It wouldn't surprise me the least bit to see Delirium get a fresh coat of paint. Frankly, the the ride looks like crap and being right next to the new ride, it's due for one.
Delirum being a Giant Frisbee, it would add more stress to the motor to extend its cycle to match its smaller cousin at CP. Delirium has experienced extended downtime in recent seasons as the park awaited parts from Germany (for its motor), so I'm guessing the park would like to keep the downtime to a minimum.
The motorS perform fine and "stress on the motorS" would not be the reason they don't extend the ride cycle. You want to know why they dont extend the cycle? Because it's fine as is and the general public would not notice the difference. Delirium and Maxair are more less the exact same ride. Minus some small differences. Again, the motorS have performed as expected and waiting on a motor from Germany was not the reason for its extended downtime in years past.

The smaller section contains the air compressor for the ride and the larger section is nothing but storage and breaker panels.

Plain and simple, Intamin got it right with the KD version.

Transferring a Flighdeck train off the main circuit takes no more than five minutes.
-
Adventure Express used to park trains on the lift too back when they ran 3 train operation!
Correct...
Under 2 train operation the second train is parked (usually) on lift 2.
This is false because that's not how they do it on the Cedar Creek Mine Ride at Cedar Point.

If you go up on the tower and look NorthEast behind where SOB used to be you can see a patch of bright green. That's actually an old pond with moss growing over it that the monorail used to circle. It's pretty gross now.
Back in my cleanup crew days we coined this as Lake Cleanup and would take our pop breaks back there.

..not many ride ops you know get to go change a wheel, hub bearing, and seal it ...
You even got to "seal it?" I'm so jealous. Please flood my inbox with your encyclopedia-like knowledge of steel coasters.

Also again being promoted and having to do inspections with maint you learn quite a lot about your rides you work at...
There is a huge difference between a full time maintenance worker and a ride op who tags along.
-
So explain to me why my lift blew mid season when we restarted the lift with a train dead on it from shutting down in the rain...and this is what a maint worker told us...and the lift was fine and running all day beforehand...
It's not hard to chain the trains..the only one that needs to be chained is the one on the tables storage brake not the one on the ready brake
Parking the trains allows all aspects of the train to be inspected, including the chain dogs, all wheels, and anti rollbacks..
Again minors aren't at cp and we do it every day at every ride except a few that are unable to transfer..but at ki only maint transfers off the trains if the ride does transfer off at night
1. The Vortex is not Corkscrew. Secondly, the lift motors are not the same.
2. It's easier for maintenance to inspect the underneath the trains on the ready brakes. At least on the Arrows.
3. Minors transfer the trains off The Beast to the storage shed at the end of the night.
Being a half assed ride op at Cedar Point does not make you an expert on Arrow roller coasters at KI.

In answer to the original question; parking a train on the lift is easier and safer than going out and chalking and chaining a train on the safety brakes. The trains are not rotated either. Nor is there any more stress put on the lift motor when a train is parked there for the night. Also, being a minor has nothing to with not parking train on the storage rails. It's simply not needed and unnecessary. At least on the Arrow coasters.

To add on to the old Skylab ride trivia... for the longest time, the actual operators booth for the old Skylab ride sat inside the parking lot and served as the attendant shelter for the gold pass parking area. It was there as late as 2010. Not sure if its still there or not.

^^^^ I wouldn't call you a bad parent. I don't know you or any of your children. I would say it was a poor judgement call letting a one year old and most six year olds in haunted mazes full of blood, guts, and gore.
Parents....there's a reason the event is advertised for those over 13.
Spend the day with them making lasting memories over in Planet Snoopy and Howl-O-Palooza
I would say its in "poor judgement" for you to judge another parent based on a trip to Halloween Haunt. They know their kids, you don't. Let them parent their kids and you stick to yours, (if applicable.)

The purple school building? Uhm no.
-
..they constructed the Baptist Church, an opera house, school...
Does anyone know if these buildings are still standing and where they were at? The school mentioned here wouldn't be the old school that sits at the entrance of the KI employee parking lot/softball fields would it? I believe the old school is purple now and is used for storage for the landscaping department.

