It already was the entrance to a roller coaster right next to The Bat and through its exit. I don't think the park is very concerned about it.

It was Paramount who did that... Cedar Fair might want to go a different direction.

Off topic but has anyone else got shot up the nose from Diamondback water in the back during the splashdown, pleasant experience today. At least it was open all day lol

I have never had that happened to me, but hey, at least it was a pleasant experience! LOL!

I think Mystic Timbers shows they will since it certainly didn't have to be crammed on top of White Water Canyon.

But when you have three rollercoasters side by side by side, there will be way too many people in that area of the park. The entrance to a new coaster would have to be directly beside The Bat’s entrance which would lead to confusion. It is different having a wooden roller coaster and water ride next to each other (or on top of one another).

True, but they also have the old SOB land they could use.

They could access the Son of Beast land by removing Adventure Express. It would be hard to fit the entrance and beginning to the rolle coaster in between The Bat and Banshee. They could definitely do this, but I don’t see them cramming in things when they don’t have to.

  4. Knowing the park, they will definitely have a surprise in store for us. We thought we knew everything there was to know when Mystic Timber’s layout leaked, but speculation about what was in the shed lasted until opening day.

Has this always been here, on YouTube there was an update and the guy walked up to the fence and I saw this, it looks like a runway , runway= jet = Quonset huts in queue line = project x

I think it has been there for a while now. When Firehawk opened, they had all of these white lines painted on the concrete, and maybe those marks you are seeing are the remnants after the paint was removed. I’ll try to find a picture, but good question!

  6. The whole point of this thread was to decode and figure out what the park was getting in 2020. Yeah, we may have figured it out faster than some people would have liked, but I think the mission was accomplished! I think it is cool how so many people were so dedicated and spent quality time going out to get blueprints, making concepts, and taking pictures of track for us to enjoy. Heck, we even had a couple of people with so much passion that they went out and flew planes to get pictures for us. Are people sad that most of it is over now... yeah, but it was fun while it lasted. I, for one do not feel the slightest bit of disappointment, and I enjoyed every minute of the past few months worth of decoding. I think the problem is that people enjoyed decoding this project so much, and they are just sad to see it be over. I completely understand that but like @TheBEASTunchained said way back on page 1, “Here’s to 2020!”

Wild Gravity has the best weekly update videos. The zoom on their camera is really good. I would say they have about another two weeks on the footings before the first drop is done. I would expect to see new blueprints filed after the 4th weekend so that they can start getting into the main coaster section.

Also does anybody know if the new shed has been completed off in the woods? It still makes a lot of sense to move that red and white building and open that area up as a plaza area. It would give great views of the drop and you could fit a restroom and food spot over there as well.

I don’t think the building will be removed according to the plans, but they could maybe put a small entrance plaza right next to the old Firehawk photo booth where you enter the giga. It would be nice if it looked like Banshee’s entrance.

I think that belongs to Oktoberfest...

That that is true, but I know some people that don’t even know there is an area behind The Racer! Oktoberfest is also pretty forgotten, but I think it just needs a new ride or coaster like what X-Base is getting in 2020!

  9. I still think the park will have announced, let alone tease, the new coaster before supports start going up. Imagine people seeing a coaster rising high when the park has not even said a word about it. However, it does look like they will want to go vertical fairly soon, so I hope the announcement is not too far away!

  10. It would be really cool if Kings Island could make it extend from the Invertigo/Congo Falls plot of land and go over or under the front gate with a renovation of the main entrance (if they can only use Invertigo’s space, that would be ideal). I am not saying that they should build a completely new entrance because of the International Restaurant being there, but it would be nice for them to maybe put some stone or brick over the outside of the current entrance (idk... I just think it would be cool if they spruced it up a little bit). They could also update the ticket booth area like Carowinds did when they got a new entrance.

  11. I also hope they don’t announce the coaster before they play the announcement video. The crowds at previous Kings Island announcements have gone crazy when the video shows the new coaster. Carowinds announced Copperhead Strike right before they played the video, and I was kind of disappointed. The hype gets insane when Kings Island plays the announcement video!

Maybe the announcement will be on a Friday.

Looking back at previous Kings Island new ride announcements while being owned by Cedar Fair, I am betting on the new ride being announced on a Thursday either in late July or in early August. Mystic Timbers was announced at the end of July and Banshee was announced at the beginning of August. Also, it seems like almost all of Kings Island’s recent ride announcement have been on Thursdays. Banshee, Mystic Timbers, and even the Antique Cars were announced on Thursdays, from what I have looked up!

  13. I really want to see how they can spruce up the area with this new coaster. Even if they aren’t doing a full-blown X-Base expansion, I am positive Cedar Fair will still want to pretty up the most forgotten area at Kings Island. Also, because many people think that the area will be rethemed and because the Flight of Fear locker area is to be reworked with the addition of the old Firehawk queue line, do you think they will paint and try to spruce up the Flight of Fear building? I, personally think that it could really use a little face lift!

  14. Is it possible for an indoor water ride? Because they could put one, or relocate Congo Falls, to the Tomb Raider building where there is already plumbing and electrical. But, I still don’t see the point of getting wet in an air-conditioned building. I do hope whatever goes into that building next has water tied into it like Tomb Raider did!

  15. I could possibly see us getting a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster to replace Invertigo and Congo Falls because they aren’t too expensive, and they can fit in a reasonably compact space. Also, it would give Action Zone a second top tier coaster, balancing out the crowds. As of now, I feel that Rivertown has the most top tier attractions with Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, and The Beast. Adding a new coaster to the opposite side of the park will give the park a more equal balance of attractions throughout!

Why do we care what comes after the giga? Are we really that spoiled? Its fine to speculate but countless threads like these are what's wrong with the enthusiast community- everyone is too far into the future that they overlook what's happening now.

As can be seen from the Decoding 2020 thread: people will do it anyways. Everyone in the coaster community likes to speculate about their home park’s future!

I also don't see KI getting a suspended coaster. We have Invertigo and Raptor is 4 hours to the north. :D

It’s a good thing we got that green Intamin coaster instead because Cedar Fair would never have given us an inverted coaster with Raptor so close...

All the 20 year theory suggest is that Kings Island is playing catch up because of Paramounts poor investments. Most parks got their inverts in the 90’s or early 2000’s we didn’t. Canada’s wonderland is just now getting a high capacity comfortable modern steel looping coaster..

I thought it was Kings Island would not get the same type of coaster until 20 years after Cedar Point got the same kind, but I am probably wrong...

I hope its not a spinning coaster. I will get the credit it but never ride again. Yak! spinning is no good for me lol

I saw a test video of Maxx Force and I think its an S&S. The launch really surprised me. Looks real intense.

I don’t want a launched spinning coaster either, but I see it as a possibility. I am on team Intamin launch coaster like you!

We had this exact same conversation about Diamondback and Banshee being built, and yet....

Also, Mack has built bigger and faster launch coasters than Copperhead Strike before.

The 20-year theory is actually convincing now that we are getting a giga in 2020, so I hope that does not mean we don’t get a multi launch coaster until 2027... I can’t wait that long!

Maverick and Copperhead strike are very different attractions, not to mention Cedar Point already has several “flagship” attractions so Kings Island getting one that’s similar to Maverick isn’t that unreasonable.

True, but the spinning aspect makes me think that it will be more marketable and easier to break records... not that the park cares about records anyways as can be seen from the 2020 project!
