    • Apparently they removed a bunch of ride vehicles? The line still moved fast but that surprised me.

As was said before, it's the same number of vehicles as before, just spaced differently (2 blanks between the 2 vehicles.  This helps the experience with the spacing.

Also I'd love to see a short on how the flashlights work.  Several things are taken into account.  If you try to point it to far ahead the system get's confused (your light may be a different color) also if 2 people it the note at the same time, in my experience neither get's the note point.  Also there are different point values for different notes.  Maybe we can get everyone on here to try and find out if that is true and what the values are.

  2. Saw the show with my wife on Friday and my Grandkids yesterday and I have to say he was much better.  I think he just needed to get used to the theatre.  It's starting to grow on me.  I still now how the tricks are done, but that just grows my appreciation for the assistnants and their talent.

On Friday both of the small illustions with the girls did not go off well (the scarf and the levetating glass).  He covered it as well as he could.

I got stumped by the levitation trick he pulled.

Think no legs larry.  Watch the ring around the body VERY carefully and notice he doesn't walk all the way from the feet to the head.  Also black backdrop, curtain, etc.

This trick takes ALOT of core strength from the assistant.  She does it very well.  (Just my guess but with things like this, take away the impossible and what remains is the only possibile explanation.)

I think the show is simple but good.  Liked the use of music and choreography.  Dialog felt a little too well rehearsed though.  I do have Ed Elonzo in my head and his use of ad lib helped a lot.

I'm not sure if it's him or lighting or sound something just seemed "off".  I agree over rehearsed and to me lacked personality.  Maybe it was just the show I saw.  I'll give it another go.  The dancers were very good but I don't expect dancing in a magic show.

It definitely is geared toward children imo and I'm sure 13 and under will get a kick out of it.  I think the biggest difference between this show and other magic shows here in the past is Penn and Teller Fool Us and the internet.  Honestly I didn't see anything that I didn't know how the trick worked.  Over half of the tricks when the "big moment" happened nobody applauded or even gasped.  Nowadays close-up/slight of hand/card magic is much more mystifying and takes more talent than large scale illusions where the assistants are doing most of the work (if you know, you know).

Also, I may be wrong but does he use local tallent for the other performers in the show?  The "second" magician looks like he could be the Great Houdelini from the Encore show.

I can't wait for the park to start doing broadway style productions again, Oh how I miss the Taft years.

Has anyone here been to Soak City yet this season and tried the food? I'm considering heading over there one of these days to check it out again. I haven't been since they started beefing up the park food around 2018 and want to get the full value out of my pass and various add-ons this year.

Smoked wings are fantastic.  So are the green beans!

Audio glitched in the queue tonight and yes I also noticed they were skipping quite a few opera boxes. Only main thing of note that I find funny is during the first weekend of the ride I got 999999 first time but now I can’t get it so I suppose the score has been adjusted to make it hard, does anyone know if some notes count for more points or do all the notes score the same total

Where I haven't confirmed it, I believe I heard some notes are more than others.  Also the number of riders has alot to do with it.  The first time I rode it i was by myself in my car and the next one had no one in it so basically 1 flashlight for all the notes and I maxed out at Hilda.  However you get the other car full and you have 4 lights competing for notes instead 1.  Not to mention you can try and it the notes on an upcoming scene (sometimes giving you a different color on your flashlight).  Not sure but I think at that point you're scoring for someone else.  Also 2 beams hitting the same not does nothing, (as far as I can tell).   I would love to see how this system works exactly.  None the less it's much more accurate than Boo ever was.

Something interesting we saw was that the Brewhouse has new order locator pucks! The old ones had the sticker with a number on top and just buzzed when your order was ready. The new ones have a digital number display on one side and there is now a sticker on each table that you're supposed to put the locator on. It seems to be nicer than the old system, but we'll have to see how it works out over time.

I noticed those also, the only problem is they don't make it clear to put the puck on the sticker.  Maybe I missed something but it wasn't very intuitive that i had to do it.  I'm pretty sure it works off the sticker and it's more of a way to have the server know where to look for it.

I was really hoping that CP would announce the addition of a new sit-down restaurant in either the old Melt or Famous Dave’s marina spaces (or, both). There’s not a lot of full-service after-park dinner options available now other than TGI Fridays (not a fan of Bay Harbor) so will probably give the hibachi place in Breakers a try this year. Yeah, I know Famous Daves just moved over to Castaway Bay, but the part I like about that vacation the best is once I land at Hotel Breakers I don’t get in the car or leave the peninsula for two days 😀

I was also hoping for a third option (we don't like Friday's).  Best part of the marina space was when it served Montgomery Inn ribs!

