Nothing better then watching a Banshee POV and scrolling through the comments to see a certain individual post at least 10 comments on why Banshee is the worst rollercoaster ever built and why it should have been an RMC.

Thanks for making my day @IndyGuy4KI there’s just so much to look forward too this season!

I don’t know if this is an element per say but I’d really hope for there to be some Terrain interaction.

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this question but the all season Fast Lane plus does also work during haunt right? (I’m not talking about fright lane). I was just curious since regular season passes end during haunt.

@Ben43065 Actually, by population, Cleveland MSA has the highest population, followed by Cincinnati MSA, with Columbus MSA as third. Cincinnati is actually the largest population wise, but since you specifically said Ohio, its second, since we are leaving out Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana.
According to this article Columbus recently passed Cleveland. You’re counting the Cleveland’s statistical area then it’s bigger but by metropolitan area Columbus appears to be bigger.

KI isn’t that close to any park. I highly doubt CP cares about that.
I think the reason it won’t be a dive or wing is because it’s easier to market a type of rollercoaster they haven’t recently built compared to marking 2 dive coasters within 4 years. Compared to Mill force which was built 19 years, a giga would be easier to market since it hasn’t been recently built. Ohio’s largest metropolitan area (Columbus) is a shared market and it needs to be taken into account when marketing the new attraction. It’s easier to market a coaster type that hasn’t been built in a while compared to 2 rollercoasters of the same model.

The ride it’s self is themed to a run away ski lift while the Alp folklore creature is completely different and has nothing to do with with the Alp mountains to which Alpengeist is clearly themed to. I don’t know why we really need to debate wether or not the name is ok when it was just a thought I had.

With Alpengeist already being a coaster, I'll put the chances of Alp being used at close to 0
Alp is actually a German folklore creature, not at all related to the alp mountains.

I don’t really have any names to fit with the X-Base theme but I do have a few ideas of folklore names they could maybe use.
- Wendigo
- Alp
- Basilisks
- Jinn
-
- Night ride on most of the major rollercoasters
- Go to the water park for once and ride the drop slides
- Do one of the paid attractions
That’s about it, not as creative as you, I can’t wait for this season to kick off!

Banshee and Diamondback had footings in the ground and the later had the splash pool ready to pour.
There were footings on opening day? Didn’t know that, I’m definitely having a lot of anticipation for preview night.

I have some cool stories to tell from the two seasons I have worked so far (2017 and 2018), but I'm not a former employee (still working this year). Is this thread just for former employees to tell their stories, or can current employees participate too?
As long as it doesn’t violate any contracts you signed with the park then it should be fine, someone earlier in the thread still works for KI currently posted a comment. The more the better imo!

Nope. It was for a few safety issues:
1. Accidentally let a guest who was too short ride Beastie. This was back before they had the height check station in the kids' area (only at the front of the park or at Guest Services) and the same year that the minimum height on Beastie had changed to 40 inches from 36 inches. On top of all that, we were short handed so we didn't have anyone to work greeter, which left height check responsibilities mainly to whoever was working load side in the station. For safety reasons, you couldn't let the incoming train pass you either, so it was kind of hectic.
2. Let 4 people (dad and three kids) ride in a helicopter on what was then Yogi's Skytours (now Woodstock Whirlybirds)
3. Accidentally left an exit gate unlatched (it was closed, just not latched) at the umbrella ride (now Peanuts Offroad Rally, though it was in a different location at the time)
At least they really take safety really seriously. I’d assume there as strict now a days?

At least test seats are more common now a days to prevent that from happening.

I currently work in landscape at the park, been there a year now. My favorite weekly ritual with another good coworker is to mow the tower legs every Friday. It usually takes us around 1.5-2 hours to mow, weed eat and blow clippings. But the satisfaction I get from putting in the nice straight burnt in lines, making the tower legs look pretty is definitely something I am proud of. It’s something I enjoy while working and also as a guest in the park.
Definitely seems like a satisfying job! Thanks for keeping the park beautiful.

The most absurd thing I ever heard, and I kid you not, was a guy who complained that there "were not enough Asians working at Panda Express". It felt like I had to gather my thoughts for an hour in my mind before I knew how to respond.
If you don’t mind sharing what was your response to that question?

I like how you conveniently leave off the record that Banshee actually did break, longest track on an inverted coaster.
https://www.visitkingsisland.com/play/rides/Banshee
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/local/2014/04/17/Banshee-debuts-at-kings-island/7832837/
Secondly giga records are not hard to beat for B&M specifically (small sample size) each giga they have manufactured has been more impressive than the last one at the very least in pure stats alone.
Leviathan(12) Fury 325(15)
Height: 306ft 325ft
Drop: 306ft 320ft
Length: 1,672 6,602
Speed: 92mph 95mps
On to your next point it would only have to be 326ft to be the tallest chain lift giga in the world, we all know that Red Force is a launched coaster that doesn't fit the mold of the worlds other gigas. I know this is all speculation on everyone's part but I see our eventual giga as a record breaking destination coaster.
I mean marketing is going to be able to make up dozens of records like they always do but at the end of day do people really care about some of the “records”. In terms of the big 3 records out there (Height, Speed & length) I doubt it’ll break any of those, I’m sure there’s going to be records it’ll break (I already mentioned it’d probably break the North American records) but who really cares about a lot of these records? You can spin almost any coaster to break some records, you could theoretically say Banshee broke the records for “First invert with vest restraints, Only B&M invert with no pre-drop”. Records for the most part are just for marketing.

Do you honestly believe that when we eventually get a giga it won’t be bigger and better than the last giga b&m designed and manufactured? Fury 325 came out 4 years ago b&m is more than capable (and cf/ki has the money) to make something awesome. I mean honestly why would they take a step back??
Because they don’t always break records? Banshee for example wasn’t the fastest or tallest invert when it opened. And plus giga records are somewhat hard to beat. To be the tallest giga it’d have to be 368 ft and to be the longest giga coaster it’d need to be the longest coaster in the world. I wouldn’t be surprised if it broke the US giga height record.

I think you have that backwards. When Universal or Disney build rides, including coasters, the price tags can be in the $100+ million range. The theming, rockwork, and extras are what drive the cost up. Now if you are just considering a truck in the queue or having the station designed to look like an old building as the theming, then sure, that can be done cheaply. But if you want a well themed ride, the price can climb significantly.
I’m talking about the level of theming for copperhead strike and Mystic Timbers, I’m not at all imply Disney level theming.
Also I thought my season long Fast Lane was $500 each but the website says it’s now $550, maybe the prices increased?

Since Cedar Fair is picking up their theming, and theming is pretty expensive. CS is amazingly themed. Do you think KI's giga might have amazing theming but would have to sacrifice being a longer coaster than Fury 325? If that happened, would you be fine with that?
The way I see it is that if you’re investing 30-40 million dollars in a ride you might as well add theming. It’s not incredibly expensive when compared to the cost of the ride. I’d rather see theming even if it meant the ride was shorter.

Things like this matter in park quality. Without a doubt, current mgmt is sending the Taft parks back to the top after they bottomed out during the Paramount years.
Kind of funny you say that considering Paramount maintained the clocks but I get your point. Although I do wonder if it’s the new CEO or the relatively new GM who is mostly responsible for these recent renovations.

I purposely make purchases in the park when I visit...whether small or big.
I like to think my purchases go toward the next Capital project, whether or not it does.Maybe I should have told my self that when I added Fast Lane to my platinum passes.
