  1. I can't believe HRP already came and went. During my several trips to MB over the years, I always thought it would be a great place to build a new amusement park. I caught the special on TV about the building of HRP. Has a park that was opened to the public ever went down so quick?

I just watched the Science Channel special about the park being built on Friday I believe. Well, needless to say, I think it was doomed from the start. There was a segment where the construction crew was assembling the giant guitar at the park. When the crew went to lift the base piece, the crane barely moved. Turns out that the weight of the piece had been estimated 1 ton under what it actually weighed. Not a good omen in my mind.

  2. Uh, you mean the footing that they had disguised as a planter holder? Both of the footings that were on the midway on opening day (one right in front of the Antique Photo building, and the others by the Crypt lockers) were the ones that received the planters for most of the season (until some of them had to be relocated for closing weekend for support construction.

    Woops, yeah I meant footing.

  3. Fun little story from our DCL trip. We took the banana boat excursion on Castaway Cay. Well, my dad was the second person from the back of the raft on his side. We hit a couple of big waves and my dad was flipped completely off the back of the boat, over the head of the guy behind him. On top of that, he was dehydrated, so upon returning to the shore he passed out...one stop to the ship board infirmary later, and all was well again.

  4. I am so jealous of you right now! I went on a Disney Cruise 4 years ago. I still have really fond memories of it, and can't wait to go again if the opportunity every arises. We went on a 7 day eastern Caribbean cruise. St. Marteen, St. Thomas/St. John, and Castaway Cay were all amazing. Glad you to see you had a grand time!

  5. In a field!?! Wouldn't it rot? At least put it in a shed! Why a field? You mean with grass in it? Or some other kind of field I don't know about?

Why yes!! A field with Grass!!!

Well, a field with grass is better than say, a mine field.

I guess the trains being at KD means we won't be able to see them in a ghostlike and dust covered state during any other KIC days...oh well. They made for some cool pictures while they lasted.

  6. He and I saw that piece of track installed for the first time in person on Tuesday

So did they install it a second time?

tubaman...who couldn't resist. Sorry Terpy if I steal any of your thunder.

The piece was suspended by a crane on Tuesday. I'm willing to go as far as saying that it's still not technically installed.

Allright, fair enough. We'll call it a draw.

  7. I talked of this on here before years ago. I went there 12-15 years ago and went back last year and the only thing that was different was the donation and DVD.

If you never been there before you should do it. When you are there you can go on across I70 about 4 more miles to Cabela drive and see where the Wild Escape Theme Park will never be.

Haha, Wild Escape...I remember that article in the Gazette. Any updates on that?

And I'm glad to see you had a wonderful time at Ogleby. I'll have to go up there sometime myself, seeing as I have never been to Wheeling and lived in WV all my life. But then again, its a long drive. Instead, for a light display substitute my hometown has our own guy who goes all out on his lights. My cousin from Cincy describes it as looking like "A spider threw up christmas lights all over his trees." It's a pretty fair assessment, but all of the townfolk love the lights. I'll try and get a picture to show.

  8. Other than Mantis (and on it I was actually thankful) and Raging Bull, I have never ridden a B & M coaster that I thought was noticeably affected by braking operations.

Well, that seems to be a pretty good sign then. And you're definitely right about Raging Bull, but that didn't stop me from riding it 10 times in one day a few years back.

  9. If this ordeal over brakes escalates anymore, I think the mods might have to step in and break it up.

Okay, I'm sorry. That was completely unnecessary, but it sure beats finishing the research paper I need to turn in...

Just as long as the trims aren't obvious (referring to feeling them slowing the train down) then I'll be happy. It just kills me on The Beast though, when you can easily feel the brakes holding it back from unleashing it's true fury.
