CF could double FL prices and I think they would still sell the numbers they do now.  It becomes an even bigger status symbol at that point and many in society will pay for that exclusivity.  Basic human nature and supply and demand.  It's the same across all aspects of our life, from the range of vehicle prices to 1-star to 5-star hotels and restaurants and everything in between.  It's a status symbol.

I very much doubt this. If Cedar Fair could double one of their biggest sources of income and still in pull in the same numbers they already would have. While yes when you increase the price of certain luxury products demand will increase there comes a point where demand decreases so much that they actually lose overall revenue rather then increase revenue. The logic that more people will want it because it’s exclusive doesn’t make any sense in this case. What person that currently doesn’t buy Fastlane would want to buy Fastlane because it’s now more expensive? Probably no one. Disney has a totally different target market then Cedar Fair parks, the people coming to Cedar Fair parks won’t tolerate a significant price increase like what Disney has done. Does Fastlane need to be tweaked, probably yeah. But as I’ve mentioned there’s really no incentive for tweaking Fastlane.

It's already $850 for all season platinum.

Yeah and nearly doubling that price makes it significantly harder for some people to justify getting it. All season platinum already likely makes up an extremely small % of total Fastlane users. Cedar Point last year clearly realized that season passholders wouldn’t even pay $850 for all season Fastlane which is why they lowered the price. I doubt many people would visit enough Cedar Fair parks to justify spending $1000-1500 on it. As per home park specific all season Fastlane ad mentioned $750 likely is the max people would be willing to spend for parks such as KI,CP,Knotts & CW.

I believe they sell too many. The numbers in 2019 at CP and Wonderland were insane. I would move to make it more exclusive and sell far fewer. 1k-1500 for all season platinum, $200 for busy days at the major parks in the chain. I don't see that happening, however.

I doubt they’d sell that many all season passes for $1000-1500. I’m sure CedarFair has a lot of data when it comes to pricing Fastlane and consumers are willing to pay for it. There’s really no incentive for them to sell less Fastlane or raise the prices as it seems park guests are okay with the current system in place.

I legit didn't know Chic-fil-a wasn't on the mealplan at KI (have the mealplan just never tried to get it) bummer. That's like my favorite place to use the meal plan at CP.

Kings Island website states Chic Fil a is on the dinning plan (Nuggets or Sandwich)

  5. It seems like it’d be an odd use of funds to remove Timberwolf this season as I don’t really foresee a new thrill ride or attraction coming to Action Zone. Perhaps those trees were infected with something? I believe trees near The Bat were removed a few seasons ago.

  6. Sad to see them not requiring mask outdoors, or at least on the rides and queues. Considering Ohios so far has a low vaccination uptake compared to other states, such as California I probably won't visit the park until July or until cases go down significantly from the present daily average.

Was there anyone previously in this role?  Or are they both new roles?  I know that Tim Fisher is COO of Cedar Fair.

This is what I’ve also been wondering. I’ve looked but I’ve founded no previous mentioned of SVP of operations @ CedarFair so I’m assuming it’s a new role. I’m assuming the regional VP role still exists (Which was filled by Bob white for the parks KI, KD & CP) but I guess it’s also possible that role has been phased out and replaced with this new posistion?

I'm surprised Cedar Fair takes apple pay when places like kroger, Walmart, and Sam club does not.

I use Samsung pay which is accepted everywhere I have tried.

Was at kroger the other day and the clerk said we don't do apple pay.  I put my phone against the terminal and it completed the transaction.  The clerk was shocked.

The main reason places like Kroger don't take Apple Pay is because they rely on tracking their customers purchases so they can offer them targeted promotions. Kings Island doesn't rely on that. I think going cashless probably won't be a big deal so long they clearly mention that at the entrance of the park.

I have a feeling the name "Vortex" might be used again

Personally I don't see that happening. Naming a new coaster after an old, demolished coaster may cause confusion among guest. Also renaming a new coaster Vortex would also make it harder to market the new ride.

I'd be very upset if they got rid of Drop Tower. It's imo the best out of the 5 Drop Towers I've been on. I've been on this, Lex Luthor Drop of Doom, Power Tower, Liberty Launch, and one of those mini Drop Towers at a traveling carnival. Plus it is one of the few Gyro Drops in the US.

Agreed, the last thing Kings Island needs is to have 1 less high thrill flat ride. Every major amusement park needs a Drop Tower.

Wear your mask, stay distanced, and enjoy the outdoors at Kings Island.

The problem is when you have so many people in the park it becomes harder to stay socially distance. If everyone wore their mask then Id agree with you more but from my personal experience at the park there is still a sizable group of people who don't wear their mask or don't wear it properly. If you just watch this video you can see how crowded its gotten at Cedar Point,

  12. I think at this point both Kings Island & Cedar Point should probably limit their capacity even more. Considering how bad the midwest is getting hit right now it seems a little irresponsible to be letting such large crowds in. The measures they have in place are good however they don't seem as effective when you have so many people inside the park.

I believe we are yet to see the damage shutting our country down.  Many small businesses are done, and will not be able to recover.  Many people have lost jobs and may not find new ones soon.  Unemployment went higher than it has ever been and now those are not getting the extra $2400 a month and may now be struggling.  Progress has been made on the effectiveness of the treatment of the virus and we are seeing most recover fairly quickly.  Do we need to go backwards?  IMO, Absolutely not!

We are in for a huge upsurge in other issues soon.  We have not let our immune system work, so be prepared for many things to come.  With a nearly 100% survival rate for those that are not already compromised, there is no reason to go backwards.  I will not live in fear!

I don’t want to get into the politics of it but reopening to soon has caused more economic damage then if we had just waited the extra 2 weeks or so in the initial lockdown. People come first, the economy comes 2nd. The government has the resources to support people who lose their job due to a lockdown.

I get that non smokers don't want to inhale it. However, its OUTSIDE and they could have at least a small area on all corners of the park. I went yesterday and had no idea they banned it all together. I actually won't be going back to the park because personally, whether I smoke or not, I won't support any place that takes away ones rights. As long as people are being considerate, there should be places to accommodate ALL guests, period.

What about the park's right to have their own rules for the safety of other guests....? We're in the middle of a global pandemic, the park had to take extra measures for the safety of guests and this was one of them.
