What's always amazing to me is how the original Coney Mall, at Cincinnati's Coney Island, was essentially only about 3/4 of the length of the current Coney Mall at KI.  It was wider, of course, but for those that went to CCI and then went to KI when it opened, it had to seem huge.  I've always wanted to take the time to try and do one of those "overlays" to actually see how they measure up.

KI Coney Mall is not much longer than the original.

  2. So is Oktoberfest no more?
Is Festhaus still going to be “Festhaus”?
    What about the glockenspiel?

Festhaus and Viking Fury will still be there and themed to Octoberfest from what I have heard. I’m excited for the additions but would have been happier if they would have kept it all Octoberfest.

I’d be shocked if it were year round. Dominion and Carowinds advertised year round ride op positions. Nothing like this out of KI.

Plus, the weather is quite a bit more cold here in the winter.

    Here are the data:

KD's Calendar is already updated, Open every weekend in Jan, Feb, and Mar.

  4. Well it appears they are trying to hire year round restaurant staff. Maybe they are going to try year round operations.6A39BE28-4209-4F3F-8CB9-BB538E9B2717.thumb.png.c2fba9429d10b88ad150b8bd1a7bcae3.png

I have a gut feeling that IR may reopen and be year round. A way to generate some off season profits. Maybe even just IS opening for food and shopping??? But I think some changes are coming from what I’ve been witnessing.

  5. Since this policy is not unique to KI, I conjecture that Cedar Fair had legal aspects looked into before implementing this, and probably modeled this on policy by other venues that host events with a large attendance.
As I have said before, infusion sets, CGMs etc. are not emergencies.  Hypoglycemia, if untreated will be.  That is why it's incumbent to carry glucose tabs.  If one it to go low, treat with them and if not resolved, leave the line and go get something to eat at one of the many eateries/drinks stands that would love to serve you.
Again, I can't speak for the park, but I would think they would be reasonable.  Perhaps with a visit to GS or FA, arrangements could be made for a vehicular transport to a person's vehicle to get the infusion set, after both the initial set comes off, then the replacement that fits in the bag guidelines.  Or the glucose tabs after all the tubes that fit in pockets have been exhausted.
But I have never had to use glucose tabs at the park.  And my CGM stayed intact, and back when I used a pump, I never had a need to replace my infusion set.
And then again, if someone with a medical condition required a rolling suitcase full of supplies, they can enter the park before 6pm without being affected.  Or, with the cooler weather, wear a jacket that has numerous zippered pockets after 6 pm.
I'd be curious to know what you consider is the standard amount of supplies many T1Ds carry.

So what happens when you go to such food or drink stand and it’s a mile long line as usual on a busy night???

Here's an idea I came up with. This is a B&M surf coaster with the sit down lapbar trains that I believe were filed last year. This could work with the stand up, but I believe it would be more comfortable with the sit down lapbar. It replaces Congo and Invertigo and reuses Congo's queue and station as the new coaster's queue kinda like how Maverick used WWL's station and queue. It also would result in an update to the front gate area and a rethemed Action Zone into something like Jungle X-pedition, but more dark foresty to fit Banshee and Bat. I give you Cobra Strike (a nod to King Cobra).

I don't see any rides coming down to make room for any new ones for a long time. There are already a ton of places they can put new attractions throughout the park. Only exception would be Timberwolf. I could see a nice ground up RMC being installed there and extending into the SOB station area. I think that would make more sense. Great spot. Great curb appeal. Can be seen from the highway. I don't see The Vortex spot being used for a ride for a long long time.

  7. Epi pens and insulin pumps both fit in pockets.  I would think feminine products are free at first aid, but i could be wrong.
It's already been said that KI has made reasonable accommodations for needed medical supplies.

Most medical supplies such as diabetic supplies and epi pens are not designed to be kept in pockets or high friction places where they could be crushed just by sitting down or bucked on. Most medical supplies are not designed to be transported in pockets.

  8. I honestly thinking we are looking at
    ‘23
    Flat package
    Refresh on SC slides
Demo of some eyesores and prep for future projects.
    Possible partial upgrade in PS.

Big project. Coaster? Whole area retheme?
Relocation of a ride to Kings Island?

With recent rumblings behind the scenes I see CGA shutting down asap with relocation of assets to other parks. I see Kings Island getting some of these assets to help fill some holes.
    Berserker (return of Bayern Kurve)
    Centrifuge
    Orbit (return of Skylab)
    Maybe Psycho Mouse

Not to get off topic but what was the original Winterfest like?

Much better than the Paramount attempt. A lot of theming and decertations. A lot of display and such brought in from outside people. Back then lighting an such was simple, not as flashy as todays LEDs and flashing light shows. I remember a lot of real Christmas trees. LOL

That's definitely a possibility but Idk if thats what they do. According to their website, they look like they're more about new construction and all their projects on the website are new coasters being built.

    They relocate rides also.

On another note, this would be awesome to bring back to the park.

I don't see Timberwolf coming down quite yet. They just invested money into it and based on what I've seen the concerts were pretty well received and the bigger name acts brought in big crowds. The park has tons of land to expand without removing it.

That is honestly my guess. Wolf Pack hasn't been used since 2019 and it looks like its in rough shape. Might be time to get rid of the rest of the SOB leftovers including the station and old queue and clean up that area around The Bat.

The concerts sold less than 30%. The money they put into it was chump change and cheap. It was basically a clean up. Again, it was saved at the 11th hour this year to try and squeeze what they could out of it. In fact there are already dumpsters that have been placed in Timberwolf.

That has been on my radar. If it pops up be prepared for a bidding war. lol

EDIT: Also, there are 2 versions of this medallion. The one pictured above is the one that was offered at Kings Island For Sale to the public and only 1.5".

The other (below) is the one that was handed to Full Time Staff and big wigs at Taft and was 2.5". That one is my holy grail of KI collectibles.
