  1. Read it again. He didn't ask if *I* knew, nor did I say I did (or that I didn't).

I merely pointed out someone knows. (That was, after all, the question).

    Tee hee

Terpy, old enough not to be called a smart aleck...sometimes

Agreed, but you and CoasterRZ did have the answer he was looking for after all. This is the reason I joined this site, to be able to learn and converse with people about my favorite place to visit. I love it when I learn something new about KI!! Thanks!

  2. Yes it is. Sadly, I have to admit that the last time I was in Boomerang Bay to enjoy the water attractions was MANY years ago. In fact, it was for the season pass preview day back in 2004 when Boomerang Bay opened. Which is a little ironic since my thesis topic is focused on entertainment architecture and indoor water park resorts. I have, however, been to both Disney water parks in Florida. Talk about top notch water parks! A nice feature about those parks is that they actually have sprinkler heads spraying parts of the pathway to keep the concrete from burning your feet on hot days if you aren`t wearing sandals!

I have been a Gold Pass member since 2002, and I still have not been in the water park since it was renovated to Boomerang Bay. The Beast starts calling my name as I enter the park and everything else is a blur.

  3. does anyone know about first rider tees???

    Yes.

Terpy, in your heart you knew he would

So how do you guys know all this? Do you work in maintenance or something? I realize it may not take an engineer to notice some of these changes, (if you’re fascinated with the rides as we are) but you guys seem to know the answer to every question.

  4. ^Nothing's wrong with the coaster, but see here in regards to your question:

    http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16177

And how exactly do you know nothing is wrong with the coaster?

    Terpy, wondering...

I did ride twisted twins, but only one side was working that day. That end of the park seemed ran down. It has been 3 years so maybe they are improving the area? IMO is seems they are land locked on building anything big.

  5. I also found it entertaining that the past page and a half was discussion of why the webcam was down - and no one had it right. It wasn't wind, it wasn't a conspiracy, it wasn't web traffic ... it was just maintenance. :D

This is a really long maintenance outage, time stamp on page says 7:10 AM and it is now 7:30 PM? I still feel when that cam comes back up there will be trains on the track.

  6. The roof looks as if it's almost complete!! And the track looks like it has been moved as well. One other thing, will they put a fence around areas like La Rosas , I can't imagine them leaving that open.

    Maria

We are not going to be able to see the nice shiny trains when they get them parked in their new home with the roof on. <_<

It is going to be intersting how they integrate the surrounding buildings and Beast entrance with DB.

  7. Wonder why part of the transfer track area to holding area does not have the criss cross supports (X) but the one half does.

The reason being that there will be an access road traveling underneath that portion of track.

What does an access road have to do with support beams that are welded inside the frame of the structure? My guess is that the engineers only called for supports on the one side, do to needing extra support for the transfer point of the trains from one track to another. No need to pay for more steel and installation if not necessary per the engineers.

  8. I would like to see KI add a campground.

    What a novel idea.....

Wouldn't it be cool to have a place where you could camp, and maybe ride a tram to and from the park?

Wonder why no one has thought of this before....LOL

I actually went and bought a new camper in Janurary of 05 I think? The year they closed the camp ground. My wife was pregnant and I wanted her to be able to ride the tram back to the AC'ed camper to rest. I was furious when I called to make reservations at the camp ground and they said they were closed. I was on the phone with KI for 1/2 day complaing to the highest manager they would let me talk too about the camp ground. I asked them if they wanted to buy a camper. They offered me a dinner the next time I visited the park... :(

  9. I think Kings Island needs a larger Ecology (Custodial) staff. There are almost 5 times as many "custodial hosts" at the Magic Kingdom as there are at Kings Island, and MK is about 2/3 the size of KI (and that's only pan and broom cast members). And the thing is, it totally shows.

Well, I am willing to put up with a napkin on the ground for an extra few hours before a ecology staff can get around to cleaning it up, than having to pay Disney price to get into the park!! That is reason I have only been to Disney once in my life. CF I believe, has spent some money to help keep KI clean. There is a breaking point on where to spend you money. Mainitain rides and build new ones, or have a cleaning person that can clean up a used cup left on the ground in 15 seconds of being dropped.

  10. Hey im nuts to.If i lived near by,i would be there every day.But i live 3 hrs away so i only make it there about 10 times a year.

Ditto, little over 2 hours away and would be there every day closing the park if i could!! I usually make it 12 to 15 times.
