  1. At the end of the day, if a dude wants to throw back a beer or two from a cooler in his own vehicle in the parking lot, go for it. It's not hurting me, and it's not hurting you. Besides, after the pounding you take just to park, you should be able to do eat and drink whatever the hell you want in your own car.

  2. Straight from KI's web page regarding the "alcoholic beverages at Kings Island" policy:

"Guests must be at least 21 years of age to purchase, possess or consume alcoholic beverages at Kings Island. Valid State issued identification or valid driver's license is required upon each person purchasing, possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted while in line for any ride."

All I see is no alcoholic beverages in line. Don't see anything about the parking lot.

  3. I'm surprised by the "if you do it, make sure you don't get caught" posts on here. The point is, it's not legal, whether you get caught or not. You should not be doing it or encouraging others to find ways to skirt the law. As enthusiasts I like to think that we should be setting examples for park guests, not purposely ignoring the rules.

I get it's not legal but do you always abide by the posted speed limit?

The best parking lot infraction I saw this year was a lit barbeque grill and several guys drinking beer... in the bed of a parked pickup truck! Yeah, I called security and they were there in less than 30 seconds.

Just curious but were these guys bothering you or harassing you in any way?

  4. More precision, more exact science compared to humans which can have flaws. Hell looking at pictures of Corkscrew's lift, you can see it's not exactly perfectly straight and the tubular rails aren't perfectly round. You don't see that with todays' technology

It's not less quality, it's still high quality, but not precise Maybe I just didn't word this right

I'm still not seeing your point but Arrow has several fails. The Bat, Drachen Fire, and X come to mind. I can't think of one B&M failure.

  5. That building was such a memory to go into this weekend.

Seeing the pipes for the fog/water/ect. on the side, then the mural still on the wall, just brilliant.

What I would do to tour through there with no haunt on the floor and see what all is still there honestly. Plus it's been a dream of mine to go up to the control booth and peer out into where that ride used to be.

One of my fond memories I truly miss

The control booth sucks. You can't see much and you needed cameras to see down to the gondola. That building is an eyesore. It was even when they had a ride in there and it needs to go.

  6. I am not sure about Vortex, but yes they hand built it on site. I may post pictures of some off season work they did on the rails of magnum & corkscrew that I have. But the evidence is clear, the ride is nowhere near the perfect tolerances that rides such as B&M's have.

But that's what makes it unique...knowing it's not a cookie cutter, RCT computer generated coaster, it's very unique and it's own, and people used their profession to make that ride.

Don't see quality like that anywhere anymore really.

Huh? So the integration of computers leads to a ride built with less quality? Not following you here.

  7. Like someone mentioned earlier, there are gantry systems in there that are used for nothing more than people moving. I'm not 100% sure on their weight capacity but I'd be willing to bet they can't be used to pick up track pieces. That being said, the roof also opens up for crane access.

  8. I am sure this is a good way to get rid of the remaining inventory that the would be stuck with in September if not sold over that weekend!

Stuck with? You do realize the park is open every weekend in September right? It has everything to do with boosting attendance on a relatively uncrowded holiday weekend.

  9. It always baffled me that there wasn't a sign up at The Beast's entrance explaining the policy. Their PA system doesn't reach to most of the queue. One Saturday - a midnight close - I had Fast Lane, and was walking up the FL entrance around 10:15, knowing that the ride should reopen soon, and had people yelling to me from the queue saying that the ride was broken. They were clearly not informed that The Beast shutting down was a routine thing at that time of night. The whole thing is baffling.

The whole reason for shutting down baffles me. The Beast ran for how many years while the fireworks were going off? Did they move the launch site of the fireworks or something recently?

  10. Back in the day a beige van once drove those roads...lol. memories

That wouldn't be the old beige General Services van, would it? I drove that thing many a time. Memories, indeed!

Yes, the infamous beige van...I drove it rides cleanup with azkindaguy.

My favorite memory of the beige van is when the sliding door just fell off one day. Hey glock, have you seen the "new" red truck lately? Good lord.

  11. Well I wonder what this guy was delivering yesterday morning???

    KingsIsland852013113821AM_zps05854535.jp

    Fixed

This truck is most likely on its way back from dropping a load of stuffed animals ot basketballs or some other form of prizes for the games. The games warehouses(there are 3 there) is right next to Flight of Fear and Firehawk behind The Racer, one of the warehouses is actually used in the fall for haunt, I think the maze if that is still a haunted house there. But anyways they use that service road to get there and back.
I am not buying what you are selling! In all my years I have never seen a semi in that area, Second that is a container truck not something they would to transport merchandise!

Martinin is right. In all my years I have seen plenty of semis in that area. Not everything is for the 2014 attraction,

  12. Really? Sure let's tie in this nice new coaster with a defunct coaster that was problematic from the start, severely injured people, and was in the news for all the wrong reasons. Lets not waste that potential.

Defunct or not, it was still an extremely historic coaster.

Historic for all the wrong reasons.

KI is wise to distance themselves from any SoB association with the new ride.

This is why it will most likely be from B&M who has a great track record of uptime & safety as opposed to Intamin.

Imagine if KI did go with Intamin & the ride had to be "modified" a la: WT, Maverick or I-305 or have considerable downtime a la: TTD, KK, or WT? Park goers will immediately mention SoB in the confusion.

Yes. Worlds tallest, fastest, and only looping wooden coaster is all the wrong reasons...you make no sence

And how did that work out for them?

  13. ...But why let the "ghost of Son of Beast" die and just be forgotten about? Kings

Island has potential to do something awesome with theaming that actually ties in rollercaoster history behind it. I hope the potential is not wasted.

You can have the history. I'll take common sense.
