ridership is not this rides issue.

Do they open up the international street area (like they did during the Summer) before official park open or do they open the gates at 6?

Kentucky Kingdom is trash compared to Kings Island. The fact that they even chimed in is comical.
No need too bash an entire park for poking fun at their competitor.

Don’t forget there are two other Arrow coasters in the park. If Vortex (1987) has reached the end of its cycle.... Adventure Express (1991) and The Bat (Top Gun - 1993) are only a few years older. What if....
Yesterday I would have said it’s not happening because there’s older ones out there but… Canada’s wonderland maintenance team said they were committed to supporting Vortex and that they do welding during the off season (might be recalling this wrong), hopefully our last 2 Arrows have some life left in them.

Something to keep in mind:
Thunder Road was removed in 2015 and Copperhead Strike didn't open until 2019.
Skyrider closed in 2014 and Yukon Striker didn't open until 2019.
I do hope that something fills The Vortex plot of land sooner rather than later, but I wouldn't get your hopes up since we are getting Orion next year. Also, some people on other forum sites brought up the idea of something like Forbidden Frontier at Cedar Point.
You can’t have people walking down such a large valley like that for a Forbidden Frontier type attraction. I expect us to get a new coaster in 2023 depending on how well this new one performs.

What ever they build I hope they plant trees (Which I doubt they will), with the eyesore that is backlot I hope what ever new ride they build looks nice. Coney mall needs some love.

It was the first ride I ever went up side down, I still remember when I thought it only went upside down only 2-4 times and freaking out when the ride op mentioned it went up side down 6 times. After my first ride I fell in love with it and rode it several times. This season my love of Vortex was rekindled. I enjoyed riding it 50 times during one afternoon this season. I’ll definitely appreciate the many memories I’ve had on this ride.

Incorrect, wicked twister opened in 2002 at Cedar Point and exactly one year later top thrill dragster opened.
How’s that incorrect? I said in years and 18 years ago seems significant. This was during the coaster wars & Cedar Point is the flagship park.

Just look at all the replies on Twitter and Reddit. Most people aren't surprised and say that it's rough. Not enjoyable.
Trust me, I'm upset as much as everyone else on this forum, but this has been coming for a while now. I'm more mad about the fact that there's going to be a giant section of the park left empty. Maybe they put a new restaurant or flat in that space for the time being?
I also see a bunch of replies saying how upset they are with this decision, people still like the ride. Just look on this forum, there’s plenty of Vortex fans out there. This ride was liked by many.

Is it possible to add another expensive coaster this quick?
No it’s not likely they will not do this. Best we can hope for is that we remain on a 3 year coaster cycle (which depends on how well this new coaster performs). No CedarFair Park has gotten back to back coasters in years.

Can't say I'm surprised. Vortex has a pretty bad reputation, and the only time I went to KI the ride was closed on and off all day. That's not okay.
Hopefully they don't leave it SBNO.
I strongly disagree, it was a popular ride. Yes a large amount of people find it to be rough but a lot of people still enjoy the ride.

I’m just so confused, it’s not a maintenance nightmare and they just removed a major coaster last season. The future is not looking very bright to say the least if they keep this trend up. I get some people don’t like Vortex but it was a popular, easy to run reliable ride. I don’t know why they’ve done what they done but I’m incredibly disappointed in their decision.

Here’s my 2 cents.
1 - I don’t see Invertigo going this season, perhaps maybe in the near future. It just got the stinger trains and most likely a lot of other parts out of stinger. I get people don’t like the ride but it takes up a small footprint and likely doesn’t have a high cost to staff. Will it still be here in 10-15? Probably not, but I just don’t see it leaving this season
2- I don’t understand why Vortex would be removed any time soon. The ride still has very high ridership but more importantly is the fact that it’s a work horse. There are Arrow loopers far older than Vortex that are still operating and in my opinion Vortex is the best traditional arrow looper. There’s parts still available for it so I’d assume doesn’t have a high maintenance cost. If any Arrow at Kings Island is going to be removed I’d put my money on The Bat.
This aged like fine wine...

You should consider yourself lucky that Toyota doesn't want to have the park until 10 PM. These buy outs make the park an insane amount of money and they've been going on since well before Cedar Fair.
I guess, just disappointing that after 2 weekends of buyouts they choose to once again have a buyout on the first Saturday of the event.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned or not here but from the ACE event at Canada’s wonderland it was mentioned that employees from Kings Island reached out to Canada’s Wonderland about the bin system, seems like we might end up seeing it on Orion
“With the success of the bin system, has any other park reached out to you for information?
Kings Island is building that new coaster for next year and you will likely see a similar system on that ride. My counterpart down there has contacted me a few times about it for details. I think it makes sense.”

Is Orion at a lower elevation than the rest of the park? Comparing it to WindSeeker in the renderings, it looks closer to 276’ than 286’.
I don’t think it’s at a lower elevation (Maybe a little bit) but I did notice what you’re talking about. It’s only a 10 ft difference so it will likely appear almost eye level with WindSeeker considering how far away the two rides will be.

are the fright lane passes worth the money?
On the night I went last year a lot of the mazes had a 1-2 hour long wait so it definitely made me feel like the Fright lane was worth it. Usually the most you wait with Fright lane is 5 minutes. One important thing to keep in mind is that you can only use the Fright lane once for every maze, additionally you get one extra maze you can go to twice.

Copperhead Strike was definitely added with families in mind though. But, I get what you are saying.
With a 52’ height requirement I personally disagree with it being a family coaster. It’s a launch rollercoaster with several inversions. In my mind a family coaster is a coaster with a 42’ height requirement or below that is thrilling enough to be enjoyed by the whole family and isn’t too intimidating. For example The Bat, Adventure Express, Racer & Backlot (Even though it is a tad bit intense)

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
in Kings Island
Posted
Doesn’t really matter if Vekoma is still in business if they don’t support the rides… Invertigo’s sister ride Stinger has already been removed. If you remove Congo falls & Invertigo you’ll start to open up a decent amount of land. I see Invertigo going before The Bat.
