Speaking of which, if anyone is going tonight and is getting the lantern It would be cool to hear what the SOB crate interactive point does.

OK first of all, call me a Vekoma-fan boi all you want, but I am STOKED to see a larger scale new age Vekoma make its way state side. Even if it was meant to go somewhere else, I could care less. I LOVE the theming. I've been enjoying the darker-omen type theming and names that Cedar Fair has been going with. Really can't wait to see what merch they come out with for this one.
I will say that it does feel just a tad overwhelming that they had TT2 purposed to open this year and it fell incredibly short of that expectation and will essentially still be a brand new ride for next year seeing as only a handful of people in the grand scheme of things were able to ride it this year. It will be interesting to see how they market the coasters next year seeing as they will have essentially TWO new headliners for 2025 so long as TT2 gets it s*** together.
The lower capacity will absolutely be a nightmare, lets be real. This isn't a capacity monster by any stretch of the word and CP's ops have been dismal the last few years so I don't hold out any hope that lines will move quickly. I also wonder if FL+ will have its own que or if they will in typical CP fashion with most of their coasters have it bypass 3/4 of the line just to merge with the main standby line.
Regardless, there are absolutely no complaints here from me. This looks like a fantastically fun ride with incredible theming and I am here for it. I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning waking up to this announcement!
Now this makes me feel like the possibility of a Vekoma looper taking Vortex's plot is more possible. I know this really doesn't indicate anything, but since CF is actively working with Vekoma it makes me hopeful that KI's next big coaster could be one of their incredible new loopers.
Personally I think this lowers our chances of a modern Vekoma thrill coaster in The Vortex plot, at least for a while. Kings Island is not going to debut a new coaster one or two years after Cedar Point got a model that will ride the same and feel almost the same. It’s like if Cedar Point built GateKeeper in 2013 and in 2014 Kings Island built a wing coaster. The park was actually looking into a wing coaster for 2014 but since Cedar Point was getting GateKeeper they decided on an invert. I do believe this makes 2026 our year with Cedar Point getting back to back major coasters and the parks not liking to do major additions in the same year. I think the park is saving The Vortex plot for something special and I can’t wait to see what it is in the future. I do think the park is going to have to get very creative with our next coaster. Should be very interesting.

I have heard, though cannot confirm, that they are adding a copy of RiverRacers.
I highly doubt that. Maybe in 2026 but I really don’t see CP and KI getting the same ride when KI is marketing it as Ohio’s first racing water coaster. It’s like if both of them added Top Thrill 2 in the same year and they both said the worlds’s tallest and fastest triple launch strata coaster. It doesn’t make sense to add the same ride in the same year when they’re only 3 hours away.

My thought exactly when I saw this Sunday. Guess the “retheme” ship has sailed and KI isn’t on it.
Or maybe they have plans for The Vortex plot of land and the end of Coney Mall before they want to do anything with Action Zone.

Didn't Kiddie Land close at 6pm previous year, looks like they pushed it back to 7pm
Do you remember where you saw that?

They didn't explain where the scare zone for hook is going to be.
I saw that. The other scare zones seem to be staying so my best guess is the path between Rivertown and Coney Mall but we’ll see. When I tried to pull up the Haunt map to see where it might be the calendar & map page only shows the calendar and I don’t see the Haunt map. Also I noticed how when you click on rides or shows it just takes you to their normal pages. Seems like those aren’t available to view yet.

While riding the Blue Racer and Adventure Express yesterday we were able to see most if not all of the Winterfest floats set up in the float tent behind The Racer. It looks like we will still get some amazing family experiences but I'm curious to see how this year will compare with next year.
What are some of your thoughts on what you would like to see/anticipating for this year?
Winterfest is set to debut on November 29th opening up at 5 PM est!
I hope KI can get Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers open for Winterfest. It should be able to run in colder temperatures. Many modern Vekoma rides do. Also it only has one train which would make maintenance easier. Excited for Winterfest this year!

