  1. I've organized and participated in events with entities along that exit quite a bit in the last few years. And from those experiences, stories of those who have been around... and now viewing that video (and this isn't a knock on what Kings Island currently is)- I think that Kings Island was meant to be much different than it has become. ie- more of a Mid-Western Disney Land. I think that entire exit was supposed to be the Ohio version of Lake Buena Vista in Florida.... and that the park was to be more about Fred Flintstone and Scooby Doo than record-breaking roller coasters.

Good, bad, or indifferent- the park is what is today, and for that part we have nothing but reality to compare it to. It would have been VERY interesting to see what Kings Island would have looked had the US not slumped into a 2-year recession in 1973 (through 1975)- right after opening. Plus all of the fallout from Vietnam at the time.... Kings Island could have look A LOT different had the time period of 1973-1976 not existed.

I was just thinking this. While I am perfectly happy with what Kings Island is, it must have been meant to be so much more. I noted the guy talking about the golf courses across the highway and mini golf at the campground as well as nature trails there. Does anyone want to elaborate on those for me? As far as I know, they didn't ever exist.

  2. Just thinking alittle bit about the splashdown. I am wondering how loud that will be in the back of the train also being in that area. I wonder if it will vibrate the train at all as well. Sooooo many questions I need to ride it :)

I usually do not post that often, but I would just like to say that if Diamondback's splashdown is anything like Sheikra at BGA, it's hardly noticeable, unless riding in the back where you may get lucky and feel some mist. In my opinion, it's more of an aesthetic feature than one for thrills, especially compared to the dive machines where the majority of the rows are hanging over the pool. The rooster tails really are mystifying in perosn though as I could watch Sheikra cycle all day, and that will most likely have to do until this summer :(

You hit the nail right on the head. Diamondback's splashdown has nothing to do with getting wet, it's all about how it looks from the outside.

So does that make it safe to judge this book by it's cover since it is about how it looks from the outside?

Wow, it's late and I'm tired. I'm sorry for the above post. Ignore me.

  3. Ferris Wheel at CP. No joke, it terrified me because I knew that at any moment I could open the door. I prefer to be strapped into a ride unable to remove the safety devices.

That, and ski lifts. Back in December, I went to Snowshoe with my friends who are all avid skiers and I am a beginner. I terrified me every time we got on a lift, and nobody put down the safety bar.

  4. I know I am somewhat in the minority in my opinion on this, but Apollo's Chariot is by far my least favorite B & M hypercoaster, followed closely by Raging Bull, perhaps the coaster that I was most excited about then most disappointed with compared to what I expected. ALL the others I have ridden have been splendid, without exception.

Raging Bull is a great ride. I still stand by that. Now...Iron Wolf on the other hand...

  5. Well..... funny story.

As I posted in the thread that someone created as a poll for this tidbit, what was old and will become new again will be the return of Bubba Gumps Shrimp Shack. Since then, plans have changed and we'll will see the amazing continuation of Outter Hanks. So what's old becomes vintage, I suppose. :P

    Vintage is the new new.

  6. And WaWa is the fanciest, most wonderful convenience store chain I've ever seen! :) Only some of them have gasoline, and the one by Great Adventure does. GAd also has its own gas station!

HH is Hurricane Harbor, the waterpark.

The pike is of course The New Jersey Turnpike.

There is a better gas station/convenience store than Sheetz? I refuse to believe it.
