And this year they got a B&M giga...
-
Eiffel Tower, Carousel, or KI and MVR would be my 3 guesses for number 2.

Let's ride Diamondback below its minimum operating temperature!
-
I think if he could or wanted to say, he would have.

The Subway on Western Row is by far the worst Subway I've ever been in. I wouldn't eat there again if someone paid me. It was filthy, disgusting, and the AC didn't work.
-
^ Very realistic as well. I would trade Diamondback for Maverick.

I don't think shipping really has anything to do with how early track shows up, as does the quantity (footage) fo track. Shipping to Europe/Asia would be maybe an extra month AT THE MOST. If track is showing up earlier than usual, it is probably due to high demand.

I forgot about the cans we placed in The Crypt. Keep in mind the park has nearly 1000 cans with the parking lot and Soak City added in.
-
As someone who has experienced the wonderful-ness of putting away the cans and bringing them back out I can tell you a few things. Not sure about this year's procedure, but the year before they were split up and put away in their respective areas. 1) AZ was stored at Stunt Crew Grill 2) Coney was split between Racer station and FoF hanger. 3) Rivertown was placed in the Train Station. 4) Snoopy cans were placed in Snoopy Theatre. 5) IS Cans were placed under the IR. 6) Parking lot cans were placed under the IR as well. I can tell you right now it's a very time consuming and daunting task, they were all cleaned as well. Some of the cans that were put away during park operating hours were pulled across the areas or wheeled on dollys, after hours they used Pick-Up trucks and a large flat bed.

It's a mix of Vertigo and the type of coaster it is - inverted.

The Beach Closing after 27 Years
teenageninja replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm not sure what you're referring to as being an admissions booth near the train station. Having worked in Admissions for 10 years ('95-'04), 9 of those in management, and also having worked in WW for a little while my first year at the park (1989), we never had an admissions booth at the train station in that time. There was never a need for one since WaterWorks/Boomerang Bay was always included with park admission, so one was never built. If you are referring to the first building on the left just inside the train station entrance (across from the store and next to the food stand), that building was the original location of Guest Relations (which moved to the season pass entrance when that was added), and also housed (and still does) First Aid. It was not used for Admissions. Now, for those of you who are my friend on Facebook, forgive me for repeating below what I said there; there are others on here who haven't seen it. I'm not really surprised that The Beach is closing. Back in '96 when KI announced that they were adding a wavepool, I predicted that The Beach would only be open for another 5 years tops. I was about a decade early in that prediction. I guess it took KI adding a second wavepool, not to mention a new indoor waterpark in the immediate vicinity, to finally do it in. But my biggest question is, now where can I take an unexpected swim in the middle of winter when my paddleboat sinks? (http://www.KICentral...06) I was lumping Guest Relations as a part of Admissions. Should have been more clear. -
Soak City Construction Continues

Why is there no chance? It's the closest place to transport them. At least one. Actually I can pretty confidently say that they will not be purchased by Cedar Fair. I'd be willing to wager pretty heavily on that. -

I don't think this is as legistically taxing as you are all making it sound. There used to be an admissions booth right next to the train station, not saying that's what they'd do, but it's always an option. Cedar Point's Waterpark is completely disconnected, but the entrance is only about 100 yards away from the Magnum Entrance to the park. -

I was surprised that KI even included Soak City with admission this year. With that nice new entrance plaza, I'd look for it to be seperate admission in 2013. -

Absolutely no chance any of those slides make their way to KI. -
I think that the dumpster that stinks the worse is the one behind Coney Eats and Treats (whatever it changed it's name to, I don't remembr and I don't care). The one on I-Street festers pretty quick too.

^ With amazing people in it might I add.

/End Rant I understand that the Ellis and Associates training is considered to be much better and that is a good argument, but when is the last time that you heard of someone dying at The Beach? I do remember a child drowning at Great America in 2007, does anyone know if that is Red Cross or Ellis and Associates Training? I'm curious to see if there are any stats that back up the argument of RC vs. EaA. -
In my 6 seasons in the park (off and on) I worked in Food Service, Ride Operations, and Park Services. While Rides was a lot of fun and I made a lot of friends, Park Services was the better department for me. Every day was a little different and the jobs are much different than eachother, whereas Rides they are all pretty similar. As said before, working as a Ride Operator and working the control booth gets very repetitive at times.

Gold and Platinum Passholders Expanded ERT in 2012

I figured with the late April opening they would earn some of their operating days back in May. -
Perhaps Mr. Ouimet blew a tire out in one of the craters in the lot. Not only do they need to do the main lot, they need to do the employee lot as well.
-
I wonder how they will regulate the FreeStyle machine. It almost seems like they would have to do it at Rivertown Junction, otherwise, people are going to be sneaking refills all day.

Action Theatre's ridership was so low they had no reason to keep it running. Yeah, it still had riders, but it rarely ran full cycles aside from weekends. I can tell you for a fact when I worked there in '04 and they brought back DoT, it probably very few full cycles for the short time it was there.

Looks like the cat is finally out of the bag.