Tomo's (Breakers habachi place) Is the meal my wife and I look forward to each time we go.  It's fantastic!  (More Saki, More Happy!!!)  Also it looks like the Bay Harbor Menu has had some changes to it.  Looking forward to trying some of the new offerings.  Perkins is also great but isn't open for Dinner.

I take anything Screamscape says with a grain of salt. Also idk if it would be the best idea to go with a prototype from S&S given the track record of S&S and prototypes as well as the reliability of recent S&S installations. Looking at you Maxx Force and Steel Curtain!

Not to mention the history of KI with prototypes (lookin at you original Bat :))

The capacity wasn’t the best- there were a ton of gaps between the opera boxes- I’m not sure if that was intentional, if it was the same number as before but spaced out differently, or if not all the boxes had been reinstalled yet.

The audio in the que- A few people have pointed this out already, but you can only really hear Larry when you’re on the right side of the building as opposed to how you can hear Maestro throughout the whole queue.

The portraits-The portraits could be a little louder too- I like the idea of them interacting with one another, but I’m not entirely a fan of the AI. That might sound hypocritical as I’ve shared AI renderings on here before, but I’m not trying to make money off of it whereas the park/company is using it for one of their attractions.

I was told it's the same number of boxes just spaced differently and done so the scenes don't step on one another (or you have to many guests trying for the same notes)

Completely agree on the audio.  Larry needed to be louder (and Archie could have be quieter :))

  11. Rode it Friday twice and then on Saturday with 2 of my grandkids.  This ride is absolutely fantastic for what is is meant to be.  In my opinion this is NOT for the original Phantom Theatre fans.  It is "inspired" by the original ride NOT meant to be a reproduction of it.  Keep in mind FAMILY RIDE.  The original was much darker and scared small children.  This one still does a little (especially the lightning/thunder effects in the queue).   The biggest surprise and what made me smile was where the "peppers ghost" effect used to be.  ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT in my opinion.  I'm sure I'm in a minority but I think the peppers ghost effect in today's day and age may be more trouble than it would be worth.  Face it people today are a little more "brave" to deface things (spitting on mirrors, gum, etc.) I'm sure that would require daily cleaning.  I truely fear for Larry in the queue.  They have signs about cameras but by then it may be to late.  Plexi glass around the section would help (but spitting may still be there).  Doing this would have to have left the exit doors still accessible and would may have affected the popcorn scent (loveley touch).  Another observation was the neither the Maestro nor Larry do the narration for the information videos on how to use the flashlights.  This may be a signal that in case Maestro or Larry stop working the instructions would still be viable.

I used Fast Lane my first ride (20 min) the second i waited in line (almost 3 hours).  The line seemed to go in spurts.  I can understand this because with the new cars, new tech and I'm assuming some work on the track system since it was exposed I think it will take some time to fine tune it.  After all with 28 or so boxes and 400-500 in each box that's alot of weight compared to cycling with half of the boxes empty.

Saturday when i took the grandkids it was about 2 hours and even though we were there around 3-4 we did get the keychains they were given out.  :)

Finally, I noticed a LARGE amount of people entering through the exit.  The line was all the way outdoors every time I passes the ride all day.  I'm sure the long waits were becuase of stopping for loading special needs which is fine but it does bring up how many people were taking advantage of the situation to avoid the line.  Honestly I've never seen that before with Boo or Scooby.  It will be interesting to see how long that line is next weekend or in the middle of the season.  I understand the need for those who need it but I have heard that KI is rather lax on the reasons they accept for these exceptions.

All in all a FANTASTIC addition which I will be riding over and over.  Great job to Sally and the KI team (and Rick)!!

Just a random question, why are so many people maxing out the score with like 999999? Targets worth too many points? Ride breaking down/stopping for loading resulting in these crazy maxed out scores? Been seeing a lot of them posted on Facebook

The boxes are two at a time (two boxes, two blanks) this creates much more space between sets of boxes.  My first ride the first box had no one in it and I was alone in the 2nd box.  I had 999,999 by the 1/2 way point of the ride (Hilda).  The second time I rode it i was in the first box with a fellow rider and not sure how many but there were people in the 2nd box. My score was around 390,000.  So the more people competing to hit notes the lower the score (from what I could gather 1 person has to hit the note for points, if more than 1 hit it at the same time the note survives.  ie. no ties).

    Hope that helps.

  13. In my opinion It's a flat, no different than antique cars.  To me a roller coaster COASTS.  Surf Dog and Pipe Scream both are propelled by the ride vehicle itself.  You could put the ride vehicles on the ground and provide power (I'm pretty sure power is supplied by the track) and it will go/stop on its own.  The track they run on doesn't have any means of propeling the ride vehicle (besides providing power) nor any way to stop the ride vehicle.  Therefore I don't consider it a roller "coast"er.  Just my 2 cents.
