I remember back in the day they are people assigned just for the flood patios. Cleaning tables emptying trash etc.

Maybe people still think they do. Still don't think that's a good reason for someone to leave their trash though.

Also has anyone noticed the sycamore ravine on The Beast nearly stops you dead in your tracks mid descent, or is it just me? Every time I rode it this year, it killed all the momentum from the first drop in about the same spot. It was a huge contrast to last year where I barely felt any trims or anything.

Seeing all of the posts on social media today makes me want to get back up to the park - I haven't been since 2019.

I'm going to try to get up there at some point this season, but am concerned about taking the old Walk of Shame. Right now I'm 6' 2'' and around 310, so I'm not sure what I can/can't fit on at this point.

Ive been dreading the same thing, especially on The Beast. If we are able to this year would be my neices first night ride and i want to be there with her.

I am 5'4" and 280 now and I was around 270 last season. I was boarderline for all the coasters except for Mystic Tibers. Banshee and Invertigo weren't open though so I didn't get to try that. I somehow  got onto FoF even though it hasn't been kind to me in the past and I found the b&ms were closer calls than the ptcs. Oh, and I had no problem on The Bat. I hope in some way this helps.

I doubt a modern Virginia Reel could be made with that kind of car. Laws and guidelines concerning restraint design on new installations have come a long way since Virginia Reels last existed, and from what I've seen of them, they basically had no restraints anyway.

I wonder if this would be doable under todays guidelines. Probably not.

Well, technically you can still experience those feeling.

Yeah, but it's not the same. You're not in a huge wash tub like car.

Still doubling down on a Virginia Reel for the Coney Mall. I can not be convinced with anything else.

Apparently, I'm not the only one. Lol how did I miss this comment?

  5. I was looking at wikipedia's list of former Kings Island attractions to see what the oldest ride to ever operate at the park was (it was the original Dodgem btw), and I found this in the list of former areas. I can't imagine it's true since the festhouse and viking fury are still there but still.

  6. I would just like to add that the announcement said the park was working on "a new and reimagined ride experience", meaning they are referring to a single ride instead of saying, "we'll keep building cool rides don't worry".

Now that could just mean that they already have a plan on a coaster they want to replace it with, the reimagine part hinting to it being a similar attraction or an homage to dragster. But they may be referring to the ride that's already there.

I should also say that Six Flags over Texas just pulled something similar. That doesn't really mean anything, it's just kinda weird.

Hi everyone! I'm going to KI this Saturday, and as you can guess I'm a bigger girl.  I am just shy over 300lb and 5'7". Although it's pretty evenly distributed, I'm still large enough to be worried.  I've read a forum or two on here, but the newest one was from 2018.  Roller Coasters are my absolute favorite, and I really want to try and ride everything if I can! But is there anything I should watch out for? or is there certain rows or seats I should sit in? Thanks everyone for the help!

I'm a bit larger myself (around 240) and I can say that the only rides I have problems with at Kings Island is Mystic Timbers, Banshee, and Flight of Fear. I barley fit in Mysti last year and it made the ride super painful. I've given up on trying to fit on FOF and Banshee has rows for larger guests, but I've still found that B&M restraints are unkind to larger people. The Beast and The Racer are a little tricky too. My advice is to not fully sit down when you put the seat belt on and pull down the lap bar while you sit down.

Other than that, you should be good. Arrow is a larger rider's best friend and Diamondback and Orion might be tight. Oh, and I haven't ridden Invertigo in a while so I can't really tell you about that one.

Flat ride wise, the scrambler, Viking Fury, Antique Auto, and the log flume is fine. Drop Zone and Delirium I've had trouble with. And Boo Blasters is safe too, so you can enjoy the remnants of two better dark rides (where my Scooby fans at).

I carry most of my weight in the belly (unfortunately) and I'm pretty short (5'4). I hope this helps and I wish you well. I had to take my first walk on El Toro this spring and that was a coaster credit high on my bucket list.

I love Phantom Theater, I loved Scooby too, and overall miss the Hanna-Barbara theming in the park.

You don't know how happy it makes me to see Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle. Most people overlook it because Phantom Theater and Enchanted Voyage came before it, but that ride was a highlight of my childhood.

I got quite few bruises my last couple trips. Middle of the car is usually okay but still pretty shaky. I do get what you're saying about it feeling out of control but I only feel that's the case when its running particularly fast, like the rain ride I got earlier in the season. It was the first time in my life where I hit the midcourse trims and went "thank god." In fact my nephew and I said it in unison. It was a lot of fun because of how ridiculous it seemed.

Reminds me of my nieces first ride. She insisted on holding my hand which was a huge mistake. When I reached out to hold her hand my elbow was rested against her head. Each time we hit a turn I could feel her slam her head into my arm but she refused to let me move. She still managed to hold my hand for the entire ride and even had a mark on her head to prove it.

Wish they could do something about that midcourse. It really is a momentum killer(I know it's supposed to slow you down, but man). As for bruises, I purposely try to get them(it's a tradition in our family to ride in the roughest seats as possible) and I haven't even gotten a mark for quite some time. I'm sure you get more rides in throughout the season because I only visit the park a couple times a year (I'm a Wisconsin native). Through my experience, though, I feel the ride has gotten much tamer over the years. I'm just worried a re-track would tame it even more.

  10. I really like The Racer re-track, but a huge part of me is skeptical. Part of the charm of The Beast is it's jerking/rumbling. It makes the ride feel more wild and out of control. And, honestly if you ask me, I think The Beast has gotten smoother. I used to get bruises on the thing all the time, but now not even sitting in the middle or very back of the car will end in a bruise. Honestly, they should just leave their sacred cow alone.

Restraints were awful and made worse and claustrophobic by the support ring design.

That's how I felt about Green Lantern at Magic Mountain. The over the shoulder restraints and the shield at the side made you feel like you were trapped in a ball and being tossed around. It was claustrophobic and definitely painful.
