The official answer from the official man in an email to me:
There will not be a walk back to The Beast this season for members of an accredited roller coaster club/organization. Gold and Platinum pass holders will have early access on Diamondback every public operating day, as well as another major roller coaster. Coaster club members that do not have a Gold or Platinum pass will be able to participate in the early rides on Diamondback and second coaster by showing their valid membership card.
Sincerely,
Don Helbig

MikeJenkins1, this year, if you have a Gold or Platinum pass and are a member of a card issuing coaster club, you will be allowed to participate in the pass holder early ride time. If you are not a pass holder (like mentioned above), then you will be able to show your membership cards to participate in the early ride time. The early ride time will be on Diamondback, but could also feature another ride. The exact details of the times and what other rides, if any, that will be offered has not been released yet. The old way of being escorted and the first to line up for The Beast or other rides is essentially now gone. You will be participating with the pass holders` early ride time. Which is better than just standing in a line waiting for the ride to start at 10, right?
So the exclusive walk back days (ACE card carrying member) are gone?
There will not be a Coaster Geek ride time prior to Gold/Platinum ride time? Just wonder since that means it would
essentially be packed now instead of just a few.

I have been an ACE member for MANY years and we have used the ACE (or other club) walkback for years. Last year was really great many times as my sons and I (and an occasional friend of the kids) were the only ones there for the walkback. We once got 3 laps on Beast before the park even opened. I am not sure what the mention of Gold/Platinum passes has to do with anything. It was only for coaster club members before so what does a Gold/Platinum pass help out? My question for this year and it appears so, is can we choose Diamondback over Beast or do we now get one on both? If the later one then this is especially sweet.

Wow! 2 guys are ascending the first lift hill for some kind of inspection/track work.
That must be cold on a day like today.
-
Will the ACE walkback include Diamondback as an option?
-
Yeah and I just noticed that Clifford is on the prowl again. They have it behind Crypt and I would guess getting ready to work drop #2.
-
Happened to be watching at the same time. Did they carry it under the track or around on the path I wonder?

very quiet day on the site

This might be a dumb question but it's bugging the heck out of me. In this picture:
http://www.KICentral.com/photos/displayima...m=278&pos=2
the track piece is connected to another dark red piece before attaching to the support. I thought the track bolted directly to the support. Does anyone know what the reason for this is. Its really bothering me.
My guess is that piece in between is an adjuster piece. Just in case the track did not meet up they can fenagle it with that attachment piece.

Not much lifting going on in the webcams today so far. Seems to be a lot of work around the station and they have 3 different lifts around the crypt. Clifford is out of sight and I think the smaller crane is back from the HammerHead, but has been sitting most of the day.
I believe I have seen more than one smaller crane.
-
no, saw it moving around earlier this morning. Also seem to note that there are 2 smaller white cranes out there.
One in the back and one where they have been working.

My daughter was at KI Sunday afternoon when the storm hit. They were on BLSC when they heard the crash of a tree going down. After that the park was closed for the day. Anyone have any news/pics of this or know of any other damage the park may have sustained?
-
Anyone have a picture of the station for Behemoth? Curious how steep the incline out of the station for that riide is.
-
Agree, this baby will go up fast. Those steel workers know the magic and it does not appear to be a very difficult build. Just wanting to see good vertical work being done.
-
From watching the cam, I would say they are still doing work on footer/footings and such.
They are also working the final brake run/station area.
Where is all the track? Still at the plant or still being made?
When will we see tons of track on site? When will the steel guys come in and bang this baby out?

As far as track color see rcdb.com: http://www.rcdb.com/ig72.htm
Purple then blue

As an earlier poster stated, how about a picture. Since your manager does not care it should be ok, right.
Have you opened a box and physically looked at the shirts and seen both sides. Maybe it is a kiddie type shirt
as someone else mentioned. We need a little more proof.....

Can you post a new itinerary? And make sure it includes the 2009 walkback and the Scavenger Hunt.
-
Did anyone read on Screamscape about a possible renaming of the Fairly Odd Coaster to GrandSon of Beast?
-
any pictures?
-
Well that area on the platform of The Beast (little box area) used to be the DJ area back in the 80's.
So with the retro thing in play, why not bring it back for the night time runs?

Wow. I would have to say the First Drop article is almost right on still. Even the talk about the terrain and the valleys used for the first drops. Would put lots of money on that reliable source.

Went to Coastermania this year and the belt issue was a non-issue. I have had troubles in past but not this year.
They would even help out on MF and TTD which they would not do in past. And the issue of the orange seciton that
must be showing seemed to be gone as well. It was click, slight pull, bar down and go.

Anyone know if KI would consider starting a new area of the park? Open up some land in the old safari area or is that area off limits? It would be nice to see them expand a little bit. As I have said in past, I would love to see a Lost KI area like the Lost Kennywood area. Put in some regened flats from the past and such.......

I wonder why they have not put a plastic wrap around the top section like they did on the bottom when the concrete was poured.
It would at least keep some of the elements out and let them work in a little nicer environment.
