Actually, from what Ive heard, ride ops are not allowed on the saucer. Probabily due to the fact that there are no tie off points, and that its probabily made of particle board. And back in 2003, we went "Tomb Raiding" every night to get the garbage that guests threw down there.

HOWEVER, the onboard sound system and headlights, whoever told you that the park gave up on it is a complete and total moron because none of his information is right. I would like to reply to the whole revamp of maintenance, especially my dept (games maintenance). WE get calls and respond to them in order. These calls are everything from people needing batteries (which, BTW is NOT OURS BUT THE GAMES KIDS!) to a game losing power because of a faulty power supply which takes about a freakin hour to replace. If we dont get to you until an hour later, tough. The rest of the departments work the same way, unless its a ride situation, where break downs are ahead of just running problems. So, unless you can think of a better way of doing maintenance, I suggest you shut up and quit bashing on my department, cause I will not hesitate to bash back. Lucky for you, I have to watch what I post because I am in the know. P.S. If you doubt my information, look at my sig. And for those of you who still think they are above what I know INSIDE MY OWN SHOP go bite me. Cause you probabily dont.

But the theming is for kids to know, not adults. Look people, as good as memories are to maintain, its even better to make new memories with your kids.
-
Ummm, thats not what is broken first off. Second, let me hit a few rides that are "falling apart": Express: Modifications have been made over the last two offseasons to that ride to make it sound almost as good as TRTR. FOF: Except for the vandalism on that ride, really the theming has not gone down at all. Minus of course the modified video. So stop throwing stuff on top of the saucer and we will be alright. IJST: Dont get me started on this POS. Maybe if the origional installers actually did their job (outside contractors BTW)..... NU: Its a kiddie area. Not many kiddie rides are perminently installed anyway, so whats the beef? TRTR: Expense. Lets just say that the companies decided to use the "top of the line" Grade A cr*p on that ride. So basically to get a basic effect to work, the park needs to spend 5k for the part. Im done ranting now. Time to go back to my hole.

Wooferbear, The entire point of the employee room is because there are certain topics that can be perceived two different ways: The employee way and the GP way. A good example is this: What is your favorite ride pairing? The employee would know that the topic is what ride pairing do you like to work, like the SOB/GUN pairing, or DZ/DOT pairing. The GP would think it meant what are your two favorite rides are. Plus occasionally people ask about shifts to be covered.

More feasable than P&G buying it. Why would P&G go outside the market they are in and take this big of a leap? Use your heads people!

Riders Needed Thursday Morning!
SOB_TOM replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I made a reservation, but havent heard back yet. -
Landscaping!? Hell, bring em down to my shop. We will show em some cool stuff. But no, we are the red-headed stepchildren of maintenance.

Wow. Guys bored already? The season just opened!

Let me ask a question: Paramount is selling the parks. Do you really think they care about what the parks look like anymore? Plus, if you knew where all the money was really going, you would understand that the park is pushing it for maintenance budget. So its not that the park doesnt care, its that theres too much to work on right now. Things will eventually calm down, and will go back to normal. P.S. What was HB before it was torn out, and NU was put in? A bunch of carnie rides minus Ghoster Coaster. That was basically just a really stupid comment.

Email Newsletter from Wrong Park causes Confusion
SOB_TOM replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Kings Island
It happens. How many times have you sent out an IM to a wrong individual? Probabily just clicked the wrong button. -
The actors on those shows are replaceable, but the cartoon characters are not. Its easier to have a ride about a show thats not on anymore rather than retheme an entire ride again.

NOOOOO! I thought they got rid of the freaking water maze!? And now it has my nemesis on the front where the geyser was!? My life has offically gone down the toilet. And I thought it was bad during Basic Training and Tech School.

Use your heads for a minute (I know, Im stretching out on a limb for once.) WinterFest happened, a major construction happened, and you still had regular maintenance. OH WAIT! Winterfest, because of where it was in the offseason, took up almost half the regular offseason to do maintenance. OH WAIT! With major construction, most of the other staff were working on it to get it up and running. Add this to other things that have happened inside the park (nothing bad, trust me, but rides people should know what Im talking about) and it equals that the park might not be 100% on opening day. Plus, its not often that a major theme park opens without major problems. Its just how many problems and how many guests complain about it. Dont worry though folks, SOB_TOM will be back at the grindstone around May 1st.

Why does the park need to release what is happening on each of its rides? Possibly this is a minor issue and they are awaiting parts. Nothing spectactular.
-
If only people knew the entire story.....
-
Just look at your source of information, and that should say it all. I will wait for the park to come out and say it.

Other than personal feelings about some people involved with BeastBuzz, and the website therein, I would like to go, but I will most likely be working behind the scenes anyway. Plus I made my appearance in a maintenance truck last year at Beast, almost running down the majority of Buzzers, so those of you who were there should remember that.

Ummmm, ninja, if you claim to know the most about that ride from the rides dept, then you are probabily the 6-7th most knowledgeable person. You forgot Steve, me, Cory, Don, Matt, ect. The technology is such as this: A mainframe computer has a seat program set on it to send to 32 control units for each individual seat. This computer is also in charge of sending out start commands for the two projectors, one for left eye and one for the right eye, the DTS (digital theatre sound) system to start reading the sound code off of the film, and the start commands for the seats. All seat movements are controlled by a single "digital" seat, loaded onto the computer. This cuts down on the chances that the seats get out of sync from each other to 0. When the operators hit the start buttons, the projectors fire up, the sound system reads the code, and the seats start to "watch" the digital seat program. Thats it in laymans terms.

Ummmm, lets compare Magic of the movies and School of Rock, Toy Factory. Thats what I thought. The quality of the shows has drastically improved over previous years. The managers in charge of the shows are competent enough to run their own shows, and that competency shows everytime the performers take the stage.

Trust me, on this podcast, there will be new information. Plus with the parks being sold, it has opened up a new door for information. Now to find it.....

You might see a decline in show quality. PKI was just getting around to giving more money to the Entertainment dept so that they can have A rated shows. You cant really use BB construction as an arguement against another theme park that built their waterpark from the ground up. BB was just an expansion, not a full scale waterpark construction. If you look at what PKI built completely new in that expansion, it was only the center fountain, a bar, and Taz. Coolengata was nothing more than a retrofit off of an existing ride, and everything else was just new signing. So really, 2 million is right. Its not like the origonal build of WaterWorks. I agree with Shaggy on this one. In the interest of making money, which investment groups are into, they are going to look for every chance to shave money off of the top, save it for later, and sell to the highest bidder.
-
All I know is that when Ryan and I played, Ryan bought the bank. Also, watch out for the Top Gun: The Jet Coaster card.
-
Its possible that PKI will get a new coaster next year, HOWEVER dont forget that whats left is being redone to the Nick theme, minus a key attraction or two.

Or you could ask the right people.....
