On a flat ride like this, when they post the "ride cycle" as 3 minutes, does that mean from when it starts to move until it stops? If that's the case it seems like not a lot of time will be spent spinning up top.
From what I remember reading, the ride will take 1 minute to ascend, 1 minute spinning on top, and 1 descending. I'm not sure if this is will remain true though.
Well watch the CW WindSeeker run and if you time how it runs now that seems to be the answer. It seems to take longer on way down but think that is now just because they have just started running it. Like all rides, it will get tweaked as they learn and use it more. But I do not expect more than 1 min on top. It is a pretty big arc so it may seem slow but think it is moving faster than
you think.

Well it appears that CP has their WS in test mode now.
Cams show what appear to be in a spin cycle.
They were working on it quite a bit during CM this weekend.
If CW has theirs going maybe all will be up soon!

Same here, we were at Coaster Mania from Friday till today. As far as Cedar Points WindSeeeker it look like Kings Island WindSeeeker with the same type of work in progress. It did go up and down a bit over Friday and Saturday and at one point while we were watching All Wheels Extreme show yesterday WindSeeker did spin around at a decent speed but only about 30 feet off the ground. Shortly after that not much more than the usually work scene we have all grown accustom to.
I did like Cedar Points WindSeeker location a lot. It will give great views of the lake and while sitting on the edge of the amusement park border it will allow a great view of the park with out too much need to look straight down.
Yes we will be back again at CP later this year (with Platinum Pass) and hope to ride it then.
It will by far be the best with views. Finally rode power tower down this year and view
at top will be similar and is great.
-
Not sure what's happening down there, but CP's has been testing at full throttle today.
We were at Coastermania there Fri/Sat and the only thing we saw was workers on it late friday night.
When did you see it going?
BTW, Coastermania was great as usual!

yeah it is the same marketing speil you get from how tall buildings are. It is 800 ft tall after a 100 ft antenna on top of a 10 foot concrete block.....
I agree no biggie, the 300 ft is what sells it

I am sure once they get it worked out it will be a fun time!
Well still wondering why they built all at once.
I was wondering if they ordered the one for CP and then got a deal on four.
So decided what the heck and put them in the other parks.
It just seems with the delay/confusion at Knotts that the location and such was last minute.
Not for sure of this but would be curious to hear what is known about the multi ride deal.
It might have been a good deal but then build one and test it out for a year then build the others.
Remember Stealth when they built it in CA and then ran and tested it for a year in the park before even
opening the ride. Not saying they need a year but same idea. Build/Test/Fix then build more.

As for the gift shop, what if they are trying to stay with a theme? Think about it this way: An actual building would not give the illusion of trying to track down dinosaurs, but a tent gives the illusion of a "base camp" of sorts: One that can pack up and be transported to the next spot as the animals naturally migrate.
Nah, temp attraction with a rental tent....
For more realistic it would be camoflauge and such.
-
So will this ride be Extinct before it even opens?
Wow self combustible dinos.
Now I might pay $5 to see this!
Hmm not a good start to the year.

On the webcam at 8:45 and there is a fire in the woods behind FOF and maintenance bldg.
Putting up a lot of black smoke and not a very small fire.
Anyone heard what happened?

I just saw pictures of the WindSeeker in Canada and they recently added dampers to the arms.
Ideas are to keep it from excessive swaying. Any idea if those will be on any of the other ones?
Do they have higher winds there and would CP not be one that would need it if it is an issue due
to the location there?
-
Just curious about the 4th WindSeeker at Knotts.
We have heard a lot about the other 3 but how iis that one doing?
-
That arm will not come loose.
Something tells me that they can not say that to an insurance company.
You always prepare for something like that with a backup.
It wont happen it does. That ride in China where the car came off and went flying......
Also, do you think this ride will be the full 3 minutes.
I have watched the CW version testing and it was a 2 min video and I do agree it might be a little more in time but not much.
This will have a very long slow line since it is single threaded. So 3 min ride, 1 minute load, 1 min unload...... not sure aboui that.
-
Just curious, what is the backup for if the connection at top does come loose?
Is there a cable attached to the arm as well?

Thought some of you may be interested to know that, while at the Point the past 2 days, WindSeeker is coming to life. Rotating and traveling half-way up the tower. Curiously, no sign of lights yet, however. That said, it is coming to life.
Yet I have heard they are having electrical issues and doing a re-wiring.
-
Well looking at some pics online it was noted it will be a giftshop......
-
I really think this will be a huge hit, hopefully profitable enough to finance an inverted B&M and a twisty GCI or GG woodie (and a re-profiled and rideable SOB (with the loop(dreaming, I know))).
Let's hope. You gotta admit having a tent for the front entrance isn't exactly a vote of confidence for a long run. Maybe it's there just to provide a big "reveal" on opening day.
According to picture 3 on the link provided, it is a gift shop. Still shows signs of here today, gone next year.
And hope it can stand some windy days or there will be merchandise all over the place.
So from all the pics I still do not see a trail. Will it be paved/easy access? What about strollers/wheelcharis?
-
Part of Coney, the entrance plaza to DA has a tent up! Wonder if this is for final construction or will be "permanent"
My guess is this is the ticket selling area.
-
It is all the way up but does not appear to be rotating.
Maybe just testing up and down procedure now.
-
Well watching the Fox19 time lapse cam this morning and notice a crane on site and doing something about 1/3 the way up on the tower.
Could support the theory of technical issues or not. So are they waiting on State Inspection before they can test it?
-
yeah they had their tower built before KI even started theirs.
I thought back then that maybe CW was going to be the first to open.
-
After seeing the CW WindSeeker in test mode, they are way ahead of others.
I still expect them to be first but maybe not due to CP/Ohio is the homestead.
-
Well was thinking about KI today and wondered if they were open tonight.
Wow they are now open on Friday's 10 - 10.
Checked the site web cams and it is dead there.
Wish I could be there and get a ride fest going.
Well maybe take a 1/2 day next week.
-
So it appears that WindSeeker has sat non-running for a week or so now.
Do they first test it here and then call in the inspector or what?
I agree from this viewpoint it will be a bit until it is running.
I know that CP is moving along but will miss their opening as well.
Wonder if Canada's Wonderland will be first. They have been way ahead.
Would/Could they be the first park?
-
Now they have Diamondback Cam, Front Gate Cam and new the Fox 19 Cam on the web cam page.
So guess we only get to see a long distance shot of WindSeeker now.

Does anyone know of a book version of this or any others on the history of Kings Island?
There are great books on other parks but none on KI that I know of.
