  1. All the WindSeekers are down across the chain. Not sure what is up but my speculation is an issue found with the ride design or an upgrade to one of the systems of the ride.

  2. Check this out from Baynum:

For the people keeping track at home, the owner of ITPS is “Dennis Speigel” not “Spiegel.” It’s misspelled in this article. Then again, it’s misspelled in every article. I wonder how that happened.

It’s going to an awesome show. I can’t wait to see it.

  3. Skillet is coming at the end of July with an opening act for them. So basically it could be like Spirit Song.

Except the park wouldn’t be overrun with SS people. Lol

  4. Good lord, today was not a good day for Kings Island.
Invertigo valleyed in the morning, Beasts down until May, upwards of 5 coasters being down for issues with 3 being persistently during operating hours (not good for the other lines!), Diamondback queue nearly overflowing, 3+ hours for FoF, FLP line for FoF spilling under racer, now the Orion collision, and to top it all off, some rumors that fights broke out around 10pm.
EDIT: They are no longer rumors, police and EMT are on scene.
This is going to affect a lot of things. Hope we hear something from the park.

Also the stabbing at Camp Cedar. Oh and I had to report 4 teens jumping the fence into the maintenance department next to HR. Geez.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to put this (as there is not a "Kings Island 2022 thread" to my knowledge), but I just saw a segment on Channel 12 (news station in the Greater Cincinnati area) talking about some of the history of Kings Island with some past pictures and video from back in the day. They talked about Racer, The Beast, Vortex, and King Cobra, as well as mentioning Orion and Diamondback. I looked at the photo/video credits in the corner and I recognized Brian Lamm, Coasterbob62 and PsycloneSteve. The latter two have great retro footage of Kings Island and other theme parks form back in the day.

I would be the first one you mentioned. LOL I have hours of old footage in the archive. It was exciting to work with Channel 12 and the park on getting that piece put together. Just stay tuned throughout the season. There is a lot more celebrating and looking back to come. :)

  6. In the recent video released regarding the 50th anniversary, a short clip of Racer testing can be seen rather early on.

While I don't see the raised front logo yet, I'm sure that's coming shortly! Don't know the exact film date here

Sorry folks. Appears to be stickers again. [emoji22]

  7. While WWC is opening this season according to the site, I'll be beyond upset if they remove it in the future without another river rapids ride to replace it. More so than the loss of Vortex, which meant a lot to me.
BLSC being in Rivertown could be indication that they want to expand Rivertown further in that direction.
Or maybe all of this is meaningless and we're just a bunch of dopes reading too much into a map.

EDITED: WWC does not open until Memorial Day weekend. I would look for an updated map when the full park opens.

IMO the previous failure of Winterfest was because of the lack of any rides and only having a small part of the park open.

The most recent version of Winterfest basically follows Busch Gardens formula that worked and grew over a decade.   Limited rides including  some coasters, live entertainment (although Cedar Fair went with quantity over quality in this dept) and lights all over the park.

IMO Mystic Timbers was designed with Winterfest in mind.  Low to the ground with less chance to valley in cold temps.

Actually the first year of Winterfest The Beast was open

  9. Great news. Badly needed for a long time, and super happy to hear that this is happening! The characterization of the town as being an "old western town" in the blog is quite odd though--it's supposed to represent Lebanon c. 1803. I hope the Golden Lamb sign is brought back!

Actually, this area was an “old western town” during the time period it represented.

  10. The area around to tower and behind it is absolutely barren.   Like much of the park.   One capital investment they refuse to do is adding trees for shade.  CF seems to like keeping their customers miserable in the heat.   They don’t even fully shade their line queues.

I would be tickled if the “Kings Island” landscaping returned to the berm at the front gate.

  11. The arcades are already outsourced. I can’t remember the name of the previous company. They supplied the management, the maintenance, and maybe the lease on the games (I’m not sure about that last one). All of the customer-facing employees are Cedar Fair people. I’m not sure what, if anything, will change with this.

I believe it was Pioneer vending back in the day.

  12. Hopefully there will be a large poster size 50th anniversary map this year. I have a bunch of the 30th anniversary Paramount ones, because in addition to what I got in 2002, they were essentially giving away the rest of the stock during the 2007 fire-sale of everything Paramount.
Closing night of 2006 was interesting because they were literally just outright giving away heaps of gift shop bags to anyone that wanted them, because everything they had left would get junked after close because they were Paramount Parks bags. They were hauling boxes of them out of storage and putting them behind the counters in the shops. Useful for car trash bags. They also had the remaining inventory of the Paramount-branded rain ponchos out on the counters for like 10 cents apiece.

    I wouldn’t hope too much.
