  1. CoasterForce and TPR's POV videos uploaded on May 4th and 6th seem to support what you've said.. and then JamesC's (probably unapproved) POV is in Nov and the full stop happened.
  2. When marketing is needed, the pros can get creative and be more specific in what record is broken. Williamsburg is home to the World's TALLEST INVERTED (full-circuit) ROLLER COASTER! Did you know the Diamondback was the first B&M hyper coaster to have their new stadium-style seating? (In the US) -- Cedar Point and Kings Island have the highest attendance numbers in America in 2014 (outside of Florida and California).
  3. Definitely new paint. We can start to make some brand new black streaks from the fire! Glad to see it got some attention finally, even though thats one of the few things that fit the theme more and more the longer it went neglected.[emoji14]The fire gives it an immersive look naturally over time.
  4. Does traffic in the area typically foow the speed limit strictly? Or do they typicall do up to 5mph over? 10mph over as the real limit? Probably better just gauge how everyone else is driving, and drive as fast as most, but slower than some.
  5. In my heart, it stopped operating after the initial accident
  6. I rode early 2015 and it didnt use the MCBR.They seem to flip back and forth whether it is let go at full speed, if it's trimmed, or if it gets a full stop. I havent figured out what warrants a full stop, but unless a worker on the ride or the park releases a statement, I am skeptical to believe that the full stop at the MCBR is how the ride is intended to be experienced indefinitely. I've ridden many times, and some visits it brakes, most visits it hasnt. Last year it didnt (for me) Different strokes!
  7. If you can handle it... it's way better than Beast! Especially now that 2012 has been redeemed. That was a rough year. (Just a little light teasing) Talk about a jam packed, and long lasting ride. It's got the terrain, tunnels, actual airtime, laterals, trees.. oh and no trims.[emoji14] Beast has a better story, reaaaallly good for its time. Still fun to this day!
  8. Haha who knows it's kind of hard to see clearly at all
  9. I think you guys that are seeing a tree, a ginormous tree, or a tower, just really wish there was something there.
  10. If it adds to the experience in a memorable way, like all well done effects do, then yes, even the GP notice. Boo Blasters short-lived fog projection being something that I think even GP patrons would be able to notice. (duh)
  11. Do coasters like Outlaw Run count as being 3/4 wooden?Since the track half is half wood half steel?
  12. As a lover of thematic effects. Yes, whenever fiscally/ physically possible. Effects make a HUGE difference in ride experience. (and live show experience) Just looking at very few, recent-ish examples.. ~ Tomb Raider: The Ride - There's a topic on here recently discussing just why this ride was amazing, and though it was physically thrilling, it wasn't the forces that brought it to the headline. ~ Italian Job Stunt Track - As it was named then, it had a soundtrack to go along with the story of the ride, is used (still) fire for simulation of explosions, but has lost the water cannons to simulate explosion. Since the name change and brand change, its only improvement was using lighted dots to simulate the ricochet of bullets. ~ The Beast - While not a special effect, people absolutely adore the ride at night. It's because of the immersion of being in the trees and flying in the dark, your senses aren't used to this. This is what special effects allow to happen, only at all hours of the day; not just when the sun sets. People love it even more with the Halloween Haunt fog. (Diamondback) ~ WindSeeker - the choice to not just have lights, but a light sequence package on WindSeeker(s) made the ride all the more popular to an otherwise mundane and pointless journey. The music also helps set the rider in a relaxing, but epic journey to view the park high above. This is just the recent things at only Kings Island. I won't even dive into the parks that make it their company policy (almost) to adopt special effect techniques.. Sometimes there are failures.. (Yeti animitronic) but when it is done well and done right.. it is unbelievably satisfying. Sorry, Dr. Pepper..
  13. Same! I'll need to take a route down mid-april but I know many of you have plans to get down there on opening day so for your sakes (first) hopefully resolution is only a short while away!
  14. According to Google Maps, the route that's the fastest, which uses the detour barely west of I-75, described by the article, is only under 5 hours long. I dont remember, but I seem to remember Dollywood being around 5 hours away from me anyways. Will this detour actually add on a lot of driving time? What if one took 25W southbound and reconnected to I-75 at the 134 mile marker of I-75?
  15. I wish Rougarou was a different color scheme, now that this ride is here. But Im glad a CP is finally gonna have a Dive coaster! Maybe one can make its way to a park not so much at the mercy of high winds.
  16. HUSS-ever company it is can say how it should be.. but it will still probably be mispronounced. It's also all caps btw
  17. They were also built before the technology was a recognizable option for coasters
  18. Parks, I assume rarely do so alone. It's a team effort between the client and the manufacturer. In other words, doesn't anyone else feel very So Cal whenever they talk about Arrow pioneering the TUBULAR track design??
  19. It has been announced T3 will have a second train this year, no?Either way, I think that will be my first ride of my first visit to Kentucky Kingdom since it has been said to be slow moving and since Storm Chaser will be a long line either way.
  20. If you remember your email, you have an option below the login bars to have your password reset and sent to your email address
  21. Oh my I didn't even consider what my first coaster will be! It'll be at Dollywood, I know that much! To stay on topic, I don't mind the music or the announcement on the lift hills. I hardly pay attention to them anymore after riding for so many years
  22. Only if you planned on going to several Cedar Fair parks already. It is not a deal, if the "deal" urges you to do something else; only if it was already a part of your intended plan.
