  1. when Shockwave closes the coaster at NYNY will be the last Togo in the USA

...and the worst. And sadly the best.

I hate that ride. It is the only coaster I actually do despise. Off topic...according to RCDB it been renamed to Big Apple (it was still just Roller Coaster I believe when I was there last but I still just referred it to the original name)

Well..uh goodbye Shockwave? Never got to ride it...have ridden King Cobra though and didn't even like that.

  2. How far is KI from CP again? I know for us it took longer (little over 6 hours typically) because of the pit stop north of Columbus and we were towing the RVs then. My best guesstimate is 4 hours..?

Saw the OP modified his post.

Actually the distance from Cedar Point to Michigan's Adventure is 299.mi which is 4 hours 35 minutes

And the distance from Cedar Point to Kings Island is 206.5 mi which is 3 hours 34 minutes.

Depending on time of day does that include Columbus traffic? Just curious. Either way I was almost mostly correct with my guesstimate. Lol technically with that estimate I am almost 2 hours closer to CP now than I was as a kid in Mt Healthy which is south of KI. Oh well...still no desire of going back to CP anytime soon.

  3. Cedar Point is far closer to Michigan (and obviously well known). KI advertises and has tickets selling in Kentucky and parts of Indiana. I know whenever I go to SoCal I do not expect to see KI tickets. :P

I always thought Michigan's Adventure was actually closer to CP than KI is. KI and CP are several hours apart as there is around 300 (perhaps a bit more) miles between them.

  4. So, instead of having pity on the poor boats, we can celebrate their happy status as stars of the show! :)

I still hate seeing them like that.

I don't mind cars as props but I draw the line at RVs and boats. >_>

  5. Does the park even still offer season pass discount on the souvenir bottles? I wouldn't know, I been buying my bottles at Knott's last couple years and they honored the Platinum Pass. Yesterday at Tower Drinks I had my pass in hand and the employee refused it. Typically I don't really mess with any of the eateries at KI cause majority of my visits are usually extremely short but I do need a lot of water and I was there for several hours yesterday and figured why not? Just curious. That on top of the near constant inconsistencies I always tend to get out of their F&B dept.

On another note...the chicken wrap at Chicken Shack wasn't too bad. Felt like I had to pull teeth to just get the wrap by itself without the fries though (I HATE fries) cause the employees asked twice if I wanted the advertised combo meal instead.

  6.

It amazes me how many times I'll be asked if AE is The Racer(s) once they get to the station. How do these people miss the giant Adventure Express sign that they pass right under? And how do they not realize the ride is not racing at all?

If you think that is scary...I got a better one.

My last full season as an employee I approached this gentleman and his girlfriend over by Delirium when I saw him looking at the park map confused and then looking at Son of Beast, which was still operating, then he saw me (while he was pointing at SOB) "is that The Racer?"

I never could figure that out but then again I had someone ask for direction to Raptor while at KI several years before CF took over. (I thought he was referring to Reptar but nope...he was looking for Raptor)

Did you tell him to get in his car and driver several hours north to get to it?

Nah, I did explain he was at the wrong park though.

That would be the type of response you'd get out of a Knott's scare actor if you approach asking how to get to Splash Mountain. :P

  8. I don't understand why people wear flip flops to an amusement park anyway. My feet would be killing me, you can walk up to 10 miles plus in a day at a park. I wouldn't want to walk 10 miles in flip flops.

I don't understand why anyone wears them at all.

Faerie wench, who hates flip flops

  9. I assume this. I still remember trying to get through and order mine. Back then OSU had 12 minutes between classes. I don't know how many times I called in that 12 minutes, but the line was busy. My professor was just about to start class, and of course my last attempt was when I finally got through.

When did you try to order yours? I didn't even order mine until the day the final section of the lift hill was torn down and got through on the first try. o_o Up until then I actually had no intention of getting one. I hated riding it but I think watching the video of it coming down actually saddened me slightly knowing that was the end and it will never come back so I buckled and got it. We also got a couple bolts.

Wow...$200..my track didn't even cost that much straight from the park. I think they were being sold for close to a 100 even?

  10. Having just got home from Carowinds and reading this discussion, I ask the question.  For this type of ride vehicle (Is there a specific name for DBack, Behemoth, Fury 325, etc), the tallest HYPER in the U.S.A is 232 feet, Intimidator at Carowinds.  Carowinds has the tallest US Hyper and World's tallest Giga coaster, currently.  Why isn't Mako reaching for 250ft, 260ft or higher lift hill?  Correct me if I am wrong but is there anything between 232 and 305 in North America? That is a decent gap to fill. Is it money?  Is it space limitations?  Yeah, it will be a one of it's kind in the Orlando area, but like some have said, this is not a something some would go out of their way to ride.

Build a 255 footer and introduce some of Fury's banked turns, you would have a coaster to talk about.

Remember a lot of the GP are not enthusiasts (which are the parks targets in most cases) and do not know or care of the the existence of the other B&M hypers. The locals will have one now within reach. It's already got some people talking, and as much as I don't like coasters, I know this park been needing one and the fact they sticking to B&M is good.
