KIC Radio will make its debut the week of Nov 15-21 with a very special guest, BoddaH1994, AKA Ryan Suhr, PR director of KICentral! This is your chance to ask Ryan any question that you have, Ryan has assured me he will not shy away from any question. Submit your questions to SOB_TOM. The final date will be announced in the coming weeks.
-
I have gotten some good questions to ask Ryan so far, keep the questions coming so I can compile the list. As stated before, Ryan is not afraid to answer any and all questions!
-
Just send your questions into me, that way Ryan won't be able to have any prepared statements about them, and we can get his first reaction to the question on podcast.
-
Personally, what I need from people from the site are questions to ask Ryan. I would hate for this to be "What does Tom want to ask Ryan?" because that would not serve what I envisioned for the podcast initially. So if you have questions for Ryan, PM them to me, and I will start getting a compiled list of questions to ask him.
-
Sure, I can handle the technical side no problem. Just send the questions my way via PM, and we can get this rolling! Ryan, get with me on a hard date for this.
-
I was thinking about something cool KIC could do and I think it would be really interesting to have some sort of podcast in which people can either call in or email in questions to ask KIC's frontman BoddaH. It would be interesting to hear about the inner workings of KIC and ask him anything they want to ask. Would there be any interest?

The mods on the board do a wonderful job all the way around, making key decisions in which topics to close, and which ones to keep open. It is not easy, and is mostly a thankless job, but they work hard to keep this a great site to visit time and time again.

This is stupid. I don't care if he was an off duty cop, or a regular person, if you go to a haunted house, expect to be scared, and the possibility to be followed out of the house. This guy should be fired, and have his concealed weapon permit revoked, along with the charges brought against him. This is one of the things that I don't like about working at a haunted house, the drunks. At Dent, we don't serve alcohol, so people get drunk, commit DUI driving to the house, then come in and act like fools. I am a firm believer that haunts should be allowed to do alcohol testing on patrons, and if they fail, they don't come in. Just my thoughts, not put into actual practice.

We all get those all the time from Terpy, but we still love him. My question is this: Was she riding alone, and therefor was the only one injured due to a "malfunction," or were there others on the ride who were injured as well by this "malfunction?" Oh no, did I just shoot a giant loop hole into the case? I'm sorry...
-
Thats rich Terpy! Not to mention that haunts are supposed to put you in the mindset that there is something else there that you cannot see. So the feeling that there is something there, it can be a lot mental. Now the Dent Schoolhouse, where I hide (backstage, long hallway with a bathroom at the end,) there have been several actors who reported seeing a woman standing next to the bathroom door. Before hearing about these, I have had those same experiences, and its definitely something that got my attention!

KINGS ISLAND SETTLES SOB CASE AFTER JURY LOSS
SOB_TOM replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
I'm calling B.S. on both statements from her. First off, she had nothing but dollar signs in her eyes ever since the accident. I bet you she could care less what happens to SOB. Secondly, three years of agony? If she was in that much pain, I almost guarantee that her doctors would have had her in the hospital admitted, because she would have something else wrong than a bum hip. To her I say this, get over it. Several thousands of people live with much worse than what you are explaining, and they live normal lives. Take my dad for one example. A bad hip, two bad knees, and he can't get the required treatment because the insurance company will not cover it till he is 55, so he has 5 more years of "pain and suffering." Does that stop him from doing his job? No. Does that stop him from enjoying life? No. He grins and bears it until he can get the treatment. I do not wish death upon anyone, nor accident. However, I almost guarantee that she is going to blow this money on pointless stuff, and then be trying to sue KI again in the future for more medical (I know I know she can't, but this is what I think will happen.) If she really wanted no one else to suffer from this ride, she would have immediately turned around and told KI to donate her "pain and suffering" money to a charity. -
I can tell you the glass blower who works in that shop is an incredibly nice guy too. Definitely something I like to do, go up there and watch him work. He is a true artist.