After having visited Kings Dominion last month and seeing the Candy Apple Grove area (the equivalent of Coney Mall at Kings Island), I really loved the charm it was giving and how, for the most part, it felt like a little carnival-ish/midway themed area. When coming back to Kings Island a few days after being at KD, I couldn't help but admit that I preferred Candy Apple Grove over Coney Mall. There are some parts of CM that feel like a classic theme park midway, specifically Coney Island. However, at CAG they have these giant candy apples with the land's logo printed on them sticking out of the ground up and down the midway. Plus you also have the singing mushrooms in that land, which just adds this level of quirkiness and charm that you can't help but respond to with a big smile on your face. You don't really see that level of charm while in CM, or at least I don't. I'm not saying that they should copy KD, but they should at least do something on a similar level. Here are some of my ideas.
Posters: Something that the park could possibly do would be putting vintage style posters around the CM that would advertise the different rides food options in that land. They could even be made by Made To Thrill. They already have a poster for The Racer, one for the Blue Ice Cream, and one for the Coney Mall area.
Color scheme: Another thing the park should do is give some of the buildings in CM a new color scheme. The one I think would look really cool would be a red and white (and maybe a little bit of blue) theme. They could paint red and white stripes on the top of the Dodgem building. The big letters on the arcade building that are currently white could be colored red, with the blue walls changed to white and would have a red outline.Think of something like in the image above, but recolor the blue parts to red and put lights around the edges. They could also WindSeeker a red and white theme, and maybe redo the ride's logo to give a more carnival/midway feel to it.
Bring back the old entrance sign: For those who don't remember, there used to be a cool entrance gate that separated CM from Oktoberfest (now known as Adventure Port).I really can't think of any logical reason why the park even removed it in the first place. It looked so charming. During the Haunt season the park would even change the sign to read "Coney Maul."It was so unique and charming. However, for some reason the park felt like they didn't need it anymore . I honestly think they should bring it back. Please tell me your thoughts on this part.
Vortex replacement: I'm gonna try to make this as short and as simple as I possibly can, since this subject has definitely been discussed a million times on this site. I honestly think the park should go with a Gerstlauer infinity coaster, like a miniature version of Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm. Nothing too extreme, but not too tame either. Maybe a few inversions. If possible, a height requirement of 48 inches, since the park is missing a family coaster with inversions due to Vortex no longer being there. They could give it a cool light package to make it look very photogenic at night.
Backlot Stunt Coaster retheme: This idea is more of a maybe. If the park were to retheme BSC, I think they should make the ride vehicles look like vintage hot rods. Maybe the police cars that you pass by after the helix could be replaced with vintage cars with possible fake spectators standing on top of or peeking out from inside, watching and cheering you on. They could also repaint the helicopter to look like a news chopper that is trying to capture the race live, or a police chopper telling you that you've entered a dangerous restricted area and that you need to leave immediately, only to get interrupted by some explosions, resulting in your vehicle making an escape into the sewers. You would still come out of the giant billboard, but now there would be a camera on the que line bridge that would take a picture of you as you're busting out of the billboard. Depending on why they removed it, they could bring back the splashdown effect that the ride used to have during the first few years it was open. However, I currently don't think it's mandatory to make BSC fit with the style/theme of CM.
That's all the ideas I currently have in terms of a retheme of CM. Please let me know what you think of all of this and if you have any suggestions.span widgetspan widget
I really like your ideas and I do agree the area could use a bit of a refresh. I’d really like to see the top half of Coney Mall back by WindSeeker split into new section of the park with The Vortex replacement. Personally I’d like to see either a Mack Xtreme spinner or Mack Stryker coaster and not another family coaster because I feel we have quite a bit already but that might just be me. I don’t have a specific idea for a new area theme but I would like to see BLSC rethemed to that back section as part of the new area. Along with the new section in the back half I’d like to see some work done on touching up Coney Mall to freshen it up as well.

What am I missing? What are the possible large implications? How many people come to the park with 10 minors? How would they all even get there in one vehicle...legally? (Not counting a city bus.)
The chaperone must accompany the minor(s) at all times now.

Kings Island announced that it will debut Ohio's first-ever and only dual-racing water coaster, the "RiverRacers." Officials also announced the riverside-themed kids' play area "Splash River Junction" will be expanded, with the addition of seven new kids' water slides, as well as hundreds of new loungers and chairs that will offer guests seating options in both the sun and shade.
Looks like Local 12 got the news out before the park did. A dual-racing water coaster named RiverRacers! Also Bluegill Lagoon is now Splash River Junction with seven new kids slides and more seating!
This is a perfect addition for Soak City! I just love the color scheme of RiverRacers. It’s really going to pop on the skyline. I also really like the splash river junction expansion. I’ve been calling for a family set of water slides and that is an amazing addition. Well done KI!

So only season passholders can purchase them?

I don't know if I want to go Mack spinner crazy, I would take something along the lines of Copperhead at Carowinds with maybe a bit more umph to the launches. A ground-up RMC I-box coaster would be welcome, I would settle for a floorless or wing coaster if they have to go with B&M again (no dive coaster please). If Vekoma could pull off a muti-inversion launch coaster that could handle 3 train operations, I'd be okay with that as well. An Infinity Coaster would be more in the spirit of Vortex if they go more inversion centric.
Sticking with Mack, a Mack Stryker coaster would be a fantastic addition. It could still be inversion focused but be the modern launch we need with ejector airtime.

If you had to choose one addition from the surveys Kings Island sent out, which one would you choose?

One of the concepts in the passholder survey was to use The Vortex land to extend The Beast and create The Beast 2.0.
I am not a fan of this concept. I love The Beast but they should keep it the way it is. Extending it might ruin its charm that I love. This is not the best way to use The Vortex plot of land. It should be used for a new coaster. Just retrack The Beast with more precut track if they want to do some work on it. Our two launch coasters are great but I still feel we need a modern launch coaster of some kind.

Makes you wonder how much longer for Congo Falls.
With Snake River Falls being removed that leaves only one water attraction left in the park. I know the survey CP sent out earlier this year had a Mack water coaster on it. I think that’d be a really good replacement.