If I can dispatch corkscrew with full manual restraints, spiel, controlling gates, bins, and answering questions, having fun, and clearing the ride in 45 seconds with my crews there, I don't know why crews like DB that only have minimal tasks to do compared to mine, and they frequently stack or have a delayed dispatch not hitting proper interval...
Because Diamondback is not Corkscrew.

^Why can good operational practices not benefit KI...
Because when capacity is stressed more than customer service, it becomes a problem. Want an example? See Cedar Point. Frankly, the ride ops at CP are rude and I always feel like I'm in the way when I'm riding a ride. I honestly believe the ride ops at CP would much rather run empty cycles on their rides then interact with guests on their rides.

WindSeeker--Needs someone in controls constantly, the delay of having the controls op check restraints, then go back to lock/relock gates/restraints creates delays. Also their loading procedures and cross checks are slow.
Firehawk--After their operationals in whatever it was, 2011 or 2012 when the procedures changed, it decreased capacity by reducing the interval even more. The only reason the changes happened was because of operationals (safeties), which could have been prevented if the crew didn't suck that year (also from what people tell me, mainly minors...hint hint)
All coasters--Auto platform gates with gates enable switch on the platform, not the guy in controls. The gates should open with station stop, and close by ride op on platform when necessary, or reopen as necessary, not waiting for controls. Also auto gates do increase capacity by a margin as there is a constant movement of people off and on, not waiting to clear basically, and then move. I think DB like every B&M coaster has this, but I can't be tooo sure, but rides like Vortex/Beast/ect. all don't
The station clear, all clear deal--If a high clear is present, that means that the order of clears has gone through, all ops have scanned their sector, and they are ok to give the clear. If the train isn't ready to dispatch as it's not right interval, we call a standby, or if there's an issue, the train isn't cleared. As soon as it's ready, we call a ready, clears go up in order, controls calls clear. Hearing a bunch of clears on platform, especially like at DB, how do you know everyone said clear, and it's also redundant..The three seconds here and there do add up, theoretical capacity can be reached safely when you reduce redundant unneeded things from procedures.
There's a few more I'm sure but those came to the top of my head first...And these are all changes that CAN happen easily, and actually will help...
Just stop. Kings Island is not Cedar Point and it never will be. Just because it works in Sandusky doesn't mean it will work in Mason. Just ask some of the former full time employees. The main words in the title of this thread were "improve rides at Kings Island." Not "turn it into Cedar Point."

I have to say, the new Fantasyland at WDW MK is absolutely incredible! The Beast/Belle/Gaston portion is so well done words cant describe it. It blends into the old Fantasyland like perfection!
Agreed. Took the wife and kids there in May as well and we were blown away by the attention to detail. The "Be Our Guest Restaurant," is probably the best looking theme park restaurant I've ever been in and the customer service was top notch. We only went there for lunch and have yet to experience dinner there. I guess that just gives us another reason to go back!

Does anyone remember the walk up attraction that slimed people by having two people standing side by side with two separate pipes overhead and then pulling on a rope and the "slime" would come down on only one person? If I recall correctly, there was no way to determine which pipe the slime would come out of and there was no pattern to determine which one would be next. Anyone remember? Bonus points for the people who can tell me where it was and whats there now.

I wonder if KI would benefit by inviting enthusiasts and roller coaster clubs to participate in voluntary cleanup days, in exchange for freebies. I'm pretty sure they would get lots of volunteers to paint, rake leaves and spruce up the park, maybe for a free pizza lunch or maybe a couple of hours ride time on one of the coasters.
NO x 1000. You want to donate your time? Great. Give it to a charity or a place that actually needs it. Not a for profit business.

Why that horrid fast pass system was implemented. It has ruined the capacity of the rides, especially Diamondback.
I can answer this one for you. KI is a business and businesses are in business to make money. They are not in business to appease to a very very small fraction of their customer base and leave an absurd amount of money on the table just so said customer base can get on Diamondback five minutes faster.

The only difference I noticed was the HB characters were gone inside and so were the scooby snacks.
Delirium to get a paint job?

So was I. They "tamed" The Crypt because it was a last ditch effort to make the ride cost efficient. Not because of "extra stress."