KINGS ISLAND TRIAL updates and discussion
SOB_TOM replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Shark, the stanky leg is a dance move. Also, realize that this woman is suing under the pretense that her injury is causing her not to be able to perform everyday tasks (thus, the pain and suffering part.) What KI proved with that video is that her hip is not acting as though it needs a transplant. Example: My father is in dire need of a hip transplant, but is inelegible for one for another 5 years. He has to walk around with a cane, cannot stand on one leg, and struggles getting out of chairs, up stairs, into cars, and carrying things. The video KI showed proves that this woman is exaggerating her injuries. Even I can make myself seem like I am in pain on cue, so her being examined means nothing to me. Also, the testimony from KI's other witness is to dispute the claim that she is having difficulties at her part time job at Campbells Soup Factory. By bringing in an expert at determining when someone is ready to return to work, and having that person dispute the fact that she cannot keep her job, again its forcing the jury to see that she is exaggerating her injuries. One more point, you cannot predict the future when it comes to joints. I have a 25% arthritic knee at age of 24, and I know eventually I will need a knee replacement, however my doc could not give me a date, or how long I would need between replacements. So this woman saying "I have to have 3 in my lifetime," is a bunch of bull. If I was on the jury, I would award her for initial cost for the hospital not to exceed $50,000 in medical (which she would have to produce all records for,) and that would be it. Then I would see if the judge could rule that the jury gets $12,000 to split evenly for listening to this woman and her lawyer tell stories in court. -

Didn't RCCA go bankrupt because of that suit?, and didn't that suit only net roughly $200K? -

With thinking like that, it is the end of the second coaster age..... How, prytell, can you prevent *freak* accidents like this one from occurring? This is a one in a million chance, it just happened at our park. -
KINGS ISLAND TRIAL updates and discussion

Here is what I don't understand about the debate: Her claims of needing these hip replacements are based on KI's inability to safely maintain the ride. Since KI followed OSHA and state regulations when performing the maintenance checks, and have the sheets to prove it, this suit has no merit. You have to realize that we are looking into this WAY too much. Based on the wording of the suit, she does NOT have a leg to stand on. KI backs up the maintenance work by cataloging every days maintenance sheet and saving them for seven years, as well as supporting evidence from the state of Ohio stating the beam in question failed from the inside out, and therefor would not have been picked up on maintenance checks. *NOTE!* This is based on what the woman is claiming. Now, looking a little deeper, I believe that area was retracked that year, and therefor the beam was replaced, however again, it has stability issues from the inside out. No way to check for those (unless you ultrasound each individual beam.) This is also something that the lumberyard would not notice, and would go all the way back to the sawmill, where the beam did not have a destination. And let me ask this question in response to an earlier post: What you stated was that the maintenance practices at theme parks within the state of Ohio are not up to standards due to this incident. It is easy to point out problems, however, solutions are normally hard to come by. What is yours? Ultrasound every beam of a coaster every day? Every month? Once a year, like it is done already? BTW, I have a feeling the fate of the ride has already been decided..... -
KINGS ISLAND TRIAL updates and discussion

According to the article, she is suing due to faulty mechanical practices by the park. I am taking the attorney at exactly what he said here, but he is not suing over the building, he is suing over the fact that Kings Island "Does not properly inspect their rides." (paraphrasing) Knowing exactly how Kings Island inspects their rides, and remembering what happened to the broken beams (inner cracking of the wood causing the beam to break,) how exactly was Kings Island supposed to catch the incident beforehand? The state of Ohio requires a thorough *sight* evaluation every morning, not ultrasound on every beam. If that were the case, then no coaster would be ready to open by 10, even if the checks started at close the night previous. I say this court case is thrown out in its early stages. All KI has to do is plop down the last 7 years of maintenance records (and yes, they have every single one signed by a maintenance worker AND a ride operator,) showing that the ride was inspected every single day, and the case is done. Too bad she didn't take the settlement money ahead of time..... -
I honestly think mine would be Adventure Express. Because its a people eater, and normally has short lines, I normally ride this thing at least 5 times each trip, compared to 1-2 on any other coaster.
-
The best that I have ever heard outside of KI was at The Dent Schoolhouse. "S**t dude! Don't scare me like that!" - guy going through the house.
-
If I may recommend the Dent Schoolhouse, which is up for the "Best 13 haunted houses in America" award this year. Harrison Road, I guarantee that you will have a frightenly good time!
-
Strickers is definitely an interesting park, and I think everyone should go to it at least once. I have yet to go and not have fun, whether it be on the rides or with the random people you bump into...
-
I was just curious, cause if I was at the park, I finally figured out how to be in two places at once! Now how to use this power of mine....
-
Ironically, I don't read a lot of trip reports, but is there someone going around pretending to be me? I'm flattered..... Wait, how did he/I act?
