  1. Disney passes are not anywhere close to $200. They are a LOT more than that. Unless you are a Florida (or California) resident. Don't get me started about that one! Your questions are all excellent ones. The short answer is that no one outside of Cedar Fair knows, and those at Cedar Fair may not have decided yet.
  2. Laser is very smooth...and very intense. The lateral and centrifical forces are quite strong. Many people gray out in the loops, especially on hot days. It is a very small coaster by modern standards, and was built to be portable.
  3. And I don't think attendance is factor one, two, three or even sixty four concerning when Son of Beast reopens, if it does. At Cedar Fair, guest safety is paramount.
  4. True enough, but it IS Viacom that IS building a park in China. And Viacom has made clear that it is interested in building other Paramount Parks outside North America, as well. . .
  5. My advice is different. What each of us likes or doesn't varies. Maybe you will love this ride, maybe not. But if you ride it, make HIM ride something or do something he doesn't particularly care for later! That's part of what life is all about...fair play and sacrificing for others you love.
  6. Never said that. Halloweekends is free with admission at Cedar Point. Same at Dorney. In fact, at Dorney, bonus weekends have reduced admission fees since Wildwater Kingdom is closed! Besides, HHN is Uni!
  7. There is no city dump adjacent to Camden Park. There is a sometimes foul smelling Ohio River. What you probably thought was a dump is in fact a coal tipple and storage facility!
  8. Cedar Fair bought the North American Paramount Parks. It rejected several projects, which continue to be owned by CBS and/or Viacom. It also did not buy the rights to Paramount Parks overseas. It was offered a LICENSE to use the Paramount name and theming for up to ten years. That license does not cover China.
  9. Uh, no. It's my understanding Cedar Fair purchased ONLY the North American rights to Paramount Parks. CBS and Viacom did not sell Cedar Fair the rights to develop parks in China, and apparently, according to this article, DID offer to sell them those rights, which Cedar Fair turned down. If Cedar Fair didn't buy those rights, how did it get them???
  10. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...010/-1/BUSINESS According to THIS Cedar Fair is the one that rejected an interest in Great Wolf, not CBS refusing to sell its interest...
  11. Know too that Cedar Fair is VERY strict about their cancellation policies. You really should read this page before reserving there: http://resorts.cedarpoint.com/public/guidelines.cfm
  12. If I remember correctly, Breakers Express doesn't even offer a shuttle to the park. Right?
  13. It's true there are not elevators...at least I don't remember any. And if you not in to historical, you might well be better off somewhere else....The ONE place I would ABSOLUTELY avoid is Breakers Express. There are better values elsewhere for the prices that Cedar Fair gets, and the bennies of staying at Breakers Express are tiny indeed. . . The newer section of Breakers is Breakers East....You might also find this chart helpful: http://resorts.cedarpoint.com/public/compare.cfm
  14. Heard it really isn't that nice and it is really old. I was also told the rooms are small. What would be your second choice? You SAID you wanted to stay on property. If you prefer newer, relatively cramped, and nowhere near as nice, there's Sandcastle Suites. Breakers REALLY is the way to go...but if you simply MUST have new and pay more for less, then Sandcastle Suites is next. . . It's been my experience that those who criticize Breakers have usually not stayed there, and are merely parroting what others, who also have not stayed there, have told them.
  15. That's easy..then. Breakers. End of story, if there's room!
  16. If they really want to cheap out, I suppose they could replace the Paramount mountains with dancing Snoopy's or Nick characters!
  17. Sure, but why not open at, say, 2 and close at 10? The way they are doing it now is really, really upsetting a lot of people. People who get to the park to find it closed for the entire day in June (when it had been open before) or people who get there at 5 and are LIVID when the park closes at 7:30... Staffing would cost no more, and the crowds would quickly adopt. Being a community park, many if not most of the attendees are local, and work during the weekdays. . .Camden is hardly a destination park for all but a very few people. And mechanically, the rides at Camden ARE kept in good repair. I have NEVER seen duct tape on the Big Dipper, and the state of West Virginia would never allow such a thing.
  18. Except, of course, that the bottom portion of the sign is a replica of the one at Paramount Studios in California......
  19. Or, the exact reverse: that he was WELL aware of FearFest and meant what he said about the Paramount Parks starting a Halloweekends type event.... It's hard to say. I tend to agree with you and think he was not aware of Fear Fest, but with all the due diligence before a deal is announced, I'm really not so sure how realistic that is. . .
  20. Hmmm. Yeah, a lot of the "overgrowth" has been removed. They cut down nearly every tree in the park, and the place is now hot on all but the mildest days. Their schedule is also inane. Most days, if they are open at all (and June is a perfect example of a crazy schedule), they close at 7:30. This in a park that was open 10-10 every summer day but Mondays for years and years. If you go, be SURE to check their schedule at: http://www.camdenpark.com/calendar.html They also now charge $3 for parking, which has irritated the adjacent homeowners in the nearby neighborhoods to no end, I hear. They do put on a nice little Spooktacular, and I hear that it is included for passholders this year at no extra charge. They even tried their own little version of Winterfest, but it failed miserably and hasn't been repeated (they sold passes, had Santa for kids, and gave out dollar store cookies and Swiss Miss-type hot chocolate...) The Flying Scooters are like Indiana Beach's, but they didn't get the brake, apparently. They take a verrrry long time to stop. And if you ride in the very back of the Big Dipper, I'd say you would get a violent ride. The back seat has been missing for some time now...or if you ride in the very back SEAT, you will be riding in the middle of the back car... I recommend the back seat of the first car...as I do on most wood coasters. . .
  21. Dalefan is really going to have fun when he gets to the Wisconsin Dells....
  22. a. The "if" part of "if you see them closing." b. WE pay a lot more attention to park operations than typical patrons, who pay operations either little or no mind. They are there to have fun, and often have 1000 other things on their minds, or nothing at all...many of them don't even realize there ARE gates, or that they open and close...and couldn't tell you that even after being in the park all day. I'm always amazed that if you ask most members of the public how many cars are on a particular coaster train, the answer is almost always one....
  23. And HHN is not free......Annual passholders do get a discount, though. And a pass for the duration of the event is available, but that pass is just for the event. And starting again this year, the event is also going on in California again. . .
  24. Kennywood doesn't sell ride tickets any more. It hasn't for several years. Kennywood also doesn't sell season passes. How would you like THOSE bananas?
  25. No trip to Florida is ever complete for me without a stop to visit Kumba!
