  1. The ads I heard for this show on WGRR yesterday were saying that this is the first time all of these musicians have been on stage together in more than 20 years. Not sure if that's actually true or if it's just creative marketing, but I'm not missing out on this opportunity. I never got a chance to see them when they used to play Riverfront every year.
  2. Just got my ticket It's times like this that remind me why I don't go to more concerts like these... Ticket price: $51.50 Facility charge: $3.50 Convenience charge: $11.50 Order processing fee: $5.50 So, a ticket with a face value of $51.50 ended up costing me $72. A bit more than I wanted to pay, but it was either that or lawn seats.
  3. Well worth the trip in my opinion. We made a stop there on our way to Orlando about 12 years ago. Too bad I didn't know about Lake Winnie back then or I would have found a way to stop there as well.
  4. This should help... http://www.johnweeks.com/tour/vegas/index.html
  5. But they already have Firehawk... kind of. And you don't want that crappy B&M stand up. My trade would be: Diamondback for the Stan Mikita statue that used to be at Carowinds. I'd have more fun watching that. Carowinds isn't my home park, so I don't really care if they have something similar already... Are B&M stand-ups really that bad? That one looks like fun to me.
  6. I believe most of the old signs are still on property. Those on this forum who have been fortunate enough to get a tour of the sign shop can probably verify this though.
  7. There are plenty of great outside-the-park dining options in the area depending on your preferences. My favorite is Culver's on Tylersville (South on KI Drive, hang a right onto Western Row, continue onto Tylersville and keep going for another 2 miles or so). I am glad to hear that DQ and Chipotle have moved into the area. Anyone want to take bets on how much longer Taco Bell will last with Chipotle nearby?
  8. If bandwidth is a concern, I'd be willing to host them on my server for free. There's no way you'd use up that bandwidth (though the server has a habit of getting bogged down due to high memory usage so there might still be a few times when they'd be unavailable). Let me know if you're interested and I'll give you an FTP account and a folder where you can store them.
  9. KD was built following the success of KI, and has always been a sister park to KI, so it's likely both parks had similar rides and attractions at the time. Wikipedia says their monorail was added in 1974 (a year before the park opened) and also lasted until 1993 like KI's.
  10. Firehawk for Carowinds' Vortex:
  11. Thanks for the explanation Terp. I definitely agree that this just doesn't add up - stock is trading 13% higher than the offer price and we're being told that this is the "best" out of 33 offers (I sincerely doubt that the other 32 offers are worse than this - surely there aren't that many companies who would make an offer without ensuring that it looked good for shareholders). I'm wondering if the CEO stands to get stock options or a bonus out of this deal.
  12. More great landscaping, though I have to question the fashion sense of the guy in the photo.
  13. WOLF closed even higher on Monday, at $5.64 a share, just $0.09 of the new 52-week-high of $5.73. There's also this new article, but I have no clue what it means, so I'll let Terp or Leland explain it http://www.marketwat...2017-2012-03-26
  14. I'm sure they covered things up with tarps as needed.
  15. They were also having trouble getting WS open in time for ERT, at least after it first opened.
  16. I can think of one reason why having ERT on Tower would be good - getting shots of the fog around DB/Beast in the early morning hours.
  17. Such a shame that landscaping doesn't get as much attention now as it used to. Hopefully that will change this season though.
  18. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself here as far as the water bill is concerned. Chester Park learned the hard way that you don't mess around with the water company...
  19. What I find most interesting about this is that the CEO continues to claim that Apollo gave them the best offer, but there were apparently 32 other offers as well. If this is really the best deal out of 33 potential offers, I'd hate to see what the other offers actually were.
  20. I'm waiting to see how many people start thinking that the repainted Invertigo is a new coaster entirely rather than just a repainted one.
  21. I don't see the park renaming Coney Mall anytime soon. X-Base might possibly be its own section some day, but a lot depends on how much room they have to expand back there.
  22. Invertigo doesn't make much sense to me either. I know that ride can have a long wait at times, but that's more due to its capacity than its popularity. Eiffel Tower makes some sense as you have to walk right by it to get to most areas of the park anyway, but it's not like it usually has a long line. Funny how they also decided that WindSeeker isn't really ERT-worthy after all.
  23. Interesting to see that there's no ERT on Beast this season: http://www.visitkingsisland.com/season-passes/gold-and-platinum-pass-benefits
  24. According to the brochure on this site from the park's opening season (http://www.KICentral.com/history/ki1972/), the park's merchants did accept credit back then (BankAmericard (the predecessor to what eventually became Visa) being the "official" credit card of KI, with "most shops and stores" accepting "certain other major credit cards"). I'm guessing that it was simply easier for them to only accept cash/invoice payments, especially due to the large amounts of money they were dealing with ($150 [25 tickets at $6 each] in 1974 is equivalent to about $655 today).
  25. You're quite right about Great Wolf management/leadership not caring. The CEO is still saying this is a good deal for shareholders: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-21/great-wolf-chief-calls-703-million-apollo-deal-compelling-1-.html Interesting that she's saying "best overall bidder". That indicates that there were likely other offers that they aren't telling anyone about.