I'm curious about the future development of Kings Island and would love to hear your thoughts on what each section of the park might need by the end of the decade.
What improvements or additions would you like to see in areas like rides, attractions, dining, infrastructure, and guest services?
Do you think there will be a new section added to the park? If so, what kind of theme or attractions would you hope for?
I’ll go through each section and list what I would like to see.
- International Street. Not much I would add here but others have mentioned it and I’d like to see the old music back. The old music really set the mood for a grand entrance.
- Planet Snoopy. Personally I’d like to see Camp Snoopy expanded into Planet Snoopy to have one cohesive them but I doubt that will happen. My second option would be updating Boo Blasters in some way to improve it as it’s starting to get a bit out dated.
- Camp Snoopy. I really like the new Camp Snoopy section of the park however I feel it is lacking some more trees to feel more campy. Attractions wise I would like to see Woodstock’s Air Rail receive the new gen Vekoma suspended trains as those are way more comfortable than the current trains.
- Rivertown. Obviously I would like to see a new attraction come to the Crypt building. What attraction that would be I’m not sure. Not sure if it would be possible but I think it would be cool if a two story restaurant was added in Rivertown with balcony seating. It could make for some really scenic views.
- New section. I feel the path between Rivertown and Coney Mall could potentially be a new section of the park. Backlot Stunt Coaster feels very out of place to me and if we got a new coaster in The Vortex plot of land I would like to see both of these coasters in a new section of the park if they could retheme Backlot as well.
- Coney Mall. The back half of Coney Mall by WindSeeker always feels dead to me. If a new coaster came in The Vortex plot of land maybe the back portion past the Antique Autos could be part of the new area as well. Also I think a set of bathrooms near The Racer and front of Coney Mall could help as the nearest restrooms would be the back of Coney Mall if I’m not mistaken.
- Area 72. A new flat ride could work very well here because as of right now it’s just FOF and Orion. I would like to see a Zamperla NebulaZ or an S&S Screamin Swing although lane might be an issue here. One more thing. I always seem to find the seating by Meteor Canteen taken. Some more seating with umbrellas would be a welcome addition.
- Adventure Port. Not a particular addition but some more trees would be very welcome as there is not a lot of shade here. Also I don’t know if this would be possible but a small boat ride of some kind maybe self propelled could be cool.
-
Action Zone. This is definitely the area of KI that needs the most work. The area needs a new identity and a Haunted theme would be the best option in my opinion. Repaint Banshee, retheme Drop Tower and Delirium to fit with the new Haunted theme. That could be phase one bringing the whole area together. Then in the future I could see Invertigo and possibly Congo Falls (maybe) getting removed and I’d like to see a B&M Surf coaster themed to King Cobra replace them. It could easily tie into the new haunted area if they theme it as King Cobra returning for revenge.

Prep for what's to come in 2026?
There’s also been survey markings at the end of Coney Mall by The Vortex plot of land so they’re probably just trying to get a good idea of multiple areas in the park and haven’t settled on anything yet.

I finally got to ride Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers a few weeks ago and it’s a really fun ride! Very smooth. I really like the log cabin station. I don’t know if it was just me but I did get a little dizzy going backwards but it wasn’t too bad. Great addition!

I noticed today that when you go to the KIGear site you are forwarded to https://merch.cedarfair.com/
I am still happy that I can buy Kings Island stuff without going to the park…but wish I didn’t have to wade through all of Cedar Fair’s parks other merchandise.
You can select a certain park…but once you do it, it is not listed from new to old…so if you want to see the New Arrivals you have to look through every parks new stuff.
I’m also curious if everything ships from one centralized location now…or if shipping would be higher if you ordered 2 different parks merch?
Also you used to be able to find the FunBox by selecting shop all parks but with the updated website it seems the FunBox is no more.

With the merger potentially reprioritizing future projects and the need to replace Vortex, I have this hunch that Invertigo will be gone by 2030 a the latest and not replaced given its overall size and capacity. If they did decide to replace it, they’d need to remove Congo as well.
I was thinking about it the other day but what if they were looking at stretching the Mack tower coaster concept across the front gate and have the station be in Invertigo’s plot of land. It has an inverted launch so theoretically the inverted launch could stretch over the entrance of the park. Just a possibility I thought of.

I actually really like the new logo. I did not expect them to go with a CF inspired logo especially since the Six Flags logo is so famous. I’m all for it though it looks amazing! I really do hope that the merger benefits both companies and we continue to see the old CF parks treated the same after the merger. Personally I hope the top five old CF park names don’t change as they already have great attendance and guests know them by their name already. I could see the Six Flags name benefiting the smaller CF parks though. I also really like the decision to make Carowinds the new flagship park of the new combined company. It’s in a great location and the park already feels very modern. I do wonder if Carowinds’ name will change since it will be the new flagship park.

Both are very good coasters and huge icons for their respective parks. I’m interested to hear everyone’s opinion!
