I agree.  They need to put something in where Vortex sat.  Seeing that fence and an open area of land just doesn`t seem very pleasant.  Heck, I would be happy if they added some more flat rides back there, or even a wild mouse coaster.  Just something  back there to provide some action and interest instead of a wood fence.

That land didn't have a ride in it for the first 9 years of the park. I'd love to see them plant a bunch of trees and let it overgrow again to hide The Beast.

Also, they are currently repairing the track. The section that was damaged has been removed and they are welding in new steel.

  2. From what I'm seeing on social media there were a lot of issues. Most seem due to the the out of date facility and equipment. Also, from the photos I'm seeing it appears the concert did not sell well. I just can't bring myself to paying the listed prices for bleacher seats. To each their own.

As for the future. I think it was a cool for the 50th season, but it's time to lay it to rest next year. That land could be better used for other things.

  3. Here's a pic of the current crowd right now less than 10 minutes before the concert. Let me say, more than I thought looking at the amount of tickets sold! They were playing announcements about buying tickets online in the park all day so maybe that helped a little.

If we get anything out of this, I would like to see some of their flat rides find a second life here. Berserker, Centrifuge and Orbit look like fun rides that would fit in well here.

I’m not sure if relocating the sky ride is an easy feat considering it was built for CGA and no other park.

I'd be happy with their sky ride and place it in coney mall.

Re-read the report. They have the opportunity to lease for "up to" another 11 years. I give it 3 years and its closed. I would start looking at other park s getting rides from CGA.

  6. Why are people so in love with a gate coaster? I like that KI doesn’t play all it’s cards up front. You know what’s inside-you don’t need a coaster screaming over the front door to build excitement. If anything I feel it diminishes it. I like that international restaurant is getting a lot more use here of late-pretty much ensuring that if we do get a new entrance experience-they won’t be “opening it up” too much , and we will still get that wonderful compress and release view that Disney and KI mastered so well.

Who said anything about a gate coaster????

@Oldschool75, would such a project require some documentation with the City of Mason or Warren County? I know just surveying probably does not require anything as of now.

City of Mason and Warren County don't always have all documents online. Sometimes preliminary approval is given without paperwork officially submitted, and later filed when the project is commencing.

  8. Some more marking showing up on the edge of old Columbia road. Some are for excavation and gas line relocation. Judging by where previous markers were seen during Covid and removed I’m thinking we are seeing the beginning of an new and updated front gate area.

  9. Also a 28% increase in in-park per capita spending. Very good news. Hopefully the rest of the season is good for the chain as well.

I would say most of that is Kings Island judging by all the 50th gear I’ve seen everyone wearing at the park. Heck, I’ve spent $200 on stuff this year so far. That’s more than I’ve spent in the last 15 years total.

  10. It's looked like this for a number of years.
They typical store bike racks in this location for parking lot events. (Robbie Knievel, walking/running events, Haunt, etc)

I guess the trees shrunk in height. Especially since you can see Congo Falls loading station now from the parking lot. 98dd111a474775de8353b3ce068b7d25.jpg

  11. That is new track steel there. They have been replacing sections of track. The ride went down again today when I was there at 4pm. We were next in line and they just shut it down.
