Cedar Point 2016 Talk
calakapepe replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
For the record, I had a moment of idiocy. Though I obviously know that water goes downhill.. didn't need that remark. -
Don't you jinx my Vortex.. not.. yet.. I'd still rather GOOD FUN and/ or thrilling flats be added in the usually vacant cement slab across from Shake Rattle and Roll (which by the way is already acting weird after an off season of renovations), and also a couple out and around the brakes for Diamondback and around the back end of Backlot Stunt Track. But... if we were getting a woodie or a giga.. I would expect Cedar Fair to input a giga before a woodie.. I'd rather have a woodie though; a fun modern one, finally.

Lake Erie is down stream from Niagara Falls. It might be more so exquisite if Lake Erie weren't as highly elevated. Oopsie, I would have sworn the falls ran into Erie. But I looked at a map. My mistake. -
Cedar Point 2016 Talk

What's crazy is that the water level of Lake Erie is approximately 570' above sea level. -
Technically all 3 could fit in that final run of track as long as that roof is.. but Im not sure if it's blocked in a way that a train could be stopped in the station, right behing the station, and right behind it. And block sections are where the train should be able to make an e-stop. None of the locations mentioned were for full stops, just for trims, if I've come to understand how blocked sections are supposed to work.

Surviving remnants of "Old Coney"
calakapepe replied to HarvestmanMan's topic in Coney Island Central
To be semi-related? Our Coney was the only Coney Island amuesment park correct? When people think of Luna Park as Coney Island.. they are actually thinking about the neighborhood/ Beach, Coney Island which had a park on its beachfront.. is that correct? Or did Luna Park of Brooklyn used to be called Coney Island? As far as the park name goes* -
There are many examples but you are forgetting Thunderbird at Holiday World.. or Hyena Falls... also at Holiday World! (Crow's nest is the only other ride by Thunderbird, and that was merely moved there, it wasn't originally placed there.

It would be nice for there to be other attractions on the way to The Bat. Some food stands, maybe a flat or some very, eye-catching landscaping like is present in many other areas of the park like the smoking-sections, outside the Backlot bathrooms.. However, as nice as it'd be, it would be pretty difficult with the terrain being how it is and the service road cutting across like it is.. The Bat was and will forever, I think, be a lone coaster as long as it resides with us.

Kings Island overall food concession experience 2015
calakapepe replied to Tr0y's topic in Kings Island
I went yesterday (Sunday) and me and 1 other, only ever wanted the free water cups that day. Both times we had to wait a good 15-20 minutes from around 8-10 people in front of us (about the same behind us). When we finally had someone available to help us, we waited just a tick for the girl to refill the receipt paper, and then she didn't even talk to say something like ,"Alrighty, can I help you?"... No. Finished her last task, stood there, no emotion, stared at each of us for a couple seconds till one of us understood and asked for some water.. She was moving like she hated every customer. Very weird, then on the other hand, went last week, had to get water 2-3 times through our day, and we had great service. I may not always pay for food or drinks, but I at least don't want to feel unwelcome. I've worked in food before at a restaurant and I don't care how tired you are, if you are able to still do your work, you at least gotta act like a normal human being, it's a part of the job.. Act like you're trying, you don't even have to smile. -
A Gravity Group coaster would be a big hit at Coney.. But, wouldn't the chance of flood be a reason not to build wooden there anymore? And why a fairly cheap steel coaster is the only one currently there? Though, if we could dream, one of The Gravity Group's mini-woodies would be a blast to have at Coney. Obviously not intertwined with a bunch of other coasters, but something of this caliber would be a dream come true.. if nature would allow it.

It's amazing! And Haunt Friday's are the best Haunt days to go if you can manage a long work day followed by a long, but fun-filled evening
-
And when you consider how much of a trial it really was to build a coaster back then (not that long ago, even) It makes rides such as The Beast and others mentioned THAT much more impressive to have them be what they are/ were.

Oooh. Now I gotcha.. Six Flags is at the forefront of new-age "woodies" and hybrids, I suppose. Only one non-Six Flags park with RMC coasters until 2016 hits. -

Which I do plan to ride but lone or not, it was still a wooden coaster that was built not using traditional techniques..For the record, Intamin refers to themselves as "Intamin" even on their own website, despite the logo being all caps; either's fine, sí? -

I am not sure.. but I should go ride an RMC or an Intamin Prefab before I decide if I would even be upset about that. -

I do hope that, after seeing what kind of dark rides have been arriving at Cedar Fair parks, that we get one that doesn't just have blaster guns. I'd rather be entertained, I'm not so interested in shooting targets anymore. But that's just me. -
Shoot. I didnt see this last night somehow. Would've been cool
-
It's much better than Cedar Point's from the multiple items I've tasted.
-
I did not notice, but I will take note of it this coming weekend as me and my riding partner finally ride FOF together
-
Thatd be a much welcomed "addition" for the next season. Refurbishment will be done to increase the ride capacity of Flight of Fear and Firehawk.. Easier said than done at this point though EDIT- I didn't double post, someone's post seems to have disappeared.
-
I often assumed parks did that sort of thing (taking a train car, reducing operations an entire train) so that they can save some money and use it as parts.
-
Yeah.. idk, but I'm definitely jealous of the lack of a MCBR for the clones. That's what has always landed Flight of Fear to not be one of my favorite rides.. because, you aren't just slowed and trimmed... like.. you STOP.. then you can feel the ride going too slow for what was designed as you always feel a force towards the inside of a turn.
